Best PPV in WWE history

People on this site, by and large, are stupid. Anyways.

WM 17

WM 19

WM 24

WM 30

SummerSlam 89, 91, 2002, 2003

Canadian Stampede (in your house, July 1997), Final Four (In your House Febuary? 1997)

King of the Ring 1993, 2001

Unforgiven 2006.

Best ever overall are

WMs 17 and 19

Canadian Stampede

Unforgiven 2006

I bloody love Canadian stampede, not many matches but perfect in every way. Ignoring the emotion of the main event the Taker/Vader match is brilliant. The Sasuke/Taka match was the first time I really saw two Japanese wrestlers go at it and Mankind/HHH was good fun too.

Storylines, a reason why I care about the matches. This had it.

Unforgiven 2006 almost completely turned me off wrestling when I was just starting watch again. I hated the two big matches any everything else was average.

My only problem with Unforgiven 06 was the use of the stipulation of banishing Cena to Smackdown had he lost.

Another one of those stipulations that told you in no uncertain terms who was winning. Sure, I knew that Cena was a good bet to win a big match against his heated rival but why rub the certainty in my face?

On top of that, I just didn't care about DX.

It was Unforgiven 06 that brought me back to wrestling, that and TNA's promos on DX.

Just to name a few....

King of the ring 98- Foley/Taker is the obvious highlight here. I don't recall ever being shocked watching a match live as I was here. Rock and Shamrock had a fantastic finals match worth checking out.

Summerslam 2002 was one of the best top to bottom quality wrestling shows I've ever seen. I've been watching since before the Attitude Era.

Survivor Series 2002- This one didn't have any bad matches either from what I recall. Even the Women's Match (Trish vs. Victoria street fight) brought down the house.

Wrestlemania 17 and 19 are two of the best manias.

As for Royal Rumbles....2000 was a great one. Killer undercard (foley/rock and the tag team table match) with a solid rumble match.

Doesn't change the fact that both matches were fuckin' bananas.

Put that tgoether with a hot crowd, a great IC title opening match, Trish Stratus' retirement match (against Lita) and a totally random but still bust-ass match between Carlito and Randy Orton, and its easily one of the best top to bottom shows the WWE has put out in the modern era.

??

This should be brilliant.

I don't know what to tell you. For me, the idea of Edge and Cena being the main event, (I started watching wrestling again in 2009 and hired this from Blockbuster some time around then) was an indication of things to come. Two men who I feel are largely representative of a lull in wrestling interest and a stark quality decline from when I had watched previously when Austin, Taker, Angle, Rock blah blah blah were on top.

Now, I've just gone back and watched that match previous to typing this and I will admit, it was good. But that was really the peak, I feel, of both guys involved and I don't think I can give the match any more than that.

And the D-X and McMahon match I felt just didn't need to happen. It was silly and self-serving and juvenile and tawdry and it was painful to watch. DX was a shadow of it's former self anyway at that point, and not just because there was two of them. Watching two 40 year old guys act like teenagers and play pranks with a 60 year old guy, and then try to act serious again was too much for me to stomach and I'm a wrestling fan.

I hated the dynamic and idea from the get-go and didn't buy into the concept so it ruined the match from the off. I also don't really see why technically it had to be in Hell in a Cell, like when Undertaker met Boss Man, I don't think the booking was worthy of the match type. The Morrison/Hardy and Divas match were both good, but not really awe inspiring.

Essentially, when I first watched it, it made me lose hope for the future. A viewpoint that, in hindsight, was justified.

WrestleMania 17 is an obvious choice, ECW Barley Legal 1997, Starcade 1997, NWO Souled Out (first event can't recall the year), In Your House: Badd Blood, SummerSlam 2002, Unforgiven 2001, Vengeance 2002, No Way Out 2000, InVasion 2001. These are just a few I really like.

SHiiiiiitt if we can include WCW shows (as the thread title would lead you to not think) then pretty much everything from spring 96 through Starrcade 98 in WCW has some hot shit matches on it.

His opening post says WWE, ECW or ECW. I think he meant to post WCW in there.
I think you're good with your WCW suggestions.

Last year's Summerslam is really good but I'm going to pick King of the Ring 2001. Angle fights three times: once against Shane in an absolute madhouse of a streetfight plus two tournament matches - and you have a pretty good main event of Austin v Jericho v Benoit too.

Just some shows that I think are good that haven't been mentioned. If they have been mentioned, sorry. I must have missed them.

SummerSlam 1992.

WrestleMania 8

Royal Rumble 1992

UK Rampage

WrestleMania 17 and 19
Fully Loaded
Heatwave 98
Lockdown 2006
Summerslam 2000 and 2002
Royal Rumble 2005 and 2009
Money in the bank 2011
Spring stampede 99
Canadian Stampede
King of the ring 2000
Extreme rules 2012
One night stand 1
No Mercy 2001
Invasion

( One night stand two is my all time fave. The atmosphere was electric)
