Arctic Monkeys

Best British band ever IMO. Even better than the Beatles, and I'm sure they'll get just as well known in the next few years. I don't think I've heard a bad song by these guys, they're just freakin' awesome every song is just as listenable as the others. If you get the chance get a hold of their demo album "Beneath the Boardwalk" I know it's just a demo but I think it's better thn their other two albums. One question, how big are they in the US right now?

They aren't huge. They don't really get played on MTV. But then again, nobody really gets played on MTV these days. I have seen them a few times on FUSE, though. IMO, FUSE is much better. From what I have heard of the, they are pretty good. Not the Beatle's by any means, but an overall good band.

I think these guys are one of the most overrated bands ever. Them, The Enemy Razorlight and the Kooks. All their songs sound very similar, even though they're pretty good overall, the repetition makes them dull. It's the classic Coldplay situation. If you want a good British band, look at Muse. Christ, the Streets are even pretty good, if not my cup of tea.

Please Luther, spare me!

Agreed. The Arctic Monkeys are completely overrated. Could they try any harder to sound like the Smiths and New Order? Come on now, the Monkeys are crap they've got maybe two good songs.

As good as the Beatles? I mean come on man, thats just sacriligeous, the Beatles practically invented melodic rock and roll, the Monkeys aren't very well known. And not very good either.

Besides, the Beatles did it first. No band will ever in a million years be as big as the Beatles were, they set the standard.

I saw the Artic Monkeys at Reading festival couple of years ago and they were awful, no interaction with the crowd at all. I don't like any of their songs or the fact that every indie band sounds exactly the same now. Calling them the best British band when there are bands like The Rolling Stones and the Who......seriously dude lol

The Arctic Monkeys are one of the better bands I hear on the radio now.
comparing them to the Stones is a bit much, but they are much better than the Kooks. Listen to songs like cigarette smoker, from the ritz to the rubble, and space invaders. Then come back and shoot them down. Won't happen.

The Arctic Monkeys are probably my favourite band from the last 3 years. They at not better than The Rolling Stones or The Beatles beacuse they haven't been around as long. Sure if they continue to sell songs in 20 years then yeah but it's too early for them to be saying at the moment. I think that their 1st album is better than there 2nd one though and my favourite song is "When The Sun Goes Down" - I know it off by heart.

On a side note has anyone heard of The Piegon Detectives - my pick for best band nest year.

Yes, and I love them. Their music is so refreshingly new. It just has something incredibly recent about it. They aren't boring, and have a very distinctive style. They're doing a concert in Leeds next year, Millenium square apprently. And I'm going =D

I hope you are kidding right? Don't get me wrong- I love the Pigeons, awesome live, with great songs. But please? Refreshingly new? There's nothing innovative about them.

Arctic Monkeys are also very good atm, but no way near best British band ever, not even of the generation. Songs like 'A Certain romance' and 'Leave before...' are a must.

the libertines where better than the arctic monkeys, arctic monkeys would never have been as popular if the libertines hadent split up, libertines opened the door for the indie bands and arctic monkeys capitalised on it. anyone intrested in english bands (from america) should listen to the libertines, better than the arctic monkeys but had to split up, inovators in indie music

^ True that, for sure. The Libertines were a fuckin' amazing band, and set the stage for all of these modern day British indie rock bands. They all sound exactly like the Libertines did, except just not as good. Sure, Pete Doherty is a god damn bafoon, but if you like the Arctic Monkeys, you owe it to yourself to listen to the Libertines first and try and tell me the Monkey's aren't just blatantly ripping off their sound.
