Best Running Gags in Wrestling

Shocky

Kissin Babies and Huggin Fat Girlz
You know, the thing that cracks you up and works every damn time they do it.

Kane beating up Pete Rose is hilarious, and the No Mercy Commercial was awesome.

For me, the best running gag is Shawn Michaels running from the Undertaker. It started at Summerslam 1997, the did it all through out their feud in 97. Then Michaels and Taker did this gem again at Judgment Day 2000 after HBK awarded the Iron Man match to Triple H.

So here we are, 8 years later, and the gag happens again last night. Michaels eliminates Taker and HBK is eliminated next. Taker takes his rage out on Zitsky and Michaels goes bolting for the back, with Taker following. I just find this hilarious and it never gets old.

C.A., great thread.

How about Eric Young being scared of his own pyro?

Shawn Michaels pushing new merchandise in the middle of promos?

Does "DAMN!" count?

I'm liking these, most went on too long in my opinion (Young's pyro and DAMN!) they wear them to the point of exhaustion, all funny though.

A few I remember,
-Kurt Angle kept accidently insulting Taker in 2001 (I think), he through milk over his shoulder on to Taker, Knocked over his bike, tried to make it up to him by buying him a moped. Funny stuff.
-DX ducking spit as Sgt. Slaughter talked to them. The ended up with face masks with wiper blades attached.
-Chris Benoit tring to find things he can do quicker than the time he took to beat Orlando Jordan.

Theres been quite a few good ones.

Edge and Christians 5 Second Pose where brilliant even when they added Kurt Angle...speaking of Kurt

Kurt and Steve Austins attempts to be McMahons favourite was amazing..."Jimmy crack corn and I don't care, cause I got olympic gold!"

One of my personal favorites was when Rey first came to WWE and was feuding with Angle and Angle kept accidentally making gay/child molestor refernces. My personal favorite was "rey, I'm a man, you're a boy and I like playing with boys" classic

My favorites have to be the spanish announce table, which has to be the longest running in wwe. A close second is Vince being stunned. It happens at least once a year. Worst: Puppies.

How about the not-so-subtle references that have been made to Triple H and Stephanie McMahon's marriage? That's always fun. Like when Triple H was at the hospital when Steph was having the baby and HBK said "I think he knows the father." And when they showed what the baby might look like they showed Triple H's face. Then of course when Steph kissed Triple H in front of Vince at the 15th anniversary show and then Triple H said "See ya at home...I mean, your brother's a gnome." Good stuff.

I also used to like Steve Austin's "what" thing, as well as his "Do you know what my watch is telling me?"

The Rock embarrassing whoever was interviewing him was really good, I still remember when he made Kevin Kelly leave his finger up his nose for the whole interview and how he would always call him an ugly hermaphrodite and exclaim "Shut your mouth, hermy!"...priceless.

The Rock calling The Hurricane the Hamburglar.... lmao

Also the you suck chants during Angle's entrance... even funny is that he would aknowledge it

-Anything from Goldust and Booker T they were so funny.
One that sticks out in my mind was when Booker T was dressed up as a lumberjack, also when they reviewed The Scorpion King.
-The Rock when he was a heel was also great.
-Back in 2001 when Austin was heel and Tajiri just came in with Regal they would do these promos that were hilarious when Austin came to Tajiri for advice and Tajiri would just talk japanese the whole time.

I always enjoyed John Cena rapping on opponents,

Chris Jericho picking on Stephanie McMahon,

Kane chokeslamming Pete Rose,

Ruckus and Human Tornado dancing during CZW events,

Stone Cold coming out and stunning people for no reason never gets old,

Jack Evans' with his "Aaah, aaah, aaah" at the end of promos

And who could hate Hulk Hogans famous "You know somethin', Mean Gene?"

IMO, the funniest thing is Mick Foley ripping on Al Snow's ability to take a chair shot.

"....oh wait...Al Snow doesn't sell chairs!"- Mick Foley

I also loved DX v.s. The Nation of Domination
"IF ANYONE CAN SMELL WHAT THE ROCK IS COOKIN....IT'S ME!!...LOOK HOW BIG MY DAMN NOSE IS......WHAT AM I??....AN AARDVARK....WOOOOOO!!!!"- Jason Sensation

I personally find it kinda funny when Vince McMahon occasionally acts like he's black. Like right after he won the ECW title, or even a few years ago, I believe he actually refered to John Cena as a N***er. I didn't find that funny, but I laught histarically when Booker T walked in and did his "Tell me he didn't just say that!"

1. Even though its not technically classified as a gag, I love how predictable JR can be at times. Sloberknocker, "things are about to pick up", "tougher than a 2 dollar steak", "hell fire and brimstone", "quicker than a hiccup", "oh my god! oh my god! oh my god! oh my god!", etc. Gotta love it.

2. Santino. He's a gag in himself. I hated the guy as a face, but as a heel, he's hilarious.

3. That commercial for the "Raw fan nation" with Leyla Milani, when she says the Divas can "sometimes do it better" than the guys. Always makes me laugh, lol.

4. John Cena being booed and looking like he's about to cry because that's not what he was expecting. We got a nice showing of that tonight on Raw haha. I almost felt bad for him....almost.

I would have to agree with that. As a Cena fan, I sit there and wonder how the mcmahons could push Cena because of the heat he gets from "traditional fans." Going to live events with Cena Memorabilia on is a safety problem. I think no matter what you think of him he does handle the crowd very well and is also very smart with his remarks toward the heat. (See "that's music to my ears." on raw)

Best gag imo is the looks of Taker's opponents when doing his entrance. Mark Henry is the perfect example. He was talking about how he isn't afraid of Taker and he gets to the ring pounds on his chest and motions with his hand for taker to come out. As soon as he sees taker it looks like he dropped a deuce in his pants.
