Carlito's De-Push: A Big WWE Regret

Carlito isn't awful, and I'm going to leave backstage bitching totally out of this post. Anyway, Carlito isn't bad on the mic, and when he can be arsed, he can actually bounce off other workers very well. In fact, he's probably better than all of the other Hispanic wrestlers in North America today on the mic.

I'm a bit of a sucker for double springboard moves, I just think they look cool, and Carlito is the only guy in the WWE that ever does them, but his general demeanour in the ring is pretty lethargic. I think he's a reasonable talent, and on occasion I have been immensely entertained by him, but mostly, he's just another worker. Not awful, but not someone you miss if he isn't on the card. He isn't the kind of person that WWE need to plough resources into, but if he catches a lucky break, then maybe he's worth a second look.

I imagine they hardly regret it, being as Carlito is shit. Sloppy, looks like shit, and no one gives a fuck about him. get back in shape, and stop nearly breaking people's fucking necks in the ring, and maybe we can talk.

Carlito has been terrible his entire career. He's done absolutely nothing significant. Yeah, he won a title in his debut match on Smackdown as well as on Raw.... ok, so what? Neither of those reigns were memorable. When he turned heel on Flair and dumped Torrie, that's when I finally gave up on his character. I knew Carlito was going nowhere way before Primo even got to WWE. Speaking of that, their tag team was forgettable too. Shortly after they lost the titles, both faded into obscurity, where they belong. Carlito's lack of a push is anything but a WWE regret because he was terrible from day one. He does NOT deserve better. He's lazy and badmouthed the federation in interviews, it's a miracle he never got future endeavored, and should have just left when he wanted to because he sucks and that's never going to change.

Seriously, who gives a fuck about Carlito? He hasn't been remotely entertaining in years. The last time I was interested in anything he did was when he was US champion, and when he was feuding with Triple H, and the only reason I cared for his feud with HHH was because he had just came back from the second quad tear after being out of action for a long time. Yeah, him and Primo were unified tag champs, but let's face it, nobody really cared about them. Out of all the unified tag team champions, they had to have the most forgettable reign so far, and they were the first EVER WWE unified tag team champions!

Carlito is boring, and has been for a while now. His apple spiting isn't funny or shocking anymore, it's just bland like his character. Carlito is on WWE's #1 show, and a mentor on NXT. As far as I'm concerned, that's enough for him.

I doubt they regret it. That said, when avoiding structuring his promos around his catch phrases, he shows some potential on the mic. All in all, I see him as rather annoyed with how his career has gone down and I think that promos like his one against Cena back in December (which I hardly remember and realize was only used to get Cena vs. Sheamus over) indicate that he would really be entertaining if he was given a live mic and time to spew whatever venom is eating away at him. In the ring, he can be sloppy when unmotivated and seems unsuited for the heel role when it comes to anything physical. He could make a decent face if they let him pull off his attitude correctly on the mic. That said, I think he's best suited as part of a face tag team as he displayed with Primo. Their matches with Miz and Morrison were fun, the brothers looked motivated together, and they were never over-exposed. Of course tag teams don't last in this era, so any hope of The Colons reaching true tag greatness are in vain. Bottom line, Carlito isn't great or a potential main eventer but there are ways that WWE could better play to his strengths to have him entertain people and make a few quick bucks.
