CM Punk Sells Out Chicago

Cody Rhodes Is Top Dog
I would like to take this time to say... Punk does NOT need to "go".

So he sells out his home town. Not just any home town, but the third largest market in the country. He did this for MITB, and also translated that into posative PPV buys for MITB from the previous year.

What makes it significant is what I previously stated; It is the 3rd largest market. And If anyone has been following the WWE over the past 12-15 years, you would see how important the large markets are. I Belive that NY, Chicago, Phili, Boston, and Pittsburg are WWE's bread and butter, and have been making enrodes back into the Houston, Dallas, and Atlanta markets, which they had lost major ground in following the fall of the "Attiude" era. LA and MIA have never been strongholds of the WWE, abeit they did well there in the 98-01 years due to The Rock. Which is why The Rock does a lot of LA and MIA events.

Can the Punk-Chicago connection catch fire like the Obama-Chicago connection? Will it translate outside of the northeast?

Thoughts?

And a little tib-bit side note:

I had previously stated that the only answer to the ratings problem, is to jack up the first hour. Every week, regardless of what the second hour offers, they lose 3 or 400 thousand viewers. I can remember I was blasted by everyone as being and "idiot" for such a solution. But it seems as though the WWE has finaly figured it out and desided to do it. This trend started about 17 weeks ago, It is amazing how slow they are to react. I would have employed that strategy 3 months ago.

What an awful thread, this wont get you out.

Maybe it will be awefull to a lot of people, and at 17, I dont expect you to appreciate a thread giving an analysis. What do you want to hear? Cena Sucks? Punk is a cool bad ass? We want puppies? (maybe that was before your time)

I dont do great with that stuff. 2 line "sound bites" are not my specialty, but thanks for the input....

It's not because it's a thread giving an anaylsis, it's because it's a thread giving an anaylsis on a topic that literally nobody gives a shit about.

So I give a thread analyizing Punk and the ratings, and litteraly everyone gives a shitt about it, pist or not. And that makes me a terrible poster. Then I give a thread analyizing his importance for the Chicago market, and give him credit. Now I'm even a worse poster.

I'm getting ready to leave and while I try not to make descsions based on emotion, B/C emotion can change with the wind, i just cant take this to much more.

I poured my heart and soul into getting involved with the people on this forum, maybe to a fault. Maybe I tried to hard. And maybe I let some things go to my head without consideration for the long-time members here. And I most definatly made a mistake in defending a person mocking "handicap" people. I just got caught up in the whole damn thing to quickly.

I cant win no matter what I do.

If this forum is stressing you out this much, I seriously envy your life. Quit being a whiny bitch and go ride a bike or something.

The WWE is a worldwide company. Chicago alone isn't a reason.

Ryan: Keep making threads, I'll continue participating

You are correct, yes. WWE is a world wide company and NO, Chicago alone isn't a reason to go over-board in claiming Punk as the leader to a new "era". And I do NOT use the term "era" litely.

WWE has been getting 65% of their PPV buys in over seas markets which is why ADR, Barret, Sheamus, and loads of other international stars have been pushed to the moon. But Chicago, outside of NY, is WWE's biggest domestic fanbase. I'm talking 5-8% of the total viewers, and 25-35 thousand PPV buys come from that market each month.

If Punk can lay claim to that base of support, does he have the leverage to make a case to be the "face" of the WWE? And might that encourage the WWE to have the courage to turn Cena Heel?

Exactly how do you interpret what might be going on inside the inner working minds of the WWE execs? We have to analyize and match the certain numbers.

Ryan, Bieber is trolling you, just let it go.

Good thread, CM Punk at Money in the Bank was the modern day Bret Hart. He sold out in his hometown was able to get massive heat anywhere else he went. You can tell from this point on WWE will always cash in on any WWE Show if it is aired live in Chicago because that is usually where you will get the best reaction. Like you said, it is the third largest market for Chicago. Not only that, the city gives off the best reactions on Monday Night Raw to date.

For the love of god. Ryan, maybe you should just stop making threads about Punk.

Try making a thread about something else for once that doesn't involve, CM Punk and/or the ratings, and then people might actually take you seriously for once.

I was not "trolling". Everything I said was completely true, hombre.
