Can someone please disect Legacy & justify why one has more potential than the other?

Ted Jr. has the look of a heavyweight champion. He is bigger and more physical than his old man was. He is much bigger than Cody, and has a better physique. Cody is a hell of a worker, but Ted has the "it" factor going. I think Ted is good in the ring, on the mic, and has the pedigree. Cody needs to gain some weight, and tighten his mic skills up. Right now, I would give the edge to Ted. He just seems ready to make the jump before Cody. What I really hope is that they keep these two together throughout their careers, sort of like Arn and Flair, or Hunter and Shawn. They can have some scuffles and without a doubt draw on some big matches with one another, but hopefully, for the most part, they somewhat stick together. If not, I fear Cody will get the short end of the stick, while Ted rises quickly.

I dont know many women who like Rhodes for example and think Ted is dreamier.

As quick a side note: Personally, I know there are plenty of women who like Cody .. I think the female 'fanbase' for them is kind of evenly split. (fyi: Cody's lisp could also be seen as cute or add character)

Now, I agree with what many have written - the figure.
Cody does look pretty skinny in comparison to 'bulky' Ted. He also seems to have toothpick legs (not meant as an insult, mind you) and I must say sometimes his walk or him standing around comes across as a little bit girly - not exactly what one would expect from a Heavyweight Champ.
But this is something he could definitely change, with specialising his workout or even with his attire (like The_Game_Rage wrote).
I am also of the opinion that Ted did change appearancewise while filming the Marine 2. Tbh, I was pretty surprised when he came back looking bigger (maybe it was just my memory acting up, not sure) and sporting quite a tan. This changed my image of him a lot and I know of others that did feel the same way.

Another thing I agree with - Ted as a Mini-Orton.
I mean, come on .. he even had his own little viper thing going at least one time ..
But, I must admit, he could sell it somehow while I think Cody could not pull it off that well.
This only adds to the fact that Cody is more unique/doesn't fit into someone else's character/their shoes.

To come back to the original question: the potential.
Phew, that is not an easy thing to answer but I'd have to say Cody too. From what I have seen from him until now, I think he is the one that is more versatile and stylewise kind of has his own thing going.

But the potential is not what counts (unfortunately)
In the end, it seems to come down to what the WWE has in mind for those two.
They seem to have more plans for Ted, although .. who can really say that right now? I for sure can't.
To end my rambling, I hope they don't let Cody's potential go to waste only because of his looks.

Another thing about Dibiase, thinking about his possibilities going into the future is that, while he is bigger than Cody, he's not THAT big, which might end up holding him back almost as much as it will end up holding Cody down.

While Cody is pretty small, when I see Legacy next to Orton, they both look a lot smaller than him to me. One of the reasons I don't think a feud with Orton would be good for Ted right now(besides him not being ready)and also one of the reasons I get the Big Brother Little Brother vibe from that team.

honestly i think cody has a better moveset, intensity and character. but everybody says that ted deserves the better push because he has the look of a champion.

like everything else I think WWE is gonna mess this up. they will break ted away from legacy and have him face orton at mania. they will feud and that will leave randy and cody. they won team because wwe dosnt see them as equals, so cody will become randys sole apprentice. eventually cody will over take randy and IMO that will be the better push

i prefer rhodes also, mic skills and mat skills are a lot better, dibiase is getting there though he almost got evan bourne hurt on a throw when he launched him to the turnbuckle last week, but dibiase has that look where he could be a fan favorite rhodes doesn't have that.

I think everyone is way off in saying that "Ted DiBiase will get a shot over Rhodes becsause he is much bigger". First off they probably differ in about an inch in a half in height and like 20 pounds of muscle (I have sat front row and seen them Live). If Rhodes wanted to gain more mass to look bigger he easily could do that within a couple months by lifting shorter sets of larger weights but that's probably not what he is aiming for. Secondly you don't have to be 6'6'' and 275 to be a heavyweight champion in the WWE. Shawn Michaels, CM Punk, Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho are examples of this fact.

It is true that Orton is bigger than DiBiase who is bigger than Rhodes but so what? If match outcomes and character pushes were only based on size OR even largely based on size then why would Rey Mysterio compete and why isn't Big Show champion now?

I love Cody Rhodes. He just has this cocky-ass charisma about him that just makes him #1 in my books. I understand Ted being the prettyboy and all, I guess being the more popular one? I don't know. I like Cody better. I feel like he can get it done in the ring just as well as, if not better the DiBiase and he could definitely pull off a cocky character if need be.

Personally, I don't see anything at all in Ted Dibiase Jr. I think he will be the one to ride off his dads name and achieve something his dad never did, just like Orton. However I don't think he's deserving of it. Neither Him nor Rhodes are. I just see a hell of a lot of upside in Cody Rhodes. He's got the cockiness, and charisma to be a big time player. Plus he can tell a story in the ring better than Dibiase. I don't really know though. It's still way to early to tell with these two.

Ted Dibiase Jr. is the breakout star in Legacy. Cody Rhodes lacks one important thing that many wrestlers had before him... the IT factor. He doesn't stand out. He's monotone, has a generic look, and generic moves. Ted Jr. has name recognition, looks, and a style that can be adapted to be superstar quality.

Anyone in a B-Movie stands a chance of standing out in the grand scheme of things and he also has the charisma to be a face and the attitude to be a heel. With Cody, no one really cares about him.

I agree about Cody Rhodes not having "IT". I dread every time Cody gets the microphone, because his promos seem awkward, like he isn't really that comfortable talking. Perhaps he is a little self conscious about his speaking, I don't know. In order to get either loved or truly hated by a WWE crowd, you have to be able to rile them up on the mic. Cody simply can't do that...or at least, hasn't shown that he can quite yet.
I am not 100% sold on Ted DiBiase Jr. either on the mic, but, my impression would be that he is closer to being "ready".

Legacy exists to boost the reputations of both Rhodes and DiBiase by associating them with Orton, in the same way Evolution existed to boost Orton and Batista. The WWE must feel that DiBiase has progressed enough to go it alone, they have been teasing a DiBiase split for a few months now, and appear to finally be ready to pull the trigger (I expect no later than the Rumble). They have not even hinted at removing Rhodes though, which tells me Cody hasn't progressed as well as DiBiase has. When you break up a young tag team, (not a tag team made up of singles wrestlers like a DX, Miz/Morrison or Jerishow or something) one of them invariably becomes the Shawn Michaels, and one becomes the Marty Jannetty. Edge became far more successful than Christian, Jeff Hardy became more successful than Matt, and in my opinion,Ted DiBiase will be more successful than Cody Rhodes.

Your opinion. Fair enough.

In all honesty though, couldn't the exact same be said of Ted Dibiase at this moment in time? Where is the 'IT' factor with Ted Dibiase? I think you could say that he is monotone and generic quite easily actually. What makes Dibiase's look or moves any less generic that Rhodes'?

Ted Jr. has name recognition

So does Rhodes, he has a famous surname too let's not forget. Ok, so maybe Dusty wasn't as big a star as Ted Dibiase in WWE but overall, the name 'Rhodes' has recognition as well.

What does this mean? That he's slightly bigger looking than Rhodes but not actually that big himself?

and a style that can be adapted to be superstar quality.

That very much remains to be seen. This could be said of a few people on the WWE roster surely...

Anyone in a B-Movie stands a chance of standing out in the grand scheme of things

A B movie is bad enough, but one that goes straight to DVD is even worse. I'll admit there is some recognition that comes with it, but not a lot in the grand scheme of things.

and he also has the charisma to be a face and the attitude to be a heel.

I've personally yet to witness this charisma you speak of, but we'll see I suppose when he gets this inevitable push everyone's talking about.

With Cody, no one really cares about him.

I do, more so than Dibiase.

Lariat, I totally respect your opinion, I might disagree but I just didn't think you clearly stated why you think Dibiase is the breakout star here so that's why I broke it down and gave my take on it...

If you asked me this a few months ago I would have said Ted DiBiase not just because he's talented but because he has great potential as a face. But recently Cody has been putting on some decent matches. So i'd also like to know because To me it seems that Codys Been working pretty hard recently.
