Charlie Weiss

Big Sexy

Deadly Rap Cannibal
Needs to get fired. This should have happened last year. He has proven that he just can't cut it as a college head football coach. You can have as many great recruiting classes as you want, but if you can't coach them up then it doesn't matter.

UConn was emotionally drained as a football team, and Notre Dame and Charlie Weis let them come into Notre Dame Stadium, ON SENIOR DAY, and win in 2 OT. Weis shouldn't make it to the Stanford game.

Meh, it just shows what the rest of the country already knows, Notre Dame football is shit. No one wants to play in South Bend, Indiana when you can play in the south in the warm.

Recruiting wasn't the problem. He got some great classes, he just couldn't coach the talent he had.

Yea, despite what Shocky says, kids want to play at Notre Dame and WIN. But with Charlie Weis, they can't. The AD at ND should be more careful as far as who they choose for coach. And Weis cannot coach at all. And if they want to play in the south, why does Cincy have a great bunch of talent?

Cincinnati is a hot bed for High School football, and it's been a well known secret for a long time. I think you're seeing the big problems in Michigan and Notre Dame because they are getting out recruited in Ohio now by Cincinnati. The key to the Bearcats right now is they are keeping the talent at home. It's why Pittsburgh is doing well right now too, they are keeping their talent at home.

The Bearcats going to the Big East effectively killed a big recruiting area that the Big Ten and Notre Dame love.

Pittsburgh also does well because they keep talent away from Rich Rod in Michigan and Stewart in West Virginia. They also recruit well in New Jersey which keeps talent away from Rutgers and even Syracuse. They also recruit well in small parts of Florida. PA football isn't what it used to be but its still effective. Notre Dame also used to recruit the PA area but it can't because Wanny and Tressell out recruit them here...And Joe Pa sucks now. Which also helps. Lol.

exactly. PA and OH high school football rank right up there with the likes of Florida and Texas. The coaches in the city schools like Pitt and Cincy know this, and hire local guys onto their staff. UC hired Kerry Combs, who was a big HS coach in the area, and with his connections, have been able to land a lot of the blue chippers from the area to stay.

What kills Notre Dame right now is that they used to come in here and pluck the talent from the Greater Catholic League (Elder, LaSalle, Moeller, St. X) big time HS programs, but Cincy and OSU have pretty much put a lock down on the area.
