Ruthless-RKO

F*ck Friends, Rather die wiv ma AK!
WWE held a total of 11 No Mercy ppv's with 2 of them taking place in 1999, 1 being in the UK. No Mercy has provided some great wrestling matches.

Undertaker main evented this ppv 3 years in a row, for a title and also a special match.
Kurt Angle won his first wwe champion at this ppv.
The last ppv which took place in 2008 will be remembered for the ladder match HBK and Y2J put on for the world title.

What I want to know is, out of the lot, what is your favourite match to have taken place at No Mercy??

My choice would have to be The Undertaker vs Brick Lesnar - Hell in a Cell match in 2002, this was a brutal and sadistic match, heyman got involved and got busted wide open, Brock winning was quite a dissapointment for me however, it was a good match...

Honourable Mention

2003 - Brock vs Taker - biker chain match

2004 - JBL vs Taker - Last Ride match

2008 - Shawn Michaels vs Chris Jericho - Ladder match for World title...

No Mercy has provided some great matches over the years. There are several that come to mind. The best would have to be Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit vs. Edge & Rey Mysterio from 2002. This was an awesome match. This may be my favorite tag match of all time. It was flawless. The pace was fantastic and it just kept getting better. If you haven't seen this match find the dvd asap. It's well worth it.

There are many honorable mentions.

Edge & Christian vs. The Hardy Boys, 1999: The first tag ladder match was a turning point in their careers.

Triple H vs. Chris Benoit, 2000: This seems to be forgotten, but it was a great match.

The Rock vs. Chris Jericho, 2001: I love this match. Usually Rock is involved in a sloppy brawl. This was a great technical match.

Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar, 2002: Just a brutal HIAC.

Chris Benoit vs. William Regal, 2006: A surprise return from Benoit and a hard hitting match between two vets.

Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho, 2008: A great way to end a great feud.

Sorry to list so many, but they all deserve mention.

E&C vs. The Hardys in 1999. I was 9 at the time, and was so into the Hardys anything with them was golden, but looking back at it now, this is THE match that propelled four careers.
Honorable mention to Shawn Micheals vs. Chris Jericho for the WHC in 08. My two favorites of all time, putting on a hell of a match.

I would've loved to have seen NM continue. Anyways, here's some of my favourites:

Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship-Hell In A Cell Match

Lesnar was put over like crazy in this match since HIAC was a match 'Taker pioneered yet Lesnar came out the winner. Sick match which even saw Paul Heyman get bloodied.

Undertaker vs. The Orton's-Handicap Casket Match-Pretty good match, liked the build-up especially seeing the fake Orton's doubled up in the casket and post-match with Orton burning the casket was awesome as well only to see 'Taker return stepping out of a burning casket.

Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho-World Heavyweight Championship-Ladder Match

Epic match between two outstanding wrestlers. These two have never had a bad match against one another, WMXIX, Unforgiven, Raw (I didn't see some of their other PPV matches in '08 but bet they were great as well) Awesome match with HBK coming close but Jericho prevailed.

So yeah I would've wanted to see NM continue but I enjoyed HIAC, think they should stick with only two this year though like Elimination Chamber but its not to bad only having 3 Cell matches especially with the system they went with, start-middle-end.

In my opinion the best No Mercy match ever has to be the first ever tag team ladder match between the Hardys and Edge & Christian from 1999. This match was so innovative and really took ladder matches to the next level. The match is pretty solid from beginning to end (The finish I thought was great). And who knows, if this match never happened we probably wouldn't have TLC matches or even Money in the Bank.

The best No Mercy match to me would have to be Brock Lesnar vs The Undertaker Hell In A Cell. This was imo the best Cell match ever. It was so brutal and so well done, keeping it inside the Cell. Most of the matches up to then always went outside the cage, but they kept it inside and made it look great. Taker was bleading profusely pretty much the entire match. The finish came as a shock to me at the time but it got Lesnar over well.

Honourable mentions:

Kurt Angle/Chris Benoit vs Edge/Rey Mysterio 2002

Eddie Guerrero vs Batista 2005
I personally enjoyed this match. A good match between power vs technical ability

i think that the best no mercy match ever has to be the rock vs kurt(NM 2000) angle i really enjoyed that match from beginning to end i liked that not only was this match in the ring but also on the stage and when i saw big kishi all i thought was the rock wins again but rakishi hits rock with the kick and angle with the angle slam and on a side note i think this was the best NM PPV out of all of them i dont think any match on the card was boring hell even naked medion vs william regal was entertaing

You sir are the Brain.

Edge/Christian vs the Hardys Ladder match 1999, THAT was the match that started the whole Ladder/TLC match feuds with them and the Dudleys.

Rock/Jericho 2001, was a classic, the ending was sloppy with Stephanie getting involved but still the match was one of the best of the decade.

and William Regal/Chris Benoit 2006, I'd been saying since 2000 I'd love to see them two on PPV, and in 2001 the good fans of the UK got shafted when WWE changed the entire Insurrextion card, but 5 and half years later is better then never, great surprise match, shame they never had more, these two really gelled well in the ring, could of been a top feud.

I always thought Edge/Christian 2001 was a underated ladder match, not the HBK/Razor style but very TLC like, using the most of the ladder.

HHH/Benoit, Yeah a quality match but forgotton due to the storylines at that time changing so rapidly, shame Benoit jobbed he could of done with winning.

and Kurt Angle/Chris Benoit vs Edge and Rey 2002 SMACKDOWN tag titles, CLASSIC, given plenty of time and these 4 gelled well together, and they were given plenty of tv time before and after the PPV to promote the tag belts, and singles feuds, it was a great and forgotten time in tag team wrestling because most of the tag teams at that point on SMACKDOWN were singles guys paired up, but a truly great time.

No Mercy was always my favorite Pay Per View, when playing SvR 2007, I always liked to fight at No Mercy, because that years set up (The ring ramp, titintron) reminded me of Mountain Dew Code red.

Now I found No Mercy 2007 one of the bests, as WWE was screwed after the injury of John Cena, and had to work fast to make something work. Randy Orton is named by Vince McMahon, the new WWE cha-Triple H comes out. Trips convinces Vinnie Mac that he should schedule a match for it, right now, between him and Randy. Of course, some how Trips angered McMahon to do it.

So we saw a pretty great match..but it only last...11 minutes and 6 seconds, with Triple H coming out with the victory. Now Triple H had a schedule match against Umaga that night, and he still had to fight, defending the championship. Triple H easily overcome the Samoan bulldozer in an easy 6 minutes.

McMahon then announced, Orton would receive a title rematch in a Last Man Standing match in the final match of the event, which Orton won after an RKO onto the announcer's table, thus ending Triple H's sixth reign.

That was my second wwe pay per view ever, and it sure in hell was a great one. Triple H became my favorite WWE wrestle that night.

Also note worthy matches, would be Shawn Michaels vs. Jericho at No Mercy 2008. I wasn't really paying attention the first 5 minutes are so, and when I looked up, I thought Jericho was wearing lipstick. Apparently, Shawn hit him in the face with a ladder, it was pretty cool to see blood, as we don't see it much often anymore. This match lasted a damn good 22 minutes, and it sure ending with everybody on the tip of their toes, as the belt was unhooked being grasped by both men up there on the ladder, just fantastic.

Earlier that very night in No Mercy 2008, we saw Jeff Hardy slowly making his way to the top of his own Ladder, where he won contender ship (If I'm not mistaken, by beating The Great Khail) To face Triple H for the WWE championship. This match was so intense, I thought myself Hardy was going to win it all here. Jeff hadn't won a World title yet, and for that very reason I was rooting for him. Unfortunately, Triple H kept kicking out, Swanton Bomb, and Swanton Bomb. Eventually Trips reversed a Twist of Fate into a brand of dog food, and Hardy was down. This was a very intense match, due to all the last second kick outs, and it last a decent 17 minutes. Very good fighting between two of the top men on Smackdown at the time, and both had history with each other.

No Mercy is in my favorite PPV's list, like said, being the second WWE Pay Per View I ever saw, it needs to come back, as it's way too young to die.

No Mercy has always been one of my favorite PPV's along with Judgment Day that was a big 4. Ironically, those of have been the two PPV's I've been to in Chicago.

With that said, my favorite match would have to be the Last Man Standing Match at No Mercy 2007. The crowd was great for the whole show and that match topped what I expected and was great on DVD too. I also liked No Mercy 1999 with the Ladder Match and just the feel of the whole build up to it.

And after reading this thread I decided to put in No Mercy 2002 to watch the Edge and Kurt Angle tag match because I forgot all about that so that's what I'm doing right now haha.

Well, The Brain already chose three of my personal favourites, but I'll go over them anyway.

Firstly, my absolute favourite is the tag team match at the 2002 event between Edge and Rey vs Angle and Benoit. I think this is quite possibly the best tag match i've ever seen. The match was well paced and it kept me interested throughout the whole match, even during some of the slower moments when Benoit and Angle were in control. The match featured some great wrestling from all four guys and it was very unpredictable. I was on the edge of my seat when I was watching it and just couldn't choose the winner as momentum swung back and forth. Fantastic match.

Honourable mention goes to the ladder match between HBK and Jericho in 2008. This was a good match in its own right but it was even more captivating because it ended a truly fantastic feud. Also, the Benoit vs Regal match in 2006. It was unexpected and a great physical wrestling match.
