Bret plugging Drew... New manager idea?

Radical Canadian Goose

Getting Noticed By Management
So Bret too a shot at creative for throwing Drew on superstars. Was it on purpose? The rumours have been flying all week that Managers are comng back based on Michael (I love the exposure) Hayes accompanying Tyson ( has anyone seen Jackson Andrews) kidd to the ring this week. also everyone in the IWC wants Drew as a face, so would it make sense for Bret to manage Drew?

It could make sense. I'm not sure how good a manager Bret would be, but seeing him mentor a young face would be cool.

Jackson Andrews was sent back to FCW after he was destroyed by Mark Henry and subsequently released altogether.

I don't like the idea. Bret Hart wouldnt be a great manager for the main reason that he is still too big a star to be managing a lower midcard guy. Drew would get lost in the mix and it would be become about Bret. Also, in my opinion as a face, Bret is pretty boring. He was a great heel so unless he was used more as a leader than a manager it would amount to nothing.

Bret is done being on the road. While I think it could be pulled off, Bret wouldn't be able to take many bumps, which is important for managers to be able to take. Another issue would be getting the crowd to boo Bret. Bret is pretty loved and respected. That's not to say it can't be done, but it's an obstacle none the less. But, while we're on the topic, you are right in the idea that Drew may be one of those guys that needs a manager. I just don't think Bret Hart is a possibility.

I think Bret would over shadow Drew like he did when he was with the Hart Dynasty. Thats the problem when u put a legend with a mid carder.

I have to agree with big daddy kewl, he would definitely overshadow McIntyre because of his legend status and his on and off again heat with Vince. Remember what happened to Sean O Haire because of the Roddy Piper incident. Plus, the manager is usually the mouthpiece for a competitor, I can't see Bret as a mouthpiece. He was never good on the mic himself. This would not be a good match at all.

Being a Canadian and having lived in Calgary for several years in the mid 90's, I love Bret as a wrestler but I just don't see him in a strictly manager role. When the Hart Foundation was around, it was good because he was the champ so he was the mouth piece for the group but would also get in there and fight. But with his health, he can't fight and I just don't see him as a mouth piece alone. I think that was the reason why he did relatively little with the Hart Dynasty when he was in wwe. If they want a manager for Drew, why not just use Piper? Sounds simply and corny, but they both have the whole Scottish thing going and Piper is far enough removed from the current wwe universe that his own past wouldn't overshadow Drew.

I would love to see the guys from the 80-90s as managers for the current roster but brett with drew NO only if its part of a faction that brett is running !!1 maybe willam regal or piper I would be cool with. brett should run the new hart foundation with smith and nat and maybe a few new guys not tyson kid if anything tyson and david hart smith should form the new british bulldogs like davy boy and dynomite kid . drew should be managed by someone like jake the snake roberts and become like him the guy that sets the new guy up to face the champ.

why would anyone ever suggest this?? have you heard bret on the microphone?? the last few times were physically painful to sit through but he was never good on the mic to begin with...show me a great bret hart promo....there isnt one.

I personally would not like it because bret hart is not the best guy on the mic. He is a legend but something about his voice just annoys me. I also do not think he could handle life on the road again, it takes a lot out of young wrestlers, he would end up being like Undertaker and never be there half the time for Drew so it would not work.

I agree with what everyone is saying here, the whole point of a manager is for them to be the charismatic mouth piece for those who they manage when they can't get the job done themselves. Bret is a legend there is no denying that but he is not a legend because of his mic skills he is a legend because of what he can do in the ring and he can't do that anymore. Even if he could still handle the schedule and the physicality of it all it still wouldn't be good because like people are saying it would still the spotlight off Drew. Maybe not intentionally, but that's what would happen.

Whether it's a hint of something brewing or not, it's nice that someone as esteemed as Hart is showing some support for McIntyre... it's seriously borderline criminal how under-utilized the guy is. He's great in the ring & he's got the right look, though can't really comment on his promos because he hasn't had much opportunity aside from the vignettes with Kelly. I've long had the impression he could easily fill the role that Orton once had years ago. It was so stupid to move him to RAW, because they've got plenty of heels already & he's just getting buried there. If they kept him on SD, he could be feuding with Christian & Orton right now. Making him a face may just be the only way to make him relevant on Monday nights....

Definately a bad idea making Bret the manager for Drew McIntyre. It just simply would not make any sense. To be honest, I think Bret's comments about Drew were just him voicing his opinion and no other motive other than that. I'd love for Bret to be involved in the creative side of WWE as he has a good eye for talent and knows what the fans want in my opinion.

I think the idea of bringing back Roddy Piper in a manager role for Drew McIntyre is a great idea. I really think that would inject new life into him. I think Drew McIntyre is potentially great and although I don't think he is main event material yet, he should at the very least be working at mid-card level. Bret is right to point out the fact that it is a disgrace he is jobbing on superstars!

Both Drew McIntyre and Chris Masters in my opinion showed this past week on superstars how good they are and I think both could do huge things given the spotlight. Let's get behind these guys!

Bret returned and he was very average on the mic. Infact, as a face he was very average throughout his career. But he did soem great promos as a heel during his 96/97 run. He cut some great ones with HBK and Austin.

This is a decent promo...better than alot I have seen in the last 6/7 years anyway.

Drew is one of my top ten wrestlers and all but i agree with owen8472, Reddog1146, and BigDaddyKewl. Owen said that Drew having a manager would be a good idea and i agree, but i just don't see Bret & Drew coexisting all that well which leads me to what Reddog1146 said. Bret is AWFUL on the mic and everybody knows that a good manager has to talk good to build up his or her superstar. Drew has limited mic skills and Bret has none so I think this would be a terrible combination. Drew needs somebody that has good mic skills like Roddy Piper, Jake Roberts, etc. Finally, BigDaddyKewl said that somebody with the legendary status of the Bret Hart would just overshadow Drew. Everybody would just come to see Bret and not Drew (who has a ton of talent but is misused). I like the idea of Drew having a manager but not Bret Hart. Bret can't even take a bump for Christ's sake! :banghead:

A has been, plugging a no body?

Awesome

I don't find him entertaining at all. He hasn't had a good story or feud in over a year, and his chosen one status is long gone.

I think the chosen ones next push is out the door, he'll be chosen and wished luck in his future endeavors

Once again not on RAW!!
I don't think that Bret Hart can do anything for him...

Vince and Bret are not the best friends, so everything Bret says Vince just don't give a fuck...

Drew McIntyre has a lot of potential, but even I know that a lose against Chris Masters on Superstars isn't something good, he will most likely be future endeavored now!
But since he is only 25 years old, well who knows, maybe he can stay and have his push, but not as a heel and definitely not on RAW.
