Austin Aries Option C: Who Will Be X Division Champ At Next Years Destination X?

Getting Noticed By Management
Ok so we all know that Austin Aries is relinquishing his X Division Championship in order to take a shot at Bobby Roode and the World title. He also had Hulk Hogan agree to let whoever holds the X Division title at the time of upcoming Destination X PPVS get a chance to face the reigning world champion. I personally like this arrangement. What I fear, however is guys like AJ, Joe, Kaz, Daniels, RVD, Hardy, etc. may try to go for the X Title, a couple months prior to Destination X in order to get themselves a title shot. Personally I think this shot be given to young up and comers trying to cut their teeth in TNA/IW. My personal pick to be X division champ next year is Joey Ryan. He is already being built up with a solid feud through GutCheck and I hope eventually he gets a deal, runs through the X division and gets a shot at the world title at next years Destination X.

Who do you guys think will be the X Division champ at next years Destination X PPV?

Do you think that "Option C" will work in the future?

I'm going with Joey Ryan too. If not him then someone else who will be new. I think that because Joey Ryan is to me, main event talent.

- Good talent
- Good gimmick (Cocky Heel, worked for Bobby Roode and Austin Aires)
- Good on the mic.

I see what you're saying, but I don't think that's necessarily the worst thing in the World. It wouldn't be realistic for former X Division to NOT go after the title if they know there's a World Title match at stake. And I think it would make the X Division Title race interesting for the 3-4 months leading into DX if you've got top guys (as long as they fit the X Division) going after it. The X Division was at it's best when it was almost equal with the World title.

I'm not mystic meg, I can't predict the future, I especially can't predict the future a year from now, in fact I can't predict what will happen next week nevermind in 365+ days time what will happen or who will be where. For whatever we know Rey Mysterio could fail another wellness test and end up in TNA, he could be the guy who holds the X-Division Championship next year and could cash in to get his shot.

Jesse Sorensen, who has became more known for breaking his neck than actually having talent may return, gain the sympathy vote, win the X-Division Championship and cash it in next year. Hell, Kid Kash could earn some deserved push and do it. Sabu may make some spectacular return, win the X-Division Championship and cash it in for his chance to become TNA World Heavyweight Champion - who knows, maybe Garrett Bischoff will do the impossible.

I can understand threads that question what will happen next week, or at the next pay-per-view or how an angle will play out, but literally an entire year and some people are providing answers? Jesus, didn't know there were so many physic's lurking on the forum.

I actually think aries could have it again. Think about it, he isn't gonna beat roode this year, but he could win next year once the roode push isn't so hardcore. I hope he gets the strap before next year but it could really happen that he wins next year instead.

If TNA is smart enough to figure this out.

I will push Sonjay Dutt the next year through the X-Division. Not only is he popular in the X-Division in TNA since years but the biggest reason that his push and main event glory will allow TNA to capture the huge market of India. Then the Indians can have a wrestling hero of their own especially the children,

I'm leaning towards Jesse Sorensen. The guy's gimmick & personality are as vanilla as they come, but I look for TNA to very much play up the sympathy card for the guy when he gets back. They'll build a story around him being courageous and determined to fight his way back through a detrimental, near life ending injury in order to come back and live out his dream. I imagine they'll show some video footage of Sorensen soon after being hospitalized, some footage of him going through physical therapy, working out & getting back into shape, working out in the ring, maybe show some taped sit down promos of "the real guy" in which he talks about his experience and how he's dreamed of getting to TNA and becoming X Division Champion.

I can see TNA building the X Division around Sorensen when he returns. He'll automatically be a sympathetic babyface when he returns, personality or not. However, that will only carry the guy so far and people will lose interest if Sorensen hasn't developed some legit charisma or personality. Austin Aries has set the bar very high for all future X Division Champions going forward with this new Option C angle. Every X Division guy is going to be measured up against Aries, especially whomever the new champion is by this time next year. If it is Sorensen, I don't see him having remotely the same impact unless he becomes more than just one of the guys Aries spent months beating over and over again.

Of the current guys within the X Division who'll realistically still be around, Joey Ryan is the one who stands out the most. He's solid inside the ring and the guy has a great personality, at least that seems to be the case thus far. I'll need to see more of Ryan before I ultimately get behind him, I just enjoy what I've see thus far. Even though I've only seen him wrestle one match, his personality alone makes him much more watchable than any other X Division guy right now, including Sorensen.

I see Ryan winning the title sometime before the end of this year and ultimately feuding with Sorensen. Sorensen is the humble, nice, big hearted sympathetic babyface while Ryan is the selfish, obnoxious, "entitled" guy that rubs people the wrong way. It'll give the whole sympathy angle another boost to have Sorensen take the title from someone like Ryan.

I'm hoping they push sonjay as a mega face in the division. He is very enjoyable to watch and with the right gimmick he could be champion.

This is one idea TNA executed to perfection. Alot of fans who watch TNA are fans of the X-Division. As far as who will be champ, I dunno. Impact Wrestling has been bringing in a few familiar faces to sell us on a legit X-Division. I wouldn't mind seeing Jay Lethal return and getting that rightful opportunity into the TNA title picture. It would be nice to see guys like Lethal or Petey Williams come back and cement a better X-Division into place to build it for future generations to come[if TNA lasts that long]. Hell, I'd even love to see Christopher Daniels win the title in time to be elevated into the main event next year. He's deserved that opportunity for far too long and TNA have overlooked his potential.

Ah ... Storm got in before me.

The second Aries made this announcement I thought next year has to be Christopher Daniels.

He is a longtime TNA star. He is a solid performer. He is someone the fans can easily get behind or easily hate. And he would be the solid choice to chase this down next year and take his shot at winning the big one in a main event of a PPV he helped create.

There are a ton of solid options, but to me ... Daniels is the one way in the lead in the clubhouse.

The thing about Austin Aries is, he won the contract at last year's Destination X, went on a huge run with the belt and here we are... for the X Champ to be worthy of the title shot and be like Aries, than maybe TNA has to sign a very good, no scratch that an amazing superstar in the mould of an Aries.

Who fits this bill? Apart from Shelley and Sabin who TNA wasted. I'm thinking Davey Richards (ROH), Prince Devitt (NJPW) or Kenny Omega (JAPW/NJPW). These three guys have the potential to be the next Austin Aries. Give them a sizeable $ contract and allow them to do what they do best each and every week.
