As much as I like Mike Awesome, I have to give the match to Edge. He's had a bigger impact in the wrestling world. He'd have to try and use his speed and ring smarts to avoid Awesome's power and agility. Edge wins.

Edge made a career out of beating people bigger than him in the most devious ways. And he always did it to people who were high up the card. Mike Awesome didn't make it that far up the WWE card so by default Edge would beat him.

I remember 2 things about Mike Awesome: the triple threat in which he won the ECW World Title over Taz and Tanaka at Anarchy Rulz (mainly because this was the first ECW PPV I had ever seen); and him being a part of the Hardcore Title clusterfuck during the WWF invasion angles. That's pretty much it.

Edge made many more lasting memories from his time with The Brood to the TLC tag matches to his 30-something championships he held. Edge is a Hall of Famer, Awesome is just some guy who used to be a pro wrestler.

Edgecution for the win, spear not even necessary in this one.

Edge. I don't remember Mike Awesome for anything really and Edge beat Cena and ended his first world title reign. He won countless world titles as well as a 2 time MITB winner. Made the TLC what it is today and would still be going at it today if it wasn't for an injury.

Edge is the most decorated Champion in WWE history (aside from Raven, but fuck the Hardcore Title and its 24/7 Bull), while Mike Awesome at his peak was ECW Heavyweight Champion. He could've easily gone on to be one of WCW's top stars had the contract issues not occurred (although even then WCW may have fucked him over). Edge means much more to the business, regardless, so he gets my vote.

I see Mike Awesome as one of the biggest wastes of talent in recent memory. I was a big fan of his; he was gifted with terrific size, strength and agility and put on some very entertaining matches. He had a strong run as the champion of ECW, with some brutally violent bouts. I thought if things went differently, he could have been a huge name in the business. It saddens me that he never got to that level-for various reasons-but as big a fan as I am, I can't put him over Edge. Edge was a multiple-time World champion who was a top heel in the number one wrestling company in the world. He headlined PPV's, had epic feuds and matches, was a member of a highly decorated tag team, and is a legit HOFer.

Edge wins handily.

Mike Awesome had some really good matches with Masato Tanaka but that's about it for my knowledge about him. Aside from his shit gimmicks in WCW.

Edge on the other hand is a multiple time world champion, held MITB twice, KOTR winner, Royal Rumble winner, main-evented Wrestlemania 24, Hall of Famer, and has found success as both a tag and singles wrestler.

Vote Edge.

Not for nothing, but Awesome had himself a decent career when you facotr in his ECW run.

Edge is on another level though. One of the few guys who made the transition from great tag wrestler to great singles wrestler. 31 different titles in his career if my memory serves. While that equates to a lot of short reigns, he is still a decorated champion and one of WWE's bigger draws of his time as a main eventer.

Edge takes it.

Edge is definitely on bigger leagues than Mike Awesome. He had put up with some great opponents in grand stages of all which makes him go way over Mike Awesome. Mike can be of a wasted talent but Edge certainly is better than him in many aspects. So I would wager on Edge.

Oh man, this match is a wet dream come true. Mike Awesome's in-ring abilities are long forgotten, and it's a crying shame. He could go with just about anyone, and I think he matches up well with Edge. But, there's no denying the weight of Edge's career against Awesome's. Anything Awesome could do, with the exception of sheer power, Edge could do better.

Edge wins, but it's a much harder fought battle than the vote will let on.

Mike Awesome deserved his last name, he was truly awesome, his wars against Masato Tanaka are legendary and well worth the time to watch a few of them. He got wasted in the WWE and in WCW.

Edge however has cemented his legacy as one of the greats with the quality of a large number of his matches as well as the number of big spots that you can remember when you mention his name, like the spearing of Jeff Hardy off of the ladder. I am giving it to Edge, though I may vote for Awesome to make it a closer score to indicate how close this match should be.

You said everything I was going to say. I am a BIG Mike Awesome fan, and it's such a shame he never reached the heights in the business he should have, for a variety of reasons. Edge has accomplished faaaaar more in his career than "The Gladiator" did, and while I don't think he should have been given so many World Title reigns, the fact is Edge was a deserving headliner in WWE, main evented WrestleMania and did it all in the wrestling business.

He's beaten them all, so sadly I have to put The Edgester through in this one. I don't like voting against Awesome but I'll have to. I hope Mike gets a better draw next year.

Edge wins with a roll up after Awesome makes a mistake in a really close, competitive match.

Not much to say that hasn't already been said. Awesome is one of the wrestlers I've been most impressed by the first time I saw them, but Edge accomplished far more, and in truth there's never really been anyone else like him. Most heels become faces or have a period of success before being vanquished. He stayed a heel until basically the very end and kept being credible and coming back. A true great who's Cinderella run in the fourth tournament has counted against him in the past. Edge wins here.

I can't agree more here. He's probably never going to win one of these, unless he gets a really good draw, but he deserves more credit than we give him, based solely on Will building word fort after word fort in his defense.

I believe that Mike Awesome was underutilized talent which worsens the situation for him in this match considering that Edge possesses a bunch of great accolades for his work.

I still think that it would be a close match and not a squash what the poll is suggesting. Its a 51-49 in favour of Mike Awesome considering my choice of in-ring work over accomplishments.

So Mike Awesome.

Edge wins here.

I, too, only have a small amount of memory used up by Mike Awesome and he never really set the heather alight in any respect. He's good enough to make it to the tournament seemingly. But this is where his journey comes to an end.

Quite frankly, Edge is a superstar in every sense of the word. I don't remember ever seeing an Edge match that I didn't like. He was a true wrestler in every sense of the word and you could tell that he was passionate about his profession. If he didn't have to retire very early on, then he would have went on to carve even more of a legacy in the wrestling business. In fact, such is his massive list of accolades, I would even put him amongst some of the best to ever lace his boots.

Edge marches on easily.

Edge is going to dominate this matchup in the voting, and there is no doubt he had the better career, but Mike Awesome is going to get my vote. Awesome is just someone I was particularly fond of and I found his matches to be highly entertaining. His work in ECW and Japan is more entertaining than anything I ever saw from Edge personally.

I wish I could say more for Mike Awesome in this one. There might be argument to build that Edge truly did his best as a tag team specialist and that Mike Awesome truly tore the house down many times over in ECW especially in the legendary series of matches against Masato Tanaka. But, you just run into a massive buzzsaw when you try to claim Edge is a tag team specialist, because man, he has been everywhere and done everything as a singles guy. He's had a fantastic WrestleMania main event as a serious contender to break the streak, he's had a brilliant hardcore brawl with Mick Foley, and he was the mainstay of the world title scene alongside Cena, Orton, and Triple H for a huge chunk of WWE history.

I wish there was some way to put Mike Awesome deeper into this tournament, because he's great, and anyone who hasn't watched Awesome and Tanaka wrestle hasn't seen one of wrestling all time greatest series. But Edge is just too good to be the loser here.

Things have been well-covered, but it's nice to see some respect for Mike Awesome in what is sure to be a losing effort.

It also makes you think back to WCW turning Mike Awesome into "The Fat Chick Thrilla" and "That 70's Guy" and really scratch your head as to why they were shocked they went out of business. What a waste. The best thing that ever came out of that was I had a buddy in high school who legit hooked up with a 300-pounder, and his name was Mike, so I gave him the moniker. He didn't appreciate it. What was I talking about anyway? Is anyone actually still reading this drivel? God, I suck.

Common sense takes Edge to the next round.

Madness will get you a fat chick sandwich tonight.

Choose wisely.
