Biggest Dissapointment of WM26?

Now Wrestlemania 26 was an outstanding pay per view, but there is always that one person or match in particular that let you down.

In my mind it was Shelton Benjamin's poor performance in the Money In The Bank. Yes there were 10 guys in the match, but Benjamin has been in that match for 5 years in a row and has always been phenomenal.

But tonight, I forgot he was even in the match. You saw him in the beginning and then after that he dissappeared.

What was the biggest letdown or dissapointment for you?

Yes Benjamin was the biggest disappoinment of the night. The only thing I remember him doing was doind that hurricanrana to the outside of the ring. I expexted him to do some kind of jumping of a ladder move. But we get nothing. What was the point of putting him in there he did absolutely nothing. Can someone tell me if he even climbed up the ladder once because I really don't remember.

I was disappointed in the booking team. Why would you have a tag match go for 3 mins, and Punk match go for 6 mins. They deserved better than that, and those participants would have put on very good matches if given the right amount of time. The punk match was really good and that went on for 6 flipping mins. Seriously, 6 mins for that match alone is disappointing. The edge vs Jericho match was not given enough time. I think they could have went on a little longer. I think if given another 5 mins it would have been a very good match. However, it was just a good match which had more potential. I can't believe you thought the Triple H match was horrible. It was not great, but it was a good match to watch. Sorry for all my rant. However, the WWE wrestlemania booking team disappointed me. The last 2 matches were excellent and well booked and MITB. It does not excuse for bad booking for the rest of the matches.

Wrestlemania 26 was an amazing event. In my opinion, Cena-Batista wasn't that bad, Money in the Bank was shocking, and HBK-Taker II was THE BEST.

On the other side of things, I thought the HHH vs. Sheamus match was incredibly boring. Triple H just can't pull of a Main Event caliber match to me. Sure, He can tell a story from time to time but, It was just horrible to me. The other match I would have to include in Worst Wrestlemania 26 Match would have to be Bret Hart vs. Vince McMahon. Yeah, It had a huge build up. And, I wasn't even expecting much from this match. But COME ON... It was SO BAD! The referee was giving high fives to the Lumberjacks while Hart continued to hit Vince with a chair at least 20 times.

What do you think was/were the Worst Wrestlemania 26 Match?

I have to say Hart/McMahon which some will disagree with and some won't. I know Bret is limited and its a No Holds Barred street fight match, but it just wasn't entertaining to me at all. It was great to see the Hart family there and to see Bret get retribution, but it was all pretty cheesy and predictable. I would expect Vince to get some actual offense and have a brawl with Bret but instead we got Vince being beaten by every Hart member while the audience sits on their hands. Then Bret throws a few punches and teases the sharpshooter 5 times. Then he hits Vince with a chair 13 times and finally gives the sharpshooter. Really boring match and the whole angle from start to finish has been mediocre at best.

I also hoped MITB would have more spots and action from each of the superstars. There were just too many wrestlers in there to do anything. It was a nice surprise to see Swagger win though. The divas match we all knew would be horrible so I was disappointed by that. Everything else was fine, but Bret and Vince had more of a brawl on Raw then they did at Mania.

Edge losing to Jericho was a huge let down for me. I really wanted Edge to pull out a victory. I didn't think the match was well planned at all. I wish Jericho and Edge would've went on a little longer and simply been a little better. It just didn't live up to the hype for me.

For me, it was the fans......I thought the entire atmosphere in Phoenix was abysmal at best! If I was Vince, I wouldn't look at returning to that stadium again.....there was little to no excitement for any of the matches. The most intense the fans got was during the HBK/Taker match, and a little bit when Batista/Cena were trading blows during their match. Otherwise, this years' event was decent for the most part. I have to admit, I had higher expectations for Bret/Vince, but understand that Bret may or may not have been able to do more....he was just staying safe so it's fine with me...just cool to see him in the ring one last time!

I agree. The crowd is a huge factor and it just wasn't there tonight. When you hear the crowd on their feet screaming their lungs out, It gives something to the match and there wasn't much of that tonight.

Glad I wasn't there, then. I like electric crowds. And even though I live about 5 miles away from the stadium, I'm not gonna pay US$750 for a ticket. What am I, made of money?

Biggest disappointment was probably the poor decision to leave the roof open on the UoP Stadium. As cool as retractable roofs are, I feel bad for the unlucky many who had to sit in the Arizona sun on a day like today. I mean, I was walking home from work and I felt the heat. :/

I was there and yes the crowd sucked

However, the roof was only open during some parts of the night!

here's a picture i took of the people in the sun lol

I agree with the people comments. The atmosphere seemed incredibly lackluster at times, especially during HBK/Taker (no pop for Ankle Lock?) and Edge/Jericho (until the end). However, they were seemingly electric earlier on in the evening. R-Truth had them going, and the Orton pop was huge. Somehow, I guess it died out, seemingly around the time of Bret vs Vince.

It was a good event overall, but the crowd's enthusiasm could have made it better.

Bert vs. Vince, I knew we weren't getting a classic technical masterpiece but I would have at least wanted a heated fight and brawl. I mean it could just be 5 to 10 mins with back and fourth fighting then a face turn for the Hart Dynasty. Bret wins and the Hart Family celebrates.

The one sided bout and overbooking at the start just felt poor.

The whole card was terrible, and I'm tempted to say it was the worst Mania I've ever seen, and I came in with pretty high hopes. The tag title match was worthless, the MITB was poorly executed, the Divas match was highly unnecessary, Jericho-Edge was pretty lackluster, Sheamus-HHH was VERY lackluster, Orton-Legacy was predictable and lackluster, Cena-Batista was average, Taker-HBK was slightly above average, but...that Bret Hart segment...was just the worst thing I have ever...EVER seen. It was interminably long, it felt completely contrived, it felt like it was NEVER going to end, Hart was more embarrassing in the ring then I expected. If the card was a kid who could barely swim treading water, the Hart segment was like a fucking anchor tied to his leg. The event was poorly executed, nobody had any idea who the Hart family was, and the crowd was even deader for that match then the resst of the crowd. Hell, the crowd had livened up a bit coming into that segment, but...I mean...that segment KILLED the heat for the rest of the crowd, with small rejuvenations in Cena-Batista and Taker-HBK. This would have been just a substandard Wrestlemania, below average, but not memorable in any way if it wasn't for that RIDICULOUSLY terrible Hart-McMahon segment which drives it down into the "worst Mania ever" territory. THere was no match that I would feel compelled to watch a second time really, and...

I'm seeing people saying good things about it around here and the Internet, and I just have no clue what the fuck they were watching. This was an abysmal card. I know we all want to be nice because Hart is a stroke victim and "he did what he could", etc., but it was embarrassing to watch. And the hilarious thing about the people propping up the Hart-McMahon fiasco is that most of them are probably the same people who were hating on HOgan and Flair for getting into a tag match with younger talent where they gave them the rub and sold most of the opponents offense. Here's a little FYI: Hogan and Flair were infinitely less embarrassing then Bret Hart.

The matches were solid IMO, it was just that the time given for the tag match and punk-mysterio match were too short. I believe given around 10-15 minutes for the punk-mysterio match it could have definitely stolen the show.

The first thing that disappointed me was the decision to have Jack Swagger win the Money in the Bank ladder match. I was really rooting hard for Christian to win and thought this was finally the night the WWE was going to elevate him to the next level, but instead they give it to Jack Swagger, a man who lost to Santino Marella a few months ago.

The second thing that really disappointed me though was the lack of time given to Rey Mysterio and CM Punk, there was no reason they should have been given 5 minutes, definitely should have received more time than that. Kind of weird though because when I was watching it live, it seemed much longer than 5 minutes, but I guess not.

for me all show was a huge dissapointment it didnt atract me like in past years , matches was so boring , the crowd was dead and results of the main matches was very prodictable , i mean wwe again thought that many fans feel that edge would win and then they give victory to y2j that was huge mistake i mean edge deserves to win title at mania at least once now he always loses since wm 22 its bullshit , it was the worst mania for me , now im sure i quit wwe for ever i watched only ppvs for the last 4 months and now im so upset that i dont wont to watch no more

I have to agree with X. Punk and Mysterio could of put on the best wrestled match of the night if they was given more time but they was given about 6 minutes which was very dissapointing. The match was still very fun even with the limited amount of time they had. If they was given 5 - 10 minutes longer i'm sure it would of gone down as a classic.

Ok so...my thoughts. Firstly, I had a great day - but not because of the wrestling. Because I was with mates and had beer, Pizza etc - and the conversation was about a million times more exciting than WM. Even when we weren't talking. They were all marks that have watched it for a while going by what they knew about current storylines - so it was cool to see what they thought.

Anywho...

R-Truth and John Morrison vs. The Miz and The Big Show
Almost missed this when I got a beer. Saw black guy rapping - made me cringe - went to get a beer and saw Big show win with a punch to the head.

The Money in the Bank Match
Holy shit. With WWE taking all semblance of violence out of wrestling - this match needs to be stopped. Just fucking horrible from start to finish. Hard to watch. Especially Swagger unable to fathom the concept of 'the clasp'.

This is when I realised it was to be a long day.

Bret Hart vs. Vince McMahon: No Holds Barred
This was when I realised I hate WWE. I mean - I dont know how anyone can defend this. From the predictable 'double cross' to McMahon coming out as the face in the end....the story line was bad - the match was divided by zero worse. Even the commentators seemed bored. And I think this match killed the crowd. It did its best to kill me. I found myself defending Harts legacy to those in the room - and I dont even like the guy...but I was all 'man, back in the day he had some good matches...remember him Vs Stone Cold....?" Sad.

I know its illegal to say this...but this match NEEDED blood.

Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk
Rey in Avatar gear and Punk in GI Joe made this an easy match to find someone to back. I literally cant remember any offence Punk got in....anyone?
Rey went through his tried and true motions hes been using for about 15 years. This was Smackdown main event material. Not WM. And they had the chance to do something interesting with Rey - put the guy all the kids love in a team against his will...and see him struggle/resist...but no. Stock Rey match.

Randy Orton vs. Ted DiBiase vs. Cody Rhodes: Triple Threat Match
The set up and outcome where always known - but Randy sold it well. Cody needs to fuck off with his orange panties, white boots (with Zelda logo) and no knee pads.
Ok match - but did nothing to elevate the 'other 2' as I referred to them as.

Triple H vs. Sheamus
Pointless. HHH rarely has good WM matches, despite what the commentators claim. This was another ok match. Thats it. Pretty much kills the white guy though. Seeing the video before I thought "it would be cool to see HHH put him over" - I think I was partially insane at that moment.

Divas Atrocity
Yeah. It was like seeing Seagulls in the ring chasing bread. With all the noise and mess. Best bit was when Vickie did that....whatever...to win the match I said "way to shit on your husbands memory" and my sister said "Who? Edge?". Good times. Enjoyed this more than Harts match though. So points for that.

John Cena vs. Batista
Better than can be expected. But again, this advances no one. This builds no one. Its nothing.

Edge vs. Chris Jericho
2 people fell asleep during this. I was borderline - and I like both guys. The announcer table bit should have happened half way through the match. The reversals were nice - and a couple of the near falls worked. But overall it felt a bit flat.
Was Edge supposed to be heel at the end? It was like he forgot he was a face.

The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels: Career vs. Streak

Awesome match. Loved everything in this one. The ending couldn't have been more perfect.

...

So yeah - didn't enjoy that at all.

Also hilarious - the whole opening video they said 'Wrestlemania Moment!' over and over - and no one had one. At all.

I haven't actually seen Mania yet, because it's on at midnight in the UK, and i've got to work today when normally i wouldn't, plus i'd been on a massive road trip to a football game yesterday, having gotten home, stupidly drunk at 5.15am that very same morning. I was going to avoid all wrestling related web pages until i'd seen the PPV, so that the Streak/Career match wouldn't be ruined for me.

Sadly some idiot i know, had to whinge about HBK retiring because he lost on Facebook, so that ruined the whole surprise element for me, so i've now read the results (Taker/HBK was the only match i cared about anyway).

So i can't talk about the actual matches but i gotta say there is some truly disappointing booking results this year. Swagger won MiTB, over guys like McIntyre, Kofi or Evan Bourne? HHH beat Sheamus? Orton beat both Rhodes and Dibiase?

I mean, what is this? Shit on the mid-card-A-mania?

Swagger winning the MiTB simply says to me that the booking team want to push him, but they don't want to have to put loads of effort in to it. Lots of people have given up on him and were assuming he'd be gone this time next year (hey, could easily still happen). So now he's been awarded the 'Free Title Reign In The Bank' match, and it would appear that sometime in the next year (although let's face it, he'll probably cash in before Summerslam, since Edge is the only one who's actually waited longer than 3 months to cash in), he'll come out at the end of an awesome match, and ruin the whole thing by winning the title in 5 seconds with a sodding gut-wrench powerbomb, and then we'll hate him more, and the creative team will think they've done their job well.

But in fact we'll hate him as champ purely because this scenario is old and outdated, plus we know he'll end up back in mid-card limbo as soon as he drops the belt. If his run continues the way it has been since he moved to Raw, up until he wins the title, then it'll be an epic fail just like Punk's title reigns.

They gave him the case, had him get shit on for 3 months and then suddenly he's the champ. Where is he now? And yeah, before people say it, he is in the best stable going in the 'E', yes he is awesome on ths mic and has loads of talent...... still stuck in the mid-card though.

Moving on.....

Legacy have spent the better part of 2 years trying to get a decent rub from Randy Orton and establish themselves independently from him. They had a decent fued with DX where they actually made the veterans look vulnerable, and that even though they lost more matches than they won, they still looked credible.

Since the Rumble they've looked like 2 rookies trying to piss off a veteran, and last night were justly put back in their places. Orton beating them both makes them look like shit. So now, not only do they wrestle like it's 1975, not only do they have the weediest physiques out of everyone on the Raw roster (not so much Ted, but definitely Cody needs building up), but now 2 of them can't beat one guy. There's no way in hell these two are going to get over any time soon. They either need to be introduced into a major storyline with a big impact, or totally re-molded and start from scratch, because WWE are making these two into jokes. I never thought i'd see second and third gen wrestlers used so poorly, but everyone who's been part of this Legacy stable except for Orton has been shit on as a result.

And finally we come to HHH v Sheamus. Like i said in the random 'will HHH job to Sheamus' thread, storyline-wise it made more sense for HHH to win, i just wasn't expecting it to actually happen. HHH has been getting beaten on for a month straight by Sheamus, and at the biggest PPV of the year, all stories come full circle, so HHH had to get his revenge over his foe, but considering that Sheamus has been built up so much in such a short time, and obviously they're friends, plus HBK is said to have given Sheamus a big pep talk, suggested to me that Sheamus would get the win, so i'm expecting him to have a rematch with HHH sometime soon, and that's where he'll beat him. Otherwise these last 3 months building Sheamus up was a total waste of time.

Didn't expect Jericho to retain either being the ultimate transitional champion, but if Edge's leg is still giving him trouble then we don't need a repeat of 2007 where 2 newly crowned champions had to relinquish the belt within weeks due to injury, straight after one another.

The biggest disappoint ment of the night IMO had to have been Hart vs McMahon, though a lot about Wrestlemania was disappointing. I wondered what they would do since Bret's wrestling abilities were pretty much done. It was sad to watch, the whole Hart family kicking and stomping Vince, the blue crowbar, the match itself was much too long and I was begging Bret to lock in the Sharpshooter and end the match already. I get the fact that Bret would be furious and want to dismantle Vince, but there was no emotion in his attack, no yelling, nothing, just swing strike, swing, strike. As stated the fans were beginning to turn and one of the few bits of commentary I heard all night summed this match up right: King "... this is sad" Very insightful King.

Other disappointments, MITB easily. It was so tame. Most years I wait for Jeff or Shelton to grab a ladder then I wait for one of them to do something really really stupid. This year there wasn't really any exciting spots even with the 2 extra guys. There were a couple cool moves, but nothing out of the ordinary. And Swagger winning just killed the match, especially with his 45 seconds untouched trying to free the damn case.

As for the rest of the card, The tag match and the Punk/Mysterio were too short, though I figured the tag wouldn't get much time and Punk/Mysterio was actually a good match for its short length. I'm looking forward to their next match.

The Legacy match was alright, predictable but with some good spots, didn't see much of a break down of Rhodes and DiBiase though so maybe they will feud with each other.

HHH/Sheamus was better than mot are giving credit for. Just like when fans shit on Cena beating Miz like 4 times, people are boo'ing HHH for not doing the job. Truth be told, despite winning the WWE championship, Sheamus isn't in Trip's league. It makes sense for HHH to win, but I thought he did a good job putting over Sheamus. HHH took a beating and he got the fans to be fully behind him in the end. Now when Sheamus beats HHH at the Extreme rules and puts him on the shelf, Sheamus will finally look legit.

Diva's match I don't need to talk about so...

Edge and Jericho did start out slow, but I really liked the finish. This is the second year in a row that the RR winner didn't win so now it has been shed of its guaranteed victory. Edge and Jericho ended well and the finish with the tables definitely got the fans back into the show.

Cena Batista was alright. Good for the two wrestlers but nothing special. After jobbing to Batista in every match, Cena picked up the much deserved victory. Themone thing I hate about Cena though is his submission and how he makes everyone tap, Tista, HHH, HBK, Benoit, Kane... I am going to hate Cena forever if he beats Taker with that move one day. I just wish it wasn't always with that move. And...

Take/HBK was awesome, glad they saved it last.

The one word I can use to describe this card, Minor Botch-o-Mania. I noticed a lot of moves, a lot of moves, that weren't fully botched, but could've been done slightly better. From the over/under that DiBiase Rhodes did to Orton or didn't do, to Micheals hitting takes legs with that moonsault, to Bournes over shoot of Swagger and the ladder and Vickie's Bullfrog splash and pin where the ref was doing his job a little too well, there were a lot of small errors is what was otherwise an exciting card on paper that didn't live quite up to potnetial. I imagine WWE will make a killing in the PPV buys, but if the biggest event in Wrestling continues to be this flat, fans will shit on future Wrestlemania's to come.

Bert vs. Vince, I knew we weren't getting a classic technical masterpiece but I would have at least wanted a heated fight and brawl

That would have been nice but there was no way it could happen. We saw the way Bret was sucking wind halfway through the match and it was obvious they booked the out-of-ring stuff to give him a break during the action. No, Bret wasn't engaging in give and take.....not on this night.....not ever. I have to give kudos to Vince McMahon though, for taking the brunt of what Bret couldn't physically take. Here was a company owner who was saying to his employees: "I wouldn't ask you to do anything I wouldn't do myself." At age 64, no less.

That said, I was disappointed that the post-match celebration didn't go longer. It was great seeing Natalya and Harry embracing their uncle and I was surprised they cut away from the festivities so quickly. After all, we waited over 12 years for that moment; they should've stayed with it.

I was also disappointed in the ending of the Rey-Punk match. I wanted Rey to lose and be forced to join the Straight Edge Society. Imagine what a continuing storyline the writers could have made from that.

I agree with most of the statements made and since I have had a night to sleep on it, and it really bothered me watching McMahon vs Hart going laster then Mysterio vs Punk.

Punk and Mysterio probably could've stole the show if given 5 more minutes instead we had to watch The Hart Family Reunion destroy Vince McMahon for so long. It was endless.

And to think that Edge and Jericho would be that dissapointing really pisses me off. It was a solid match, but this was the main event I was really hoping for big things from, and instead Cena and Batista had a much better match. The spot at the end with the spear was good, and I am glad Jericho won instead of giving him a 1 month title reign, so not completely dissapointing, but it wasn't as good as it should've been.

Cm Punk vs Rey : 7 minutes ? ! Come on it was Wrestlemania not thursday night superstars... That match could've been awesome if given a little more time, that's my biggest disapointment. I mean they could have given 5 more minutes to Punk vs Rey and 5 less to Hart vs Vince, don't you think?

I think its far from the worst Wrestlemania like some guys are saying, but there were some dissapointments. I think the Morrison tag match was WAY too short and the Big Show punch is a horrible finisher. The MITB match wasn't the best either, but I think that's because we've to to expect so much from it so when they go out there and have an OK match its a big let down. And finally the Edge/Jericho match was a let down after all the build up. I thought it they were giving the right about of time it could have been a great match, but I thinking they'll have Edge win in like a TLC match or something next month at the Extreme Rules PPV. Overall it was a solid show with some high points but it could have been ALOT better.

Btw whoever said the thing about Cody Rhodes outfit.... HAHA my friends and I were saying the exact same thing.
