Best Friendships in Wrestling

A Post Is Worth A Thousand Words
Over the years, we've seen many wrestlers become great friends. There's always a locker room sort of acquaintance thing built in, I'm sure, but there are those few friendships that we see actually become more like surrogate brotherhoods.

Shawn Michaels and HHH.....part of the Kliq...formed DX...have remained best friends over the years and continue to have a long-running duet gimmick as well as the occasional feud.

Kevin Nash and Scott Hall....part of the Kliq...formed The Outsiders...have remained great friends over the years and continue to be associated with each other despite their problems. Hall is the troubled kid and Nash still cares about him enough to try to help him out rather than ditch him.

Monty Sopp and B.G. James...part of the new DX...formed The New Age Outlaws....have remained great friends over the years and so forth.

Who do you think would classify as some of the best friendships in wrestling?

Go forth and discuss.

I like this thread. I think everyone you named is a good option, but I have a few more.

Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio: There guys were best friends. They hung out outside of wrestling, and it was like they were family. I dare anyone to challenge that these two aren't the best friends in wrestling ever.

Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit: You can just tell how much these two cared for each other. I guarantee you one reason Benoit did what he did is because he lost Eddie. Benoit was devastated when this happened. When Benoit won the title at Wrestlemania 20 and Eddie came out and they both hugged and cried, you could just see the love shared there. They were best friends.

There are a few more I could mention involving Eddie but I think that these two are the biggest.

A duo that may not match up to the previous ones listed, but still could be considered, is Jim Ross & Jerry Lawler. Supposedly they've driven together on the road, roomed together at hotels, etc. You can tell that there's a pretty strong friendship between the two.

I'm surprised that Bischoff and Hogan seem to be good friends. I would think politics would've screwed that friendship up. But, then again, it seems like Vinny and Austin are good pals - though Vince might just be grateful for all the money Stone Cold was responsible for haha.

Haha thats true. Another duo I think about is Roddy Piper and Ric Flair. These two are great friends although it was not portrayed in the business, but Roddy was Ric's best man in his wedding. If thats not great friends then I don't know what is.

Another that comes to mind is Ric Flair and Arn Anderson. These two are like brothers. I always wanted Arn to induct Ric into the HOF and was utterly pissed off when it was announced Triple H would do it. So yes these two are best friends, which is great.

The best friendships, I think, are the ones where the two wrestlers are great at hating each other. Now, I am not sure if Sting and Ric Flair are friends, but the level of respect they have for each other must border on that. They've been through hell and high water.

Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty. Too bad Marty made such poor decisions, Shawn worked so hard to bring his old friend out of the shit and in with a new contract, and Marty went right back to it. Absolute shame.

Jim Ross and Steve Austin. Tremendous friendship there, I always enjoyed seeing them interact.

Chris Jericho and Christian. They were neighbors in Tampa Bay for a time, and after a Monday Night Raw some 5 years back, Fozzy played in NYC and Christian was the first wrestler to arrive to watch his friend play.

Shawn Michaels would jump in front of a bus to save Triple-H. Thats the kind of manlove he has for Jean Paul Levisque. Shawn Michaels and triple-H have been there for each other even when others have hated on them (for obvious reasons). Hell, they even lie for each other. What awesome friend is that? Amazing. But the fact remains that these two are the greatest friends that I know of. At least they are conistent and both maintain their love for the same thing (wrestling business) and both want their lives to go at sim ilar levels.

Believe it or not I read that The Great Khali and the Big Show are good friends. I read that they spend their time together after shows to perfect each others moves, and go out and have fun together. It's not very hard to imagine because their both so monstrous lol. I also read on the same website that Khali and Vicera were great friends before he got released.

Hahaha. Its like back in high school when you'd see that table in the cafeteria filled with a group of rejects or weird kids. Nelson comes up to Dalip..."Hey, you the new guy?" / "Yup." / "I'm so lonely." / "Me too." *que embrace with both guys crying*

I can see the montage of Big Show and Khali trying on jackets at the Big & Tall store, blocking people's view of the screen in a movie theatre...hahaha.

I hadn't heard of those guys being friends, but I could see it happening. I guess Khali didn't have as many backstage enemies as it seemed like he would have. Remember when nobody wanted to work with him?

Haha yea I remember that, but he has gotten better, and he has really grown on me. I never heard of them being friends either, but this topic interested me so I researched it and found that.

I own the Hardys dvd, and they talk about them being great friends with Gregory Helms. Apparently they grew up together, and wrestled in a self-made ring that the Hardys made in their backyard together. I hear their still great friends, and they hang outside of wrestling very regularly. I cans ee it just because they look like they would be great friends xD.

Edge and Christian a best friends they went around Canada and wrestled against each other and as a tag team even before going to WWE. Edge is trying to tell vince to put Christian on smackdown if was to leave TNA. Edge wants to do another Edge and Christian team angle.

I was wondering when someone would mention Edge and Christian. The two have been best friends since they were kids. They trained together, traveled together, roomed together. They were so close, they were able to convince people that they really WERE brothers.

And that brings us to the Hardys. Yeah, they're brothers, but that doesn't always mean something. How many brothers do you know who get along as well as Matt and Jeff. The bond, the closeness that those two have together goes beyond sharing DNA. And apparently Gregory Helms and Shannon Moore are also extremely close with MAtt and Jeff, and are almost considered family as much as MAtt and Jeff.

I've heard a rumor that Triple H and Stephanie McMahon are pretty close..

I think that the greatest friendship in wrestling had to have been Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit. The bond those two guys had went far deeper than just that of friends.. Than that of best friends. They were brothers. When they met in the ring at WM 20 and hugged each other, you could see the pure emotion.. Oh my. That moment still gives me shivers. Those two men loved each other. <-- Ha.

Honorable mentions could be:

Shawn and Hunter
Edge and Christian
Things like that. :)
