Book This! Mock Draft 2009

Uncle Sam

Rear Naked Bloke
MD-2.png

Stage One: Ended. Compile a list of 75 wrestlers, a list of 6 commentators and a list of 3 GMs. You will be given your thirty most desired wrestlers that do not unfavourably clash with someone else's list. The same is true for your two commentators and standalone General Manager. Lists are due on June 9th. PM them to me; DO NOT post them.

Stage Two: Starts June 12th, after I tell you what your rosters are. You are required to write one show using your roster. This will be due in on June 26th, two weeks after June 12th.

Stage Three: Only for those who want to do it - carry on writing your shows using your roster.

The three different sections represent three different "universes". Rosters between sections are allowed to clash.

I may be a complete nerd and write a backstory for why this is happening. In fact, I think I'll definitely do that.

The point is, you can carry it on if you want. It's just that the majority of people dropped out after one show. I figured fuck it, why not just make them do one supershow and then they can do more shows if they're so inclined?

I'll give it a go. I did pretty well in the UWF: Mock Draft V, I think I either tied first with Sam or came a close second. It's a shame we never finished it, there was only one show left to post too.

I know that I said no limit, but I think ten is pushing it. Let's just say we're full. I'll PM you all closer to the time. Start thinking up clever concepts and arranging your rosters strategically. The notes application on my iPod will come in handy.

I was on vacation for part of the UWF 5. I spent like half of the trip reading it. I was sad when it didn't finish.

Was that my fault? I don't think it was. But seriously guys; one show. Just one. You can do that for me, right? I don't give a shit how bad your roster turns out.

Seriously debating doing this. But I need a bit more info, Sam.

Few Questions..

1. When will the Show(s?) be due/how long will we have to write them out?

2. How many guys are we drafting/will we have on our show?

3. Will their be a Draft, in which we take turns picking our guys.. Or is this (as slightly mentioned in opening post) a situation in which we write out 100 guys.. and you divide our guys up, by some type of system??

4. When will this be starting?

More Questions, possibly still to come.. depending on the answers I get.

Seeing as how so many good people get it, I'll have to widen the limit. I'm contemplating splitting it into two sections. Otherwise everybody's going to get a pretty poor roster. As for Will's questions:

1. When will the Show(s?) be due/how long will we have to write them out?

That's really two questions. Cheat.

Anyway, let's say that the deadline for me receiving your lists is the 12th of June - get to writing, boys - and I'll hopefully get your rosters back to you the next day, you'd then have until the 20th (a Saturday) to write your show. Do people find that sufficient?

Like I said though, you can make it about more than one show if you're so inclined.

As for how long, no limit. Sure, people can abuse that and write novels (perhaps you for one), but it's just as much about style as it is length.

2. How many guys are we drafting/will we have on our show?

30 wrestlers, 2 commentators and 1 GM. Mini-lists for the GM and commentators.

3. Will their be a Draft, in which we take turns picking our guys.. Or is this (as slightly mentioned in opening post) a situation in which we write out 100 guys.. and you divide our guys up, by some type of system??

The latter. The "you take a pick, I take a pick, he takes a pick..." system is all well and good, but has been shown to take fucking forever. People lose interest quickly. The wildcard nature of this new system is also quite cool.

I didn't explain the system in great detail, so I'lll give it another shot.

1. You each give me list of 100 wrestlers, a list of 10 commentators and a list of 10 GMs. They can be from every period. No wrestlers, however, can be used as GMs or commentators. That rules out Foley, JBL, Tazz... you get the point, though you can use them as commentators or GMs if you pick them up as wrestlers. These lists make up your desired roster. You get 30 wrestlers, 2 commentators and, obviously, 1 GM.

2. Perfect world, everyone gets their top 30. Obviously though, there will be clashes. If one person wants wrestler A and another person wants wrestler A, the person who has wrestler A highest on their list gets him. However, if they have him at the same number, it's randomly chosen who gets him. This goes on until everyone has thirty wrestlers from as high on their list as possible... without clashing with someone else's. Same with commentators and GMs.

3. Write your damn show.

4. When will this be starting?

June 12th, unless anybody has a massive problem.

More Questions, possibly still to come.. depending on the answers I get.

Shoot.
