Best Big Man Wrestlers?

Brilliance In Supremacy

Getting Noticed By Management
I'd have to consider a big man 6'6"+ and/or 300 lbs.+ (legit). Which big men in wrestling's history do you think are the best big men? What qualifies for a good big man is someone who can move well, put on an excellent match, displays a good workrate, and is easy for smaller wrestlers to work with. They don't even have to display the stereotypical big man style.

If you'd like to, list some of the worse big men.

Here's what I think:

Best:
Bam Bam Bigelow - For all the big men who are more "voluptuous" than tall, he's amazing. The moonsault wasn't pretty, but this is a guy who was almost 200 lbs. heavier than the standard cruiserweight
Vader - Not quite Bigelow...but he's the second greatest fat guy of all time
Undertaker - Honestly, he's just not that good anymore. The reason people still cheer him is because of his legacy. But man, this guy was fantastic once upon a time.
Kane - When it comes to working with wrestlers of all sizes, he's fantastic. Even though he's close to 40, he's still a great performer. Smaller guys love working with him
Lance Hoyt - He's often been criticized because he has a cruiserweight style in his wrestling...nonetheless, he's probably one of the more athletic big men
Rikishi - He moved so well for such a big guy
Sid - He was a legit scary dude

Worst:
Batista - He's a very boring wrestler. It's stiffs like him that give the WWE a bad name.
Andre the Giant (older) - I respect his legacy..but seriously...how freaking slow was he?! When he was young, he was pretty good
Great Khali - He's so terrible...but I wouldn't be surprised if the WWE gives him the belt one day

I might add more later

i disagree with u on BATISTA he aint no lightweight hes what 6'6 6'7 300-315? and built like a mac truck hes a power house he can man handle any 1 hes known 4 his power moves kinda like GOLDBERG was he cant do bac flips of the top ropes or 619's n stuff like that

Mike Awesome. This guy did it all. Suicide dives, planchas, top rope splashes and one of the most impressive, the power bomb from the top rope. His matches with Masato Tanaka are the things dreams are made of.

That's who I was forgetting. Mike Awesome was - ironically - an awesome wrestler. His match against Masato Tanaka on One Night Stand 1 was amazing. That man's suicide dives were crazy

why is kevin nash not in this discussion
he was a great big guy
hes up there with kane, taker bigelow etc.

im glad no one mentioned big show, umaga, lesnar, khali or batista as decent big guy wrestlers they all suck and have stupid gimmicks(although big show and batista can carry a brand)

Well at one time Big Show was a decent big man. At one point he was able to do moonsaults.

Man Can you guys get it are you pickles? Batista the best ever you cant understand that ....
Taker is like better then batista
kane is such athletic to go on the top rope
Viscera Bad but can do good moves like that sidewalk slam

As for Kevin Nash...well...whether or not he put on a good match depended on the dude that was in front of him. Put a great worker like Bret Hart in front of them and the match would be average for Bret Hart standards. Put a stiff in front of him, the match would suck. Nash would adapt well, he just didn't know how to take charge of a match.

Plus, dude gets injured patting his own back...

I gotta go with Abyss. Best big man on TNA and an awesome hardcore wrestler. He's starting to show that hes more than just hardcore as well. I dont see anyone on that list that can STILL out wrestle him.

I'm going with Vader.... That guy was do damn ruthless in the ring.. He moved very weel and when he was in his prime was most likely the best wrestler in the world... Growing up as a kid I didn't care for him too much becasue he was a heel and was always kicking Stings ass and at one time they ran an angle sayin Vader broke Stings leg...... But as I have gotte older and seen Vaders work I realize how much his work was great. It is a ashame he never got a title run in WWE..

Taker is by far the best. He may not be what he used to be, but in his prime he was AMAZING. And people don't just cheer him becuase of his legacy, he can still carry a match. And Abyss? are you kidding me??!?! TNA blows as does every wrestler they have. every big man in WWE would tear him apart, all he is, is a rip-off of Kane, except not as cool.

I just want to know what a wrestlers gimmick is has to do with how good they are in the ring? because Brock Lesnar,Umaga, and Big Show are pretty good in the ring and even Batista is okay so I don't get the point you were tring to make Kevin Nash and Kane are on par with Batista to me they were/are okay in the ring but not the best I also think Abyss is overrated he's a okay big man but not as good as everyone is claiming lately. here's my list for best big men in no order.

1) Brock Lesnar: One of my favorite wrestlers ever, Lesnar mixed Power, Speed, technical skill, and high flying better then any other wrestler I can remember, some one had the nerve to say Lesnar didn't deserve to be on this list and Nash does Brock is agruebly the best big man wrestler ever the only reason I think Brilliance In Supremacy didn't add Brock to his list is because Brock is 6'3 and 295lbs which doesn't make him a true big man but I had to have him on my list.

2)Test: People are always down on test but he is incredible in the ring i've always liked him for some reason and think he is one of the better big men, like a more talented (in the ring) Kevin Nash.

3) Mike Awesome: I mean he came out of nowhere and dominated ECW I was always impressed by his skills in the ring just like Brock he mixed alot os styles very well, wish he would have become a star in WWE.

4) Lance Hoyt: People can hate all they want but the best big man in TNA is Lance Hoyt he remind's me of Test but he's a little more athletic he's a very good big man and I hope he gets his chance to shine.

5) The Undertaker: One of the best big men ever he has put on so many classic matches and really is the blueprint that all big man wrestlers should aim to be.

I also want to at least name: Bam Bam Bigelow: One of the best big men ever but I wanted my list to be up-to-date, Big Show: People always get down on the Big Show but he is the best Giant ever in a wrestling ring and he's way more talented then people give him credit for, Umaga/Jamal/Ekmo Fatu: dumb gimmick and sh*tty finisher aside he is one of the most talented big men in the business, Rosey/Kimo Fatu: I always liked him, don't know why the WWE released him, Rikishi: One of the best big men and highly entertaining, Vader: Old school big man that changed what was though of the more out of shape big men work in the ring, Big Vis: You try have that much grith and moving the way he does, and Iceberg: he gets on the list for being over 500lbs and being able to preform his swanton finisher,Kane, Abyss and there probably some good ones i'm forgetting but...

Worst i'd go with: Hulk Hogan: I don't know if he has a talented bone in his body, Andre The Giant: I don't think he could move let alone wrestle, Giant Gonzalas: I want even insult anyone by saying what he did was wrestling, The Great Khaili: I would explain but I don't think this one needs an explaination, and Abdulla the Butcher: he just f*cking sucks.

How can you rank Taker 5th? like you said, he is basically the blueprint for big guys and no other big man has had a better career than him.

My top five would be (in no perticular order):
-Taker, with his gimmick and ability to do things that no big man has ever done before he clarly desves to be on this list

-Lesner, Few newcomers come into this business and have the impact that Lesnar had, he claimed to be the next big thing and was, and wuld have continued had he not made the stupid decission to go to the NFL, also had one of the collest finishers I've ever seen a big man do the F-5

-Kane, Again like taker with his gimmick and ablity to do amazing things in and out of the ring he desevres to be on this list, he also deserves another run with the belt

-Bam Bam Bigelow, He's wrestled for every major promotion and had great feuds in all of them, though for me his feuds in ECW with Taz, and RVD stand out as the best, he does things that a guy like him shouldn't be able to do

-Abyss, with jim Mitchell by his side he has become one of the most interesting and exciting guys to watch on TNA, he also has some of the sickest finishers in wrestling today, Shock treatment especially looks downright painful, maybe Umaga should look to Abyss to see what a devestating finisher looks like, and the Blackhiole slam, just the way he drives his oppnents into the mat and sometimes thumbtacs, oh yeah and the moves have cool names that grab your attention

My personal opinion is Yokozuna. His matches were great. Not to mention he could do the sweet chin music just as good as Shawn Michaels, yet he was 550 lbs. Back in the day when he was 505 lbs he was great. His wrestlemania IX match with Bret Hart/Hulk Hogan was classic. He was just a great wrestler for a super heavyweight. Far better in the ring than Andre the Giant, at least in my opinion. However, he ate to much rice and that led to his demise.

Yes, I would've added Lesnar. In fact, if he was actually a big man wrestler...then he would be the greatest big man of all time. But he's not a big man wrestler. I do believe that 300 lbs. is the minimum for being a big man and I think a lot of people would agree with me. Lesnar was terrific, but could he be considered a big man when he doesn't even qualify for one? No. It would be like saying a guy who's slightly above the cruiserweight limit is considered a cruiserweight.

I really don't mean to sound like a prick. Sorry if if comes off as that. But Lesnar just isn't a big man wrestler...

Best:
Big Van Vader - this guy could own anybody back in the day and he had some of the hardest punches in the business bar none.
He had it all bad ass offense, could moonsault, not many could body slam a guy of his massive size and he had Harley Race as a manager...WHAT A COMBO! How many guys his size can pull off a moonsault?! Bet HHH cant fuckin moonsault! And he had the best powerbomb in the biz.

The Undertaker and Kane - Face it Kane was made as a clone of the Undertaker...the only difference is Kane don't do suicide dives like The Undertaker. The Undertaker...nuff said he is the WWE big man and will never ever be forgotten for his contribution to the sport he is hands down one of the greatest wrestlers in the business with the look and the million dollar gimmick that was perfect timing. Kane played off of it and he became to a lesser extent popular beyond belief but I think it is particularly sad that they never took advantage of it and made him the top heel champion. He could have been even bigger than he became.

Sid Viscious aka Sycho Sid - Great big man for his time and a legend in his own right I suppose. He was there my entire childhood and will always be fondly remembered by myself and my generation as one of the best big men out there. I mean he wasn't necessarily any different than the others except his was always f'n nuts man and he lived his character so it just fit like a glove and set him apart from the rest. He just had that feel about him that made me love the character and his matches while not scientific masterpieces, still captivated. He had some great feuds in all of the "Big Three" meaning WWF, WCW, and ECW when they were the largest on the map.

Kevin Nash - He had some of the worst gimmicks in the history of our sport including Oz, Vinny Vegas, the list goes on but through it all he exploded into one of the premier big men making him as big as or bigger than some of the others listed before and on this post. He was 1/3 of the original nWo and later the leader of the nWo wolfpack the 15th incarnation of the group practically but the most entertaining to say the least. Nash is by far the funniest big man in the history of the business evidenced by his TNA promos as of late and some of the classic WCW wolfpack stuff. But besides that the guy could also be one of most dangerous men in the biz and had a good powerbomb....well actually he just sorta throws the guys huh? But it looks good none the less lol. Anyways Nash is a true classic and will never be duplicated.

Big Show - Simply put the biggest of the big men. Big Show had a few world championships in time in WCW, WWE, and ECW and is the only who can claim to have won the top prize in all three...although it is a little cheapened given that the ECW title in question isn't really of ECF'nW fame but more or less WWECW the other OTHER WWE world title. Anyways he has one of best highlight reels of any of the other big men in the history of the biz from his debut in WWE by throwing Austin through one whole wall of the steel cage at St. Valentines Day massacre, or when he did the missle drop kick off the top rope on I believe Hogan in WCW, or when Brock Lesnar superplexed him and the ring disintegrated on Smackdown. That was simply one of the most impressive things I have seen ever.

Worst:
El Gigante/Giant Gonzalez- man what a waste of time. Its funny how everyone STILL remembers The Undertaker trying to get a good match out of this piece a crap. It had to be the most forgetable feud ever and yet it still remains unforgettable as one of the worst big man bouts ever! I mean the guy was nothing but size.

Giant Silva and Kurrgan -Forgot these two huh? Yeah I wonder why...

tha best big man was Bam Bam Bigelo...name another big man that waz not afraid to go to tha top rope more than once in a match...other than Vader Bam Bam was tha best

If you would have read it a little more closely I put in no order before I made my picks.

To:Brilliance in Supremacy: i tollay agree with you on the Lesnar thing I put him on my list also but I did put he not a true big man but he's close and someone had put on the list eariler Brock wasn't even a good wrestler so I had to defend him by putting him on my list, he's 6'3" 295lbs and I knew that was a little under your limit but I put anyway, also as a counterpoint to your comment about Cruiserweight's They did it all the time in WWE does it all the time with Matt Hardy was Cruserweight champ and he's slightly over the limit, Kurt Angle(when he first came into WWE he was 220lbs) and many more.

I have one problem with your standards of a big man. I dont think a big man should be measured by his weight and height, but rather general size compared to other opponents. Brock Lesnar was a monster compared to his opponents, and he physically dominated everyone, bigger, smaller, didnt matter. Guy F-5'd Big Show with ease. Its like saying people like Chris Masters and Lex Lugar (Narcissist days) didnt qualify as big guys because they had huge phisiques (yes, i know i butchered the word, but you know what I mean) rather then being fatter or taller. They too are big guys, the only difference is that they sucked. Brock Lesnar will go down as one of the best all around big guys ever.

Yes, it's difficult to put standards on what qualifies as a "big man" because there is no "big man" belt. But let's think about it. Lesnar - in reality - is about 6'2" and 285 lbs. (he might've dropped lately due to his MMA training). Believe it or not...he's shorter than: Edge, Randy Orton, Triple H, and about the same height as CM Punk. If qualifying someone as something is debateable, then that person just might qualify as something else (if you know what I mean). Lesnar was huge...I agree with that? Is he a true big man? I don't know...perhaps pro wrestling should standardize some "big man" measurements.

If standardization were to occur...I'd think that the limit would be 300 lbs.

Are you guys out of your mind LOL Forget Brock Lesner
Try SID VICIOUS, KEVIN NASH AND GREAT KHALI ( bigger than Big Slow)
Hell wanna know who the biggest man in the world ever was El GIGANTE
GIANT GONZALES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the best big man wrestler of all time is the undertaker. He's always been great since the early 90's and he still puts on one hell of a show. On nerely every ppv, except for some this year(wm23,judgement day etc..) he is always in the match that is or is close to the best match of the night. He's athletic, and he is a great all around wrestler

They might be big guy's but there all shit wrestler's. This is a thread about the best big wrestler's and non of them should be on the list. The only one worth anything is Nash, and that's only because of charisma.

And why do you alway's make all you're post's in bold?
