I've had an idea for creating a new 'faction' in WWE. It starts with Kofi getting a shot at The Miz's U.S. Title. Big Show is at ringside, and makes a couple of interfering moves...a shot when the ref isn't looking, a kick on the outside. Down walks Daniel Bryan. The Miz is annoyed at his presence, but the match continues. Eventually Big Show gets the attention of the ref, while Miz is waiting to nail Kofi with a chair. Bryan takes the chair away, Miz turns and yells at him, then turns around into Trouble in Paradise and a pinfall. ShowMiz is incensed, and challenge Bryan and 'his partner' to a match. Bryan says only if it's a title match, Show tries to talk him out of it, but Miz agrees. Next week, we see Kofi in the back, laid out. Tag Title match is next, ShowMiz are in the ring, and they call out Bryan. Bryan comes out, ShowMiz mockingly ask where Kofi is. Bryan says he's being treated, but he's ok enough to watch Bryan and his partner win the titles. ShowMiz go nuts, but they never said his partner was Kofi. Bryan introduces his partner, John Morrison. Miz is beside himself, but here we go. Match ensues, Bryan gets thrown to the outside. Miz is about to to nail him with one of the tag titles, but out of nowhere Kofi comes out and takes it away. Morrison nails him, tosses him into the ring where Bryan has crawled back in, and locks a submission hold (Cattle Mutilation, perhaps?), and the win while Morrison ties up Show. The new faction now hold the tag & U.S. titles, ShowMiz is PO'd, and we have a feud. This will let Kofi & Morrison get much-needed purpose and someone to feud with, will let Kofi move on and feud with someone for the U.S. title and will let Miz get a shot at the main event. Perhaps a Miz-Show feud comes up, or maybe they keep each other's backs. The 'faction' help each other out, but don't really do anything illegal to interfere...setting up a future angle where someone crosses that line, the rest aren't happy about it, trouble ensues. The members basically have each others backs, preventing outside interference without so much causing it. They'll let each other lose honestly, but won't allow post-match beatdowns.
It requires a little help from the draft (though WWE isn't exactly a stickler for brand permanence), and from NXT, but if done well it creates some nice undercard heat and hopefully a boost for Morrison & Kofi. They could bring in one or two others maybe, or just keep it at three. I originally thought of bringing in Christian to have a world title contender in the mix, but I hadn't come up with a good excuse to bring him in yet. I know it won't happen, but what do you think? Is there a place for a face faction in WWE at all?
