Burn Notice

What season are you guys on? Hoping to jump in but avoid spoils... I just finished fifth, should i scurry off with my tail between my legs??

I've missed almost this entire fucking season, I wish they'd go back to putting the replays on after RAW, instead of giving me Suits & Covert Affairs. Hopefully I'm able to catch-up before the new season starts.

Well, I would say rent it, but the season isn't over yet. It's just taking a break until winter. You might try Hulu though, I'm not sure how far back their free section goes.

There were some things I thought were pretty stupid. Especially His mom. Someone's been asking questions about Michael using various disguises. Oh hi, guy asking questions about Michael. Let me tell you everything.

That was kind of frustrating, but it was understandable considering that she was just trying to keep the kid. Still annoying, though.

Other than that, I thought most of it was good -- the opening of the episode was one of the better ones I can ever remember seeing. The visuals were great.

Still, Maddy should've at least asked a little more before divulging info on Michael. But I'm wondering how things will go down towards the end.

It was alright. I got the feeling though that they are out of ideas now. What's the difference between Jack Coleman's character and John C. McGinley's character last year? It all felt a little too much like "meet the new boss, the same as the old boss".

I hate how the original idea of the show has been completely lost. The point of the show was super spy helping ordinary citizens, but that was lost a while ago.

It felt like they completely rebooted the show, to be honest. Michael is now working deep-undercover with the CIA, Fi, who has wanted Michael and to be with him for 6 years, has not only dropped him but is living with another man and working as a bounty hunter, Jesse is working for another, bigger company as security, and Sam is...well...still sponging off Elsa. Good to see some things never change. :)

Not only that, but it's sloppy writing to have Maddy volunteer information so quickly regarding Michael. She's been through how many missions and escapades with them and has never broken, and suddenly she volunteers information? At least, it seems, the man Michael went deep undercover to get, and did, has ties to the man with the fake accent.

But Fi pisses me off the most. She doesn't get that what Michael did was to give her, Jesse, Sam, and Maddy their freedom after he killed Card and sent Reilly away, and now, it's as if he never existed, despite her desperate pining for him year after year. Most of me hopes they don't wind up together.

It wasn't a bad episode, and I thought the scenes with Michael were very good. It seems he's soon headed back to Miami, so hopefully he and his old team will be re-united sooner then later. Only 12 episodes left to tie the loops of the storyline.

That started happening what, season 4 with Vaughn? And the whole Anson storyline in season 5 completely changed the show.

Pretty much. I prefer spy intelligence film over spy blow shit up film. The first episodes were far more about using intelligence to accomplish missions, as opposed to guns and explosives. I prefer that.

For me, that was part of the show's original appeal; it wasn't just Michael running at his foes head-on -- he was generally under-manned, under-equipped, and it was entertaining to see Michael handle those situations with some outside-of-the-box thinking. The super spy thing is fairly overplayed and underwhelming, but I think the premiere managed to stay away from that. Sure, Mike might have the backing of the CIA, but he's still mostly on his own to figure out how to deal with his issues.

I thought the Anson storyline was really well-done, with a terrible conclusion. I think that was truly where the show started to change somewhat, with the closing off of Jere Burns'Anson) arc on the show through the rest of the season.

Much less cunning and planning, more 'shoot our way out' scenarios. I hope they find a satisfying conclusion that allows Michael to realize he enjoys helping people more then anything.

And killing off, or keeping her and Michael apart at least, would be a suitable end to Fi's arc. :p

I take it you were a fan of the Mission:Impossible series Sly?

Since I don't have the Board Room Discussion Thread anymore, I'm bumping this thread.

Awesome episode this week. I cannot wait to see how this season (and the series) wraps up -- it's looking promising.

Best episode of the season so far. It's a shame the show is ending, but where else could they goa/ Only Jesse truly feels fresh, and his rapport with Sam is some of the best stuff on the show. The two of them working as bounty hunters after Mike made for some lighter faire on the show, and Sam feigning shock at Jesse's "death" before "dying" himself was truly funny.

Is there anyone else who hopes Mike and Fiona don't wind up together? He made a deal to protect her, from jail we find out in this episode, and she still, instead of seeming the slightest bit grateful, wants nothing to do with him ever again. Part of me hopes he winds up with Sonya, the "key" to everything, whom good ol Bruce sacrificed himself to save last week. She just seems to have that badass quality that Fiona aims for, yet hasn't used her sexuality to get what she wants, like Fiona constantly tries to.

But alas, Carlos will prove to be a central piece to the mystery of all of this, bad of course, and Fi will run back to Michael in the finale, with him embracing her with open arms, his priorities finally straight. Because taking on this mission to keep her and the rest of his merry crew out of jail wasn't enough, I suppose.

Good episode this week.

I've never seen it.

Another good season thus far from Burn Notice. However, I'm glad this is the final season, because it's better to go out now than when it's no longer interesting.

Paraphrasing:

"Send out the man with the chin." :lmao:

She didn't know. Fiona did not know Michael did that to protect her, it was mentioned on this week's episode.

What I'm hoping, more than anything else, is the last episode of the series comes back full circle to the first. In the last episode, I want Michael to use his spy skills to help some Miami innocent. I miss that part of the show.
