Can Smackdown be Saved?

Dark Match Jobber
so we all know that each brand has seen their share of ups and downs, and to a certain extent they've both bounced back. but to me it seems like sd! has seen more slumps, and each time it gets worse. now with the reformation of ecw, there's bound to be guys going from sd! to ecw. i'm just wondering if this might be the beginning of the end for sd!. i watched it the other nite, and we got treated to a main event of lashley kissing 'king' booker's boots... but even when they were at full tilt, there was always something about sd! that just seemed inferior. personally, here's how i think it should play out: guys from sd! and raw decide to bury the hatchet and unify into one brand(raw) so that they can work together to go up against ecw...ecw does their tv tapings on tues. nights where sd! used to, and it airs either thurs. or fri. nite. this, of course, could only happen when and if the ecw re-launch is a success. that way, you have 2 exciting brands that ppl actually will want to tune into instead of 1. what do u all think?

I don't think it can, it is to much like WCW imo, and i don't think they can save it now.
They have the Undertaker and that is it. Then they got Batista, he can go nowhere now since he lost the WHC, they lost Angle. So no, there is no saving SD now.

either have another draft where the rosters would be spread out evenly
that's the problem Raw gets all the good guys
i personally think if Vince showed more interest in Smackdown it wouldn't be that bad
or just put an end to the brand split
then bring back Eric Bischoff as Smackdowns GM...he always does good

Well, the thing is is that SD is to many rest holds. The superstars have no stamina on SD, so yeah, a brand re-uniting would be just great for SD. I hope to see it in the near future.

If Vince wanted to ... then YES!
Raw
Edge
Kane
Cena
Carlito
Masters
Benjamon
Big Show
Triple H
Shawn Michaels

Smackdown
Batista (out for 34 more days)
Undertaker (part time)
Great Khali (cant wrestle!)
Mark Henry (injures the whole locker room!)
Randy Orton (still out)
Rey Mysterio
Lashley
Finlay
Booker T

If Raw would do something like Edge & Big Show----> Smackdown, then Smackdown can be much better than Raw! On Smackdown Edge would be able to fued with Taker,Lashley,Orton,Batista,Booker T and Big Show can fued with Batista,Orton,Undertaker,Lashley and maybe even tag with Rey Mysterio to make a hell of an awkward tag team!

smackdown could easily be saved by vince. Just send some stars from raw over to smackdown. The friday night timeslot doesn't help either, because no one is usually home on fridays. When the stars from smackdown come back from injuries, the ratings will probably raise a lot

Booker T is by far the most entertaining thing they have...He is great..but what they need to do is move off friday nights when they know they arnt the best show...wednsday would be better or thursday..

I agree with you that booker is the most entertaining they have right now, and i really want to see him be champ

i dont think sd is burried and can only be saved by vince, its just that they've been burried by injuries and ortons suspension. batista, orton and kennedy are all coming back and im sure benoit will eventually. so even though sd isnt at the level of raw, they are definatly not burried.

Booker is the most electrifying man in sports entertainment today. At least on SD he is. Can't wait for Orton, Batista, Benoit, and Kennedy to come back.

Correct me if i'm wrong but wern't they moved off Thursdays to the poorer time slot because the ratings were already poor. SD has the roster if used properly. Yes things will improve when Orton/Batastia get back but it won't help save the show. The writing is awful and it's like the attitude era never happened. If I was a Raw star and got told I was being Drafted to SD my response would be "why what have done wrong?". It's the B show by a mile and may even be overtaken by ECW. If that happens I expect the end of the brand split. (by the way I know the writing on Raw is also lacking sometimes but if you look at the over long dragged out fueds and the unnessecery silly storylines over the past 18 months on SD you'll see what I mean).:wwf:

Booker-Regal-Finlay as a de facto stable has so much potential. It could carry Smackdown all the way to Batista's return, and hopefully set up the Booker-Batista World Title feud.

Cena won't lose his title at One Night Stand, but Rey probably will (and he'll lose it in what looks to be the best match of the night, perhaps even the year). From there, you could have a brand-merging which leaves us with 120 superstars on one roster (granted, only a combined 50 or so actually perform), or a tournament for Smackdown's new champion. The tournament option is always fun, isn't it?

I totally agree with the stable with booker, it could be very big and take over smackdown, then batista comes back and says he's sick of them

Yea... I barely see smackdown since it moved to Fridays b/c im usually buisy! SD ratigns would def. go up just by moving it back to Thursday nights!

I think that raw and smackdown should be able to pick one superstar from ecw and raw/smackdown like what ecw have done.

thats a great idea, but unlikely to happen

Smackdown can be saved there are many talented performers there such as Matt Hardy, Booker T, Mr. Kennedy, Finlay and many others all they need is a big push; the same way it was done for JBL who was a mid card. I think Matt Hardy and Finlay are great in ring performers in fact Matt is ten times more impressive in the ring than Mark Henry. Smackdown can do without the Raw Superstars. Sure Undertaker, Angle and all these guys are great but Smackdown can do without them. The wwe survived without Rock and Austin it can survive without Angle, Batista, Benoit, Undertaker and the rest. I think it's time they take a chance on Booker T and stop giving him those cheap cowardly storylines.

The Booker, finlay, Regal faction could be cool. The brands reuniting would be even greater. I would love to see something like that.

I totally agree with that, and i hope they stay around, and could take over smackdown somewhat like evolution on raw

Maybe, they could fued with DX on Raw and we could then lead us into a Brand reuniting. OMG i wish that would happen.

Smackdown's got hope, but it's very dim. You got guys like Kurt Angle off the show now, so that really doesn't give the show much credibility than its counterpart. Johnny Nitro went over to RAW, so that split up one of the best new Tag Teams that was on Smackdown. Simon Dean is still jobbing, instead of pulling off all those crazy innovative moves that he used to do in the indies as Nova. Paul Burchill is getting buried without even landing a single move on opponents now. Eddie Guerrero passed away. Randy Orton's out. Batista is still out, even though he's returning soon. Ken Kennedy has charisma, but I'm not a fan of him from what I've seen while he was uninjured. I don't like the Great Khali and him winning over Undertaker doesn't impress me. Mark Henry just doesn't cut it as one of Smackdown's main event players. That only leaves Rey Mysterio and the cruiserweights. Come to think of it, the cruiserweights are the only entertaining superstars on Smackdown in my opinion. Fit Finlay and Chris Benoit are the only other two wrestlers I like. I'm not too sure what they can do as far as storylines are concerned with the amount of guys that they have now. The storylines that they do come up with do get old fast (ex. Boogeyman).

i agree with the combined show but i think they should still keep smackdown that way its not like having alot of stars on one show trying to get a spotlight and make a name for themselves. but good idea
