Alright, before I am destroyed, let me just say this is a thought I had.
Punk over the past couple of months has been built into a great heel, one that WWE took time in and really developed his character. Now those of us who have seen Punk know that he is an amazing heel. To me he is growing into a legendary heel, reaching the level of The Rock, and Austin. He's One that has charisma, great on the mic, and puts on great matches. Punk has been on top of his game for the better part of a month now. The thing that sets him apart is he is a different kinda of heel. Rock was a loud mouth jock who wanted to talk. Austin just didn't care. The million dollar man had the money. While Punk points out he's better than us like The Rock. He does so by pointing out all of our flaws. Our addictions, to drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, and so on. He gets under our skins by pointing how we have these things, and he doesn't, because he's "stronger.'' Personally I think that is better than someone like Jericho or Rock who just says there better. Because these are things we deal with everyday. I smoke from time to time, and he calls me out on it. I think it's brilliant. Rock didn't do those things. He just came out and said, I'm going to do this because I can. To be honest I think it's what separates Punk from every other heel. In my mind it makes him better. I don't remember a heel that got under our skin like Punk. WWE really had great timing in turning him heel against Hardy. (Perfect timing with him leaving) You have Hardy that had known drug use, but was one of the biggest faces in the company. With Punk being straight edge, this feud was perfect for Punk.
Now, we knew he was going to win at Summerslam, as well in the cage match, but. There was something that he did on Smackdown that made him one step above any other heel I've seen in a long time. After Jeff's feel good moment telling the fans bye and all. Punk comes out and drilled Jeff in the back of the head. Standing over him to end the show. That to me was a amazing moment. That really made think, not only is he great he could be legendary. Yeah, I might be crazy, but when was the last time you saw a heel do that? I can't remember anything off the top of my head. Then the next week coming out and dressed as Hardy. He had the fans completely speechless. In my mind was one of the best points of this year.
Then he enters this feud with Taker, as soon as this happened I had a bad feeling this would be exactly what happened to Orton earlier this year. Punk had gained all this momentum, only to be derailed. Though we had a great screw job finish. Now we are heading to Hell In A Cell. How big would it be for Punk to beat 'Taker in his match? Huge! Anyone that stepped into HIAC let alone beat 'Taker in the cell either was or has become one of the biggest stars the company had. Michaels, Lesnar, Angle,(6 man, just through it in) Orton, Mankind, Edge, Batista. Each man has been huge, I expect nothing less than that from Punk. As I feel this feud with 'Taker could go to Survivor Series. Which will only continue to elevate him.
So I want to know your thoughts, could Punk be a legend?
