CM Punk, a legend in the making?

Paradox

American made.
Alright, before I am destroyed, let me just say this is a thought I had.

Punk over the past couple of months has been built into a great heel, one that WWE took time in and really developed his character. Now those of us who have seen Punk know that he is an amazing heel. To me he is growing into a legendary heel, reaching the level of The Rock, and Austin. He's One that has charisma, great on the mic, and puts on great matches. Punk has been on top of his game for the better part of a month now. The thing that sets him apart is he is a different kinda of heel. Rock was a loud mouth jock who wanted to talk. Austin just didn't care. The million dollar man had the money. While Punk points out he's better than us like The Rock. He does so by pointing out all of our flaws. Our addictions, to drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, and so on. He gets under our skins by pointing how we have these things, and he doesn't, because he's "stronger.'' Personally I think that is better than someone like Jericho or Rock who just says there better. Because these are things we deal with everyday. I smoke from time to time, and he calls me out on it. I think it's brilliant. Rock didn't do those things. He just came out and said, I'm going to do this because I can. To be honest I think it's what separates Punk from every other heel. In my mind it makes him better. I don't remember a heel that got under our skin like Punk. WWE really had great timing in turning him heel against Hardy. (Perfect timing with him leaving) You have Hardy that had known drug use, but was one of the biggest faces in the company. With Punk being straight edge, this feud was perfect for Punk.

Now, we knew he was going to win at Summerslam, as well in the cage match, but. There was something that he did on Smackdown that made him one step above any other heel I've seen in a long time. After Jeff's feel good moment telling the fans bye and all. Punk comes out and drilled Jeff in the back of the head. Standing over him to end the show. That to me was a amazing moment. That really made think, not only is he great he could be legendary. Yeah, I might be crazy, but when was the last time you saw a heel do that? I can't remember anything off the top of my head. Then the next week coming out and dressed as Hardy. He had the fans completely speechless. In my mind was one of the best points of this year.

Then he enters this feud with Taker, as soon as this happened I had a bad feeling this would be exactly what happened to Orton earlier this year. Punk had gained all this momentum, only to be derailed. Though we had a great screw job finish. Now we are heading to Hell In A Cell. How big would it be for Punk to beat 'Taker in his match? Huge! Anyone that stepped into HIAC let alone beat 'Taker in the cell either was or has become one of the biggest stars the company had. Michaels, Lesnar, Angle,(6 man, just through it in) Orton, Mankind, Edge, Batista. Each man has been huge, I expect nothing less than that from Punk. As I feel this feud with 'Taker could go to Survivor Series. Which will only continue to elevate him.

So I want to know your thoughts, could Punk be a legend?

The only reason that he's a good heel in WWE is because he was against Jeff Hardy. Otherwise he'd get as much heat as Jericho. He got RID of Jeff Hardy. That's the only reason. The audience could really care less that he's 'pointing out their flaws.'

Well that's a load of bullshit. Hardy is gone and Punk is still getting great reactions from the crowd. They most certainly do care about Punk insulting them, they boo the hell out of him everytime he does.

I've been saying for a while now that I think CM Punk is a legend in the making. It's fairly obvious. He's gold on the mic, gold in the ring, and is already a multi time World Champion in a very short amount of time spent in the WWE. He's a completely unique wrestler, something the WWE hasn't seen in a long time, and a real rare commodity in the wrestling world.

Without a doubt CM Punk will go alongside names like Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, and Eddie Guerrero when all is said and done, perhaps he can soar to even higher acclaim than those three. The future holds endless possibilities for Punk. Without a doubt a legend in the making, and I hope everyone realizes that when they watch him wrestle.

Sure, I can see C.M. Punk becoming a legend someday, but we will first have to see how long this goes and how much more depth WWE will add to C.M. Punk's character. He's already doing everything a great heel should do and then some. However, we have to see how long he is able to keep his heel heat going.

Some of the greatest heels in history have gotten a lot of cheers in the past. Randy Orton does so many sadistic things to his face opponents and gets a lot of cheers. Chris Jericho was one of the most hated men in the WWE when he first turned heel last year, now, although he has the same character, is getting many cheers. John Morrison got a lot of cheers as a heel. The Rock. Stone Cold. The Undertaker. All guys who as heels, got cheers as if they were a face.

C.M. Punk really is meant to be put in a different category than them. He insults the crowd due to real-life flaws. Jericho calls us parasites and hypocrites, when it is not a real-life problem for us. The Rock would bad-mouth the fans because he felt he was better than them, without any real-life reasons.

So, as long as WWE is able to keep C.M. Punk's character fresh. Give him proper opponents where he show his talent on the mic. Something he didn't do as a face. Keep him in fresh fueds. Then yeah, C.M. Punk will become a legend in no time.

Well I do agree that he is a great performer, and he is one of the best mic workers in the WWE right now, behind Jericho IMO. But, I don't think he's in Jericho's, Benoit's, or Eddie's league by far. And, IMO the fans, especially the kids, only boo him now because he got rid of Hardy. He is still getting great reactions from the crowd since Hardy's departure, I agree, but it's because his departure was not even a month ago. This straight-edge is better than you shit WILL get old eventually...

Punk has really stepped up his game over the last couple of months and has pretty much confirmed himself as a future legend. I see him being at the top for a while now. I see him going in the direction Edge did. Winning lot's of titles and getting better and better. Punk's heel persona has been so much better than him as a face. He calls us all out on our addictions and it's all true. Pretty much everyone other than straight edge guys take medication for their headaches, have beers or smoke ciggi's or drugs. He calls the crowd on it and draws big heat because everyone knows he's right.

Punk as a heel hasn't really been done before and he's playing it perfectly. He's going to the top and he will join the greats as a legend in the future if he doesn't drop the ball. He's reminding me a lot of a cross between Edge and Jericho for some reason but with his own blend added.

Anyways, yes CM Punk is a future legend.

Punk a legend? I think its a bit early to talk about that idea. Has Punk grown allot in the last few months? No doubt about it. Is he doing things, as a heel, that haven't been done before? As far as I can remember, yes. But, as far as future legend goes....I dont see it. At least not yet. For me, Punk still has to prove he is a valid champion. So far, he hasn't done so yet. Perhaps if he were to have made Taker tap then I would buy it. But for now, he is upper mid card talent as far as I am concerned.
