I voted for The Big Show. Let me tell you why.
Show's matches were the closest to "hardcore." More than a few times, he bled and beat the everliving hell out of people in return. His imposing stature made the ECW Title seem pretty legit. Noting against Van Dam, but his reign flopped after the win. Show's reign was tougher than most.
Show's reign also allowed WWE to incorporate ECW more in the tri-branded story lines. The DX vs Big Show and The McMahons was well executed. It helped the ECW brand. Show also had a good working relationship with Paul Heyman and had mic skills to stand alone, unlike Bobby Lashley.
Punk's reign hasn't been long enough to consider. Neither was Morrison's, and Morrison's only feud was Punk. Lashley was ok, but he wasn't a draw on Tuesday nights. McMahon was a waste. A joke. His reign was an insult to the legacy of ECW and was used to advance his ego and his meaningless feud with Bobby Lashley.
Someday I hope I can say Punk or my up and coming favorite, John Morrison, but for now it's Big Show no question!

If we are talking new ECW, it has to be CM Punk. Besides RVD, the rest are just names from the main WWE brand to get people to watch. CM Punk is what "original" ECW fans should want. He is the closest thing to the old ECW. I would say RVD, being he is my fav wrestler ever, but he screwed himself.

In terms of the best ECW champion, it's close between Rob Van Dam and Big Show, but I would go with Rob Van Dam.
Yes, he did fuck it up. He got caught with pot and got arrested. Still though, has any champion in the past few years gotten the ovation the way RVD did when he won the belt from Cena? RVD was practically the cornerstone of ECW, and I think that if he hadn't got arrested, he would have been ECW champion probably until Wrestlemania and afterwards. He practically began the company with that win, and was most deserving of it. Big Show was the most dominant champion and had great matches, but I think RVD would have had the same matches if he had stayed champ (imagine another RVD vs. Undertaker, or RVD vs. Batista). Rvd was the best champ I think as of yet, then I think Cm punk, followed by big show, then morrison then Lashley then Vince.

RVD- Beat the unstoppable Cena, embodies ECW. At that point, it was believable that RVD was one of the best in the WWE at that time, which a main champ should be.
Big Show- Seemed like a WWE wrestler with an ECW belt. I know its a new ECW, but it just never meshed. At least he was a believable monster.
Lashley- Too much, too fast, which made his reign seem flawed. The tease of Benoit vs. Lashley feud for the belt couldve done wonders for the brand, the belt and lashley. Too bad.
McMahon- I just HATE to see people who are not full-time, ro top-tier wrestlers with a major strap. Does nothing for the belt. He drew great heat, and got a little attention, but where have things gone after that?
Morrison- If ECW is going youthful, he's a great champ, but I don't think for a second he's on Cena/Batista level as far as KAYFABE goes. That kills the credibility of the belt. Heres the best this roster has to offer, but he'd get killed by mid-carder, Kane.

I think that Johnny was put in a good place when he was champion. I didn't like how it was just match after match between CM Punk, and Morrison, though. My opinion is that they need to send a couple good wrestlers from smackdown that are not getting a lot of use...as raw...such as Val Venis, Snitsky, Funaki, maybe even Jamie Noble or Daivari haha even the Highlanders!?....and where's Stevie Richards? He's a hell of a wrestler. My big question is... WHY hasn't Tommy Dreamer been given a proper title run?
I think he should be given a chance...he's been there from the start, and you can tell that he has a huge passion still for the sport...even with all the crazy changes to ECW. I dunno...I'm just disappointed.

of the New ECW the best champ has been big show.. He wrestled alot of hardcore matches that were fun to watch.. he had an ok feud with sabu and he actually started doing more moves that what he had been doing in his entire career.. (cobra clutch backbreaker into a toss) and he actually fought members of the ecw roster... RVD's reign was too short , and bobby lashley seemed like a third tier champion to the likes of john cena and batista and his main feud was with Mc mahon to whom he lost to.. and he never really was ecw material

The Best Champion so far is C.M. Punk, too bad WWE doesn't let him have a personality! He is so DEAD when he is in the ring or in the back talking. He was way better in ROH and MLW. His match with Raven in MLW was killer! and the way he played to the crowd was awsome! What Happened to ECW, I hate what WWE is doing to them! They NEED to give the belt to Dreamer! or make C.M. Punk a bigger role! Right now the ECW title isn't even worth the US or IC Titles!! LAME...... my thoughts! BAMBAM!

I went with Mcmahon on this one.

cm punk sucks maybe of they get the title off of him ecw would get better ratings cause john brougt in better ratings maybe thats saying something.

i would have said rob van dam if this was the original ecw but its not its the sham ecw, big show was at first good with the title but then got overrated he got clumsy, lashley was weak as ecw champ, he couldnt act as a champ but he did have the look of a champ, morrison is a talented wrestler so i would pick him, cm punk i didnt imagine his reign would be as bad as it is, its not because of him its because of his opponents except for morrison and plus he looks to skinny with the belt but its a good thing he's not taking steroids, its obvious the belt will go back to morrison but because of the ecw/smackdown thing we probaly might see a smackdown superstar as the champ after morrison i wonder who it will be maybe mvp, finlay, kane, mysterio or matt hardy, i wouldve been intersting to see how chris benoit wouldve been as champ

The best ECW World Champ in my opinion was Taz. But I think CM Punk has done the most for the title out of all the guys shown here. RVD had the win against Cena, but he was so much better back in the old ECW and well he's past his prime as much as I hate to say it. Big Show should have never been champ. Bobby Lashley was not extreme, just had a lot of muscles. McMahon of course is a joke. Morrison has so much more potential to be much more of a heel and should be doing more in the ring as well as on the mic. Punk is more established as a wrestler in the industry. He can still work a match, he's got a good gimmick going for him, and he's very likeable as a superstar. Solid finisher, solid tactics, and I think he brings back honor to that belt.

While I dont like CM Punk because he is hot, I think that he and Morrison are the more gifted champions that ECW has had. I would put Big Show at a close third.
Big Show. After RVD fucked up, show tried damn hard to get accepted in a time when we all still thought ECW might be good. He had some decent matches defending against Sabu, and he actually did a bunch of hardcore matches, to me that showed that atleast he was trying to hold up the credibility of the title. Heyman also was a great heel manager for him during his reign.
When he dropped the title to Lashley, that's when ECW died for me (Cuz Lashley fucking sucks).

I've never been much of an ECW person 'til recently, but I liked it when Vince McMahon was the ECW champ. He just lent a sort of vibrancy to the title that Big Show or CM Punk, the new ECW champion, couldn't produce.
I have to be honest, at first I was put off by the idea of putting the ECW Chip on Big Show's shoulder. However, from what I saw when he was the champ impressed me. He wasn't afraid to get bloody and down in the dirt with the rest of the hardcorelites and so in saying all that the Big Show has got my vote as the best ECW champ in WWECW yet.
RVD would have definately been the best ECW champ so far since its return in 2006. However he fukd up pretty badly so therefore im going to go with Lashley or CM Punk. When Lashley became ECW champ he had a good run and jumped to Raw and turned into a main eventer, this is all because he won ECW title IMO. Cm Punk is the most over guy in ECW right now so it makes sense to put the strap on him. Vince Mcmahon was alrite as champ but his promos went for agezz almost every week and many pplz got sick n tired of him blabbering on about how great he is and how crap Bobby is. Vince also isn't the best wrestler but in my eyes he turned Lashley into a true main eventer so I have to give the guy some credit.

RVD: I was always so-so on RVD, I mean in ECW he really stood out as the most gifted wrestler and I couldnt wait for him to come to WWE, I loved the Invasion angle Raw when him and Dreamer came through the crowd, but somewhere along the way he became sloppy, poor on the mic and monotinous, true mostly creative's fault: "COOL" and "WHATEVER" is not a vocabulary!!! He bored me.
Big Show: I still like ol show, he made the best of what he had, he looked dangerous, he could wrestle well, he just found it hard to sell, unsurprisingly. Steadied the ship well.

Straitedge for success I agree with the title reign by Mr. McMahon. Even though he had his enforcers (Umaga and Shane), Mr. McMahon created so much controversy and so much hatred because HE held the belt. I believe that was a defining moment when Vince held the belt because he triumphed over the ECW of old, Paul Heyman, and what the ECW stood for in its entirety. And I also think that it was another notch and another reminder in Vince's belt that told him that the WWE once again stood on top of the wrestling industry, and would maintain that prosperity and success.
Now, he probably has his sights set on another wrestling business... TNA.

i would have to say that john morrison was the best just infront of rvd. i only think that john morrison is better because he had so many exciting matches and he did get some heat for his matches as well. he also cut a good promo and was excellent on the mic. i think he will regain the ecw title in late 2008 and have it for a long time!

I've given my vote to...
John Morrison: He was given the spot out of a shear accident. A badly timed twist of fate allowed Johnny Nitro to become John Morrison, & because of that, he took the ball & didn't look back.
The only thing that hurt John Morrison, was the steroid scandal. If he hadn't been a name on a list, he would've very likely never lost the Championship to C.M. Punk. Of course that will always be a topic of discussion, on whether he would've or not since they'd been feuding non-stop.
To me, Morrison gave me solid reason to start loving E.C.W. on Tuesday nights. Because Morrison brought a higher level of charisma to the table. I can't really explain why I believe he's better than the likes of R.V.D., Big Show, or Bobby Lashley.. but maybe its because noone looks at him as a Main Event/World Champion.. & he showed the World for a solid 3 monthes that he could skillfully carry the brand.. & he likely (in my mind) would've continued carrying it, had it not been for another ironic twist of fate.

id give it to ROB VAN DAM just because the ECW title means extreme and he is the only guy who went extreme when he got it . but other than that id give it to Lashley as a good face champion but the title seems to be more in the ranks of the US title
