I know they never lived up to the hype of being the "next-gen" Alice In Chains, but I still liked them. Their first two albums were listenable, but when Neon Ballroom came out, I figured they were just one step away from the big time.
Anthem For The Year 2000 and Ana's Song were great songs, and the album was complimented by tracks like Emotion Sickness. I had the album on repeat, and knew every word and every break. Then, Diorama hit the shelves and I bought it right away. And, it was shit. Surprising to me, expected by most.
Then, they went on an extended hiatus to pursue some solo projects, and also for Daniel Johns to take care of his battle with anorexia. When they returned, I was somewhat psyched, as I heard they had returned to their earlier sound. They had a song or two that did, but for the most part, it was never the same to me.
