I'll probably like it. I love neo-noir type stuff. Chinatown's my all time favorite. I loved Fargo. Vertigo(I think it's considered neo-noir) was awesome.

Saw it when it was in theaters and loved it. Should rightfully be Eastwood's last film because it just sums up his entire career perfectly.

Brick was awesome. It kept me up till three and made me forget about the Repo! abortion.

It may just be my love of detective films, but I thought it was great.

Glad you liked it. I've got my eye on Rian Johnson, have to get around to seeing his new flick The Brothers Bloom, though I haven't heard very good things about it.

Keanu's not as bad as people think. He was great in My Own Private Idaho. He ain't exactly going to be winning and Oscar anytime soon though.

I still have too many TV shows on my DVR to even attempt to crack into one of the dozens of movies on it. Right now I'm watching that show Kings. The show is okay, but I basically find myself watching it because there are so many people who were on Oz in it. Oz is the shit.

The story has great potential. But that movie was pure drivel. You could of stuck Robert De Niro in there and it would've been shit.

But yeah, Cage was awful in that movie. I don't understand Cage at all; one minute he's blowing you away in Leaving Las Vegas, the next he's making you laugh at him in Con Air.

Put the bunny....in the box.

New films on tap: Blue Velvet, Sin City, and Perfume.

I've yet to see any of these.

The reason why I don't have a hardon for Tarantino is, imo, his films don't have a soul. They're witty, smart, cool, and every other good thing, but they don't have a universal human experience, a message. That's my view.

Fuck the other two, watch Blue Velvet and do so immediately. My all time absolute favorite film, ever. Seen it nearly 300 times and I never get tired of it, it's by far the most beautiful piece of art I've ever encountered in my time on this Earth. Watching that movie takes my mind away to a whole other plain of existence. I've probably already overhyped it for you, but seriously, go watch it right now. I've seen thousands of films and none of them hold a place in my heart like Blue Velvet.

You don't need a message to make a good film. In fact the majority of films that are made don't have any message. I'm not really looking for any kind of message when it comes to crime films though.

Speaking of movie bullshit...currently watching the Three Amigos with Chevy Chase, Steve Martin & Martin Short. I forgot how ridiculiously funny this is, I'm litreally in tears right now watching them perform "My Little Buttercup" to a bar full of angry drunk Mexicans.

Come back Chevy...we miss you!

I'll ignore that because I want to like the film.

I don't think Tarantino is bad and that you need a message to make a good film, but I feel that to be truly great your movie has to say something. I think movies should be judged on two levels. On one level you should look at the movie and judge it based on all the typical categories(cinematography, acting etc.), but the on the other level you should examine it like a piece of literature. 'What does it say about life?' and such.

I'll have to look into that.

Just got done watching The Virgin Suicides for the first time. I thought about doing a complete review in the Movies Section... but eh, I don't feel like it. I'll just say here that it was fucking terrible. Some good music and decent acting, but overall... complete crap.

Yeah Virgin Suicides has some serious flaws, but I still overall enjoyed it. Probably because of my love for Sofia Coppola after Lost In Translation.

Music is definately great though, I love the scene where Josh Hartnett is walking through the hallways to "Magic Man" by Heart. Classic stuff there, Sofia's got a good ear for music matching with film.

What'd you think about Marie Antoinette?

Yeah, I loved Lost in Translation as well.

That was definitely awesome. Also, I loved the scene where Hartnett and Dunst make out for the first time in his car, and "Crazy on You" by Heart plays in the background.

But my favorite is from Lost in Translation when Bill Murray karaoke’s "What's So Funny 'Bout Peace, Love and Understanding". That scene and song period never gets old.

What'd you think about Marie Antoinette?

Never checked it out. Do you recommend it?

I'm curious as to the boards consensus on Michel Gondry films?

I've only seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Human Nature from him, but I thought both were fantastic. I've been meaning to watch Be Kind Rewind, but just never got around to it. It's on HBO all the time, so I don't know why I haven't watched it yet. But I will eventually.

I havent seen that either, but I have seen both you mentioned above as well as The Science of Sleep starring Geal Garcia Bernal, from the equally fantastic Y Mama Tu Tambien

I love you two guys, finally some people on this board with some movie knowledge.

Michel Gondry is great, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is a flat-out masterpiece. The Science of Sleep is wonderful as well. Human Nature is currently on my DVR, I just haven't gotten around to watching it yet. I'll probably love it because of my absolute obsession with Charlie Kaufman.

Y Tu Mama Tambien is fantastic as well.

As for Marie Antoinette, I'd recommend anyone who enjoys Coppola's work to check it out. It's not great, but it's not nearly as bad as the critics said it was. Sofia shows off her excellent taste in music again with great songs by New Order, The Cure and Adam & the Ants among others. Jason Schwartzman and Steve Coogan are in it as well so thats usually enough for me to check out any movie. Not great, but good.

I mean, how can you not love this trailer for it? One of my all time favorite trailers. Probably because it's my favorite New Order song.

Gotta say though, I'm not a very big Kirsten Dunst fan.
