Book This! - General Discussion

You need 3 more non-spam posts. Maybe try and review 3 shows in the BT! section and you'll probably get the required posts to start a thread.

I'm at a loss with the TNA/WWE BT Showcase. I had a writer leave the project & I don't wanna write 4 matches for myself, so I need someone to step up and write two of them.

They HAVE to be an "amazing" quality, I'm looking for long, detailed matches, anyone up for it?

if im not too late again sure ill do it depending on whos in the matches.

Even without the other matches, we're at 230k characters and almost 40k words. That's not just Rumble though, it includes all the commentary and match promos etc ...

I would be very disappointed if the Rumble didn't go over 10,000 words to be honest. I'd be aiming for at least 13,000.

Slowly writing Sacrifice at the moment. I've been sick the last couple of days so the show has been stuck on the first match with Kaz and Red. This should be one of the easiest matches to writing since I can throw in some high flying moves and keep the action going.

It was probably a good thing that I chose to start my show after the rumble. It would take me forever to to type it and it would probably be over 50,000 words :0
I've noticed that every episode I've typed, the word count increases. My first show was 3,000 words. My latest show is 10,000 words. :)

The match goes just over 60 minutes which would equal 12,000 words at 200 words for each minute. I think for a match as big as the Rumble you need to use the 200 words = 1 minute. If I ever write a Rumble, which will probably happen, I'd aim for 13,000 or more.

almost have the go home show to Genesis done have 1 more segment to write and then just waiting on graphics and then i can post it.

Ha, 10000! As if ... You know my PPV's well enough, 10000 was always too low for me!

Just checked it for real - 24691 words from start to end. That's after the initial entrances of the two men that started. I've averaged out five entrants with their song titles and commentator comments, they're about 70 words maximum each time, 28 times. That's around 2000 words off. There are a couple of other commentator moments so we'll round it to 2691 shall we? That means that my Royal Rumble action takes 22000 words to complete. I've totalled it at almost 62 minutes - that's what I reckon it would have took. 90 seconds x 28 entries = 42 minutes plus another 20 minutes (15 minutes after the #30 entrant and 5 minutes that gets added on due to big entrances).

EDIT: Rumble match is 141,000 characters = 4 posts on here just to fit in the Rumble!

Altogether, the PPV is exactly 37,300 words long. Other than entrances and winners names, there is no wording yet in any of the other matches. It's made up of promos and other stuff (videos). I'm expecting the other matches to make the total PPV word count around the 50,000 mark, maybe heading for 60,000. 225,000 characters used so far, that'll probably finish at around 300,000-350,000 I reckon = up to 9 posts to actually post the PPV.

No wonder it's taking me so long! :)

Book This - SNEAK PREVIEW

WWE = WWF + WCW

In March 2001, the wrestling Monday Night Wars had come to an end, and it was Vincent McMahon Jr. who had been named the victor. McMahon, owner of the World Wrestling Federation purchased his competitor World Championship Wrestling and added it to his own ever expanding brand. McMahon saw WCW and its roster as an enormous opportunity to bring in a whole new fan base and a huge revenue stream for his company. He met with his Board of Directors to determine their direction moving forward. After several closed door around the clock workshops and meetings, Vince McMahon announced that his parent company Titan Sports would be renamed “World Wrestling Entertainment” which would be made up of the brand extension program - World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling brands.

There were many creative concepts thrown around by the Board in terms of a possible Invasion idea or takeover scenario much like the now did in WCW to become the world leader in sports entertainment a few years earlier. However in order to control both huge global brands and ensure the best profit from them and taking ego out of the equation the “brand extension” concept was agreed upon. The World Wrestling Federation’s flagship television vehicle Raw is War or Monday Night Raw, would now be branded as WWF RAW, and the WWF Smackdown! television program would be transitioned to now be known as WCW Nitro in the Thursday night allocated timeslot.

Vince McMahon has announced on his newly named WWE.com website, that although Champions from both federations will not be stripped of their titles, there will be a status quo type situation put in order, allowing for WCW fans to get up to speed with WWF storylines and vice versa. Characters who are traditionally known to be a “babyface” or a “heel” will be reverted to their better known personas to better allow for the new fan bases to grasp all the upcoming storylines that the new WWE creative will now produce. A “soft reset” will be put in place as the WWE and now its main brands WWF and WCW will be the world leader in sports entertainment.

McMahon has been quoted in saying he is very excited to continue to provide wrestling fans with the very best in sports entertainment and showcase the very different types of wrestling that the two companies will out put. Questions have been asked if employees of WCW such as Eric Bischoff will still be employed by the McMahon’s, or if there will be talent crossovers between the shows, with which the WWE Owner replied.. “Tune in and see.”

GrandSword presents WWE = WWF+ WCW coming soon to Book This.

I've been watching to see how many of you gurus and newbies do your huge projects and how you not only do Raw but also Smackdown. I was thinking about it and thought that I could do two different federations at once but at the same time do so in the same timeline and have them interact... Rock guest starring on Nitro, Sting on Raw.. etc. etc.

I'm very excited about this project and I'm going to have a lot of fun posting it when I get the idea down. For example, I want the shows to be noticeably different. So if on Raw you get the opening promo from the WWF Champion that goes about 15 minutes, on Nitro we might open with a fast paced Crusierwieght Match. Backstage segments for Raw, only interviews for Nitro etc.

Hope everyone else is doing well with their projecvts and I look forward to getting this to you guys when I can.

Cheers,

GS

One down with seven to go. Just made a bit of a shuffle to the event with a few segments being moved around and the decision to drop one completely. The special bonus match is up next.
