Best WWE game?

Here comes the pain, Shut your Mouth, SVR 05, and maybe 06. To put it simply, they were fun games. Other WWE games( SVR 07-11) kinda sucked the fun out of it. Sometimes the the frame rate issues killed the entire game or matches just weren't fun to watch. WWE 12 is a starting to bring the simple fun back into it and that all i was hoping for. Hopefully i can answer this question next year and say WWE 13

The first game to include Money in the Bank. Me and my mates played the shit out of that.

Playing WWE All Stars on the Wii and it's ok but not all that. Not sure if it's just the Wii version but it's really limited in what you can do. It's fun but there's like 8 match choices. 3 story lines for story mode and repetitive button mashing. Also, not much to CAW wise. Oh well it was a Christmas present.

I didn't even have to think about this one, because I already knew. Everything about this game was just perfect, even if it was on one of the weirdest consoles known to man. Yes, I will say that I have played a lot of wrestling games that are fun and exciting... but this one is by far the best that they have out there. And no, it didn't have the best roster... or even the best soundtrack... or anything like that... So, why is Day of Reckoning 2 my favorite game?

Simple answer... Season mode, has YET to be matched by any game out there. The way that your character was carried over from the first one and put into this game was epic. It was nice to see that THQ went the extra mile to have consistent flowing storylines throughout the games. It was nice to see that my guy's feud with Evolution in the first one became one of the talked about feuds throughout that season mode.

Even better, the storyline itself was just perfect. The way that your character continued to fight on Raw, only to lose everything from his title to his girlfriend... and then to be fired from Raw after his friends tricked him off of Raw was epic. I really loved it and would play it, if I had it.

Now I get it, most people might think that the other aspects of the game was left to be desired and at times I'll agree... but before SvR 2011 came along, tell me of any other game where you could have a 4 way Last man standing match? No where, that's where... and that's one of the extra reasons why I love that game. To be honest, if I had my game cube and the game, I would still be playing it.

Hmmm... Smackdown 2 Know Your Role.

Why?? Because it had the best roster, yeah the graphics sucked but hey that's 2000 for ya. I really enjoyed the countless hours i had on it with my brother and the guy across the road from my house lol, i was a huge Jeff Hardy fan i always chose him or Christian. The reason it was so fun was season anything could happen and that shit was 4 player i mean you could be talking to DX one night then get beaten up by them the next week. but it had its flaws(of course every game has one) the slow loading in Royal Rumble matches, the season mode you couldn't actually skip the matches you had to watch the bars drains but those are only minor.

I do think this games roster was THE best, c'mon they had A.P.A, The Rock, Austin, Taker, New Age Outlaws, DX, The Radicalz, Gangrel, Viscera, Hardy Boyz, E&C(E and FUCKING C), The Awesome TOO COOL, Even the Posse made it on there, who doesn't like Fat Ass Pete Gas. The Gameplay was good so i think it deserves a 9/10

I also got wwe12 and like SVR 2007, 2008 and 2009 better than 2010, 2011 and 12'.

I liked the controls in some of the older ones better and I liked story mode better than the new 2010 - wwe 12. I also liked most of the Smackdown Vs. Raw's for ps2 over the xbox 360.

I did not like Wrestlemania21 for regular xbox. And I do not like wwe all star or wwe legends for 360. My favorite is any of the 3 Smackdown vs Raw 2007 - 2009.

The Best games are HCTP and SvR 2006 to me. HCTP was fun not realistic but FUN! Awesome roster and season mode was beast.
SvR 06 was fun and had a great roster. Rapper Cena, Masked Kane, Angle, Jericho, Hogan, Rock, Austin and more. Plus GM mode was cool also.

Worst game to me has to be Wrestlemania 21. That game should have never been made.

I don't even think this is close. It has to be Here Comes the Pain. The roster is fantastic and the storyline was awesome. It was seemingly never ending. Getting back to the roster in had Stone Cold, Cena, Batista, I think it had Piper, The Rock, I also believe Ted Dibiase. The game had Hawk and Animal, shit it even had Goldberg.

The game introduced a more traditional grappling style and it also introduced the body damage meter. All in all the game was just great and in my book the best WWE game ever made...

WWF No Mercy. Hands-down, no questions.

Here Comes the Pain comes in a close second, as it was the first Smackdown game to play anywhere near as well, but for me, No Mercy is the yard-stick by which all grapplers are measured.

wwe-smackdown-here-comes-the-pain-cover_0.jpg

To me its Smackdown here comes the pain. Mainly because this game did everything an wrestling fan would ever want. you can climb baracades throw people off the stage stack tons of table and the main thing go backstage or outside of the arena without even changing the match which was great. even though wwe games are getting better wwe 12 isnt touching Here comes the pain as far as game play goes. If only thq let you go into the crowd and throw people off the stage in wwe 13 i'd be happy and most likely so will others

I guess I;m going to be one of the many people to say Here Comes the Pain. It had the best game play, story mode, roster, and creat a character. I beat that game with just about every guy in that game and I created so many different wrestlers who wern't in the game. I haven't played that game in a few years my last wrestling game I got was in 06 all the smackdown vs raw dissapointed me I would always go back to HCTP. another game I loved was for sega genesis I think it was Wrestlemania Challenge I'm not sure though but Doink the Clown would elecute you when he shooke your hand I would always be Bam Bam Bigelow he was covered in flames and would turn his opponet into flames. Does any rember the name to this game?

I didn't play Here Comes the Pain that much but my experiences playing were very enjoyable.

The best WWE game in my opinion was either Shut your Mouth or the original Smackdown Vs Raw. The game-play in both were very simple yet enjoyable and the story mode was the same each time but could be replayed countless times. Shut Your Mouth had an amazing free roam system in the career mode and the backstage brawls were a lot of fun. The rosters in both were also packed.

Without any doubt, Here Comes the Pain.

I spent countless hours on that game. It contained a fantastic exciting storyline, and the content and game-play was nothing short of sublime.

Graphics were very good for it's time also.

I don't have WWE 12 yet,The game I enjoyed most was Smackdown vs Raw 2006 followed closely by Smackdown vs Raw 2011. Now most people are gonna say why SVR 2011? That game sucks. The game is awesome for one reason..... Physics system. Using weapons were once fun again in SVR 2011 as in 08-10,They were too generic. SVR 2006 is just epic, and I still play it till this very day. I also like the oversells in the game when you hit someone with a chair. Graphics are very good for PS2 also in SVR 2006. The worst WWE game? Tie between SVR 2008 and Wrestlemaina 21. The only good thing about SVR 2008 is GM Mode, the player mode in 24/7 sucks. Also movements felt a bit stiff. As for WM 21, absolute rubbish.

I'll have to agree with the majority: Here Comes the Pain gives me my best memories in terms of wrestling video games. Most of the other ones were fun and I had a good time with them, but none of them are as memorable.

Smackdown 2 on the Playstation for me. Played that game until the disc could take no more.

Used to love making my own PPVs (I invented the concept of Lockdown at age 12, only for TNA to nick it four years later) as the matches in the season mode after a while got a bit odd. Once, the main event at Wrestlemania was Taka Michinoku vs. Stephanie McMahon for the WWF Championship in a Hell in a Cell match.

For me it was Wrestlemania 2000 for the N64. An incredible roster with a never ending season mode that had cut scenes in it. That was fucking awesome for the time. I don't think I've ever put as many hours into a game as I did that one. The controls were easy and just felt right, and the create-a-wrestler was off the charts for the time too. Hands down it has to be Wrestlemania 2000 on the N64 for me.

I would say the recent WWE 12, each year I play and try to make my own storylines that flow well never work, the AI system has always sucked and I have to put it as hard as it can go in each category for it to be a challenge. This year I am quite content and my storylines are flowing well along with balanced win/loss records.

I have a question to how people play this years edition, the universe mode is only good for so much, I like to be thinking of what matches and stories go together before the next PPV, just playing and not knowing until I get to the next PPV isnt good enough for me, I need to have some build up to think about. I use some of the storylines and follow some of the rankings but other then that I create my own ways and try to get alot of superstars some ring time each week.

I really would like to know how others play this, do you follow the Universe mode, which can get unrealistic and boring, or do you try to innovate your own methods of stories and play?
Anything would be appreciated.

I really like the two Day of Reckoning games for Gamecube. I thought they were made pretty well, had decent graphics and roster, and I thought the gameplay was fairly easy yet still took skill. I also liked that you could break up other people fighting. It's soooo unrealistic how on some wrestling games you can't interfere with someone else's grapple. It's so stupid. But I really D.o.R. overall a lot. I even liked it the story mode in those games, I thought it was pretty creative and replayable.

Honorable mention goes to the earlier SvR games, not so much for the gameplay, but because I LOVEDDDDD the GM Mode, it was so much fun, and often time-consuming (but in the best way possible). I could play that for hours. It's such a shame they took it out in the newer ones, I have no idea why. That's why I don't even bother purchasing the new SvR games (now WWE 12).

Another honorable mention goes to Crush Hour. Very simplistic, fun, replayable game that's really underrated. Hardly no one talks about it, nor was it warmly received, but I thought it was awesome. I really got into that game, I beat it so many times. It also gave us a glimpse into the WWE Network about 10 years early (if you remember, the concept of the game was that the WWE superstars were participating in a car-fight show on WWE's "new network"). Pretty cool game idea, and really fun to play.

However, I never played the earlier games, such as No Mercy for N64 (although I heard it was awesome for its time), so I don't have a full background on WWE games, just the ones that I've played.

I really enjoyed games before Smackdown vs Raw like Shut Your Mouth, Just Bring It and Here Comes the Pain but SMvR is just too good to pass up. The first ever one was good but then when they brought in general manager mode in 2006 it was gold! You could play for titles in normal matches which was also awesome! However my favourite would have to be WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2007. I don't know why because it was quite an average game, I guess I just had a lot of fun with it. I can't even explained why I like it but it is my favourite.

Here Comes the Pain has had more playtime in the PS2 than any other game, wrestling or non-wrestling, ever. It'd maddeningly addictive, and the controls are predictably simple.

I think Here Comes The Pain. not only did it have a really good roster and it had a lot of good match types like 3 stages of hell, iron man, bra & panties match, and you could brawl in Times Square. and it had kickass old-school Undertaker :D

I'm going to separate my choice into 3 individual choices, one for WWE, one for WWF, and one for WCW.

My choice for WCW is Revenge on N64. I remember playing the hell out of that game when I was younger, and I was always either Sting or Scott Hall.

My choice for WWF is War Zone on N64. I also played the hell out of that, but like most people, never really got a grasp on the controls too well, so I could never hit the finishers. The one time I hit a Stone Cold Stunner on somebody I nearly crapped my pants, fun times.

Lastly, my choice for WWE would be the original SVR. I remember you could make your own Pay-Per-Views on it, and I would just create (in my mind) the best pay-per-views you could have seen. So much fun, so much nostalgia.

Most people will say No Mercy.

I have to go with Day of Reckoning. It just had a certain feel to it, and I played it way too much.
