Border Toss

I don't understand how this isn't Hernandez fault too.

Exactly my original point. But it doesn't matter since this thread was based on false information, which means that the botched Border Toss only happened once and hasn't been a recurring issue.

I tend to agree with Lance Storm when he said it's one of the most dangerous moves in Professional Wrestling (he said both the Razors Edge and the Border Toss). It should be banned. It's basically an easy way to create a head injury.

here's the quote, from his most recent Q&A on his website.
Q: Is there any move that, no matter how well it's executed, makes you cringe?

A: Sheamus’s Razor’s Edge type move, and Hernandez’s Border Toss, are very bad in my opinion. When you are thrown like that and have to bump with forward movement you almost ALWAYS bang your head. Both moves should be banned in my opinion.

1. We have two injuries here. The one common factor is Hernandez.

2. The Border Toss and Razor's Edge are the same in setup only for the most part. It would be like crashing while in a plane and crashing from the same height without a plane. Both are going to hurt quite a bit but you're going to feel a bit better and have a better chance of survival if there's something taking away some of the impact, in this case the guy giving you the move. In the Border Toss, you're in total free fall.

3. Since when is Jesse Neal a star?

He also does it safer than anyone I've seen. The only person I've seen take it wrong was Evan Bourne, but he kind of always takes power moves weird.

Click to 5:52 for the Crucifix. Evan Bourne sells like he has no bones.

Personally, I think that there is a big difference between the Razor's Edge/Celtic Cross and the Border Toss. Sure the set up for all three is the same but the execution after the opponent is up in the crucifix position makes a massive difference. The likes of Hall and Sheamus protect their opponent somewhat by following them down (although the video posted above was not one of Sheamus' safest efforts). This not only reduces the height from which they fall, it also prevents the opponent from over-rotating and landing squarely on the back of their heads. Hernandez's Border Toss has no such protection as he is throwing the opponent rather than "driving" them into the mat and once he lets go of them, there is a complete lack of control of the impact suffered.

I think there is a similar comparison to a properly done powerbomb and the way that Kevin Nash did his jack knife variant which for me was always an even worse version of an already incredibly dangerous move.

It's all in the impact. I always thought the Razors Edge looked a lot gentler, as the thrower was planting them. The Toss is dangerous because at least it creates a whiplash effect if taken well, if taken, delivered, landed badly, it's dangerous and the head is susceptible to concussion etc.

I guess people ignored me posting where an actual famous professional wrestler (who is now running a very successful Wrestling School) said that they both are incredibly similar, and both are incredibly dangerous.

Lets just go with our own assumptions, people. We clearly know more then actual wrestlers....

I don't know how to bump, but common sense will tell you that holding the opponents arms as they fall is safer than, y'know... not holding their arms.

Outside of D-Man, Im sure none of you know how to take an actual bump, so honestly why even critique it?

So you include yourself in this so why critique our critique?

It's not rocket science. Is there any reason to be a knob Monkey or are you just living up to the gimmick again?

I don't understand how this isn't Hernandez fault too.

By ragdolling his legs, he caused his body to need to turn when they kicked up? He didn't start to turn (which caused him landing on his neck) until he was almost gonna kick himself in the face

Although he didn't have much choice since Hernandez didn't throw him hard enough and he was going to kick Hernandez in the back of the head, it could easily be remedied by Hernandez ducking a bit more after the throw, it also sells that he threw him harder
