Punk is an asshole in the fact hes outspoken. Most outspoken and opinionated people are labeled as assholes because they don't conform with the general consensus but will always have a few who find their rebellious attitude admirable.
Austin Aries believes hes better than he actually is so he takes liberties. I've heard at least six or eight stories about him either bullying a talent backstage or talking down to someone because they did something he doesn't agree with.

What Punk did was worse so I don't see why TNA wouldn't be able to do less if they wanted to. It isn't about excusing anything. It is about the frame of the discussion.
Punk indisputably physically assaulted someone that didn't work for the company, a company that has a lot more sponsors to keep happy than TNA does and the fan contacted a lawyer yet most of the discussion was about how WWE screwed up and ultimately nothing other than that statement came from it. Aries probably overdid his character in a moment to another character and she tweeted (later deleted) about it yet the discussion is centered around more severe levels of punishment than what Punk got. I fail to see how that precedent isn't relevant.
Probably because WWE did put Punk into danger by not providing security, and he got physically provoked. Aries was never provoked, and instead chose to act like he did.

He was certainly "provoked," she announced them wrong and to not react at all as a heel would be ridiculous. In the heat of that moment he took it slightly further than maybe he should have. Punk just whirled around and punched someone at random in the face. This is the wrestling fan nonsense. Punch people in face is acceptable, "bully" someone is the worst! Punk chose to punch that guy too. To make excuses for him while acting like Aries was being entirely malicious is exactly what I am talking about.
I guess I am confused what the point of this thread is then because I didn't realize we needed to discuss whether gentleman put their nuts in the vicinity of women's face on tv.

How exactly was what Punk did worse? Would you rather have someone punch you in the face or have someone shake their dick in your face? Not saying what Punk did was okay either but any man with a set of balls would just take the punch and move on with his life. If Aries did this same thing to a dude, I wouldn't care in the slightest. Humiliating a woman when his testicle-less self knows she can't knock his ass out? Someone in that locker room needs to be a man and knock his fucking head off.
He is in the wrong. The issue going around here is that people want to burn him on a cross while Christy probably doesn't care much about it.
