On another forum I've bene informed that the HBK/Jericho match is no longer the best match between the two. News to me. I always thought it was, even though the others were good as well. But apparently the Ladder match between the two is the best. I don't know what makes it better, I'm yet to ask.

Is that a pile of shit or is the Ladder match actually better than the WrestleMania match?

WrestleMania 19, by far. It was great to see two very like wrestling styles square off. It told a brilliant story; Chris Jericho idolizing HBK and wanting to prove he has surpassed him. And, at the end it gave a good little twist of y2j turning on his hero.

Def the wrestlemania match. Its was there first match together and they put on proberly the best match of wrestlemania of all time. They had a good few matches before the ladder match so they both knew each other alot better in the ring by the time the ladder macth happened.

Wrestlemania 19, easily. Fast-paced, back and forth action, had no idea who would win. The reversals, the counters, and it was so evenly matched up, Jericho looked excellent, as this may be his best match to date even though he lost, HBK wins with a roleup.
The ladder match to me, is highly overrated, it wasn't anywhere near their best match, their unsanctioned street fight at unforgiven was better.

Is this part of the argument that Jericho was a terrible champion? Because this was a "memorable" match right? He lost a tooth in it! That alone raises it a few notches in my book. The only thing that marrs it is the Lance Cade run in. I hate that guy.

The Wrestlemania one was good, but something is missing from it. I dont know what. They were at different places in 2003. Jericho is better now, if a bit chubbier.

I think the ladder match was better.

The Wrestlemania match between the two is, in my opinion, in the top 5 of greatest WWE matches of all time. I loved that match the first time I saw it and it still more than holds up today.

The Ladder match was nothing special. It's not even like it contained shit we hadn't already seen before. There was nothing original about it, and everyone already knew who was going to win beforehand. Seriously, how is it possible for anyone to think that match is anywhere near being as good as the 'Mania match? It's nowhere close. Hell, the rematch between HBK and Jericho on Raw a month or so after the 'Mania match I remember being loads better than the Ladder Match. The ladder match wasn't bad by any means, but at the same time... like I said, it was nothing special, either.

I agree the Wrestlemania 19 match was incredible. Just like the Wrestlemania 25 match between Shawn and Taker. Some people may say they like the first ever HIAC better between the two but Wrestlemania was magic. Just because a match has a ladder, chairs, tables, or a cage doesn't make it great.

Yeah I think that's a pile of shit, the WrestleMania match is better in my opinion, I wouldnt say that it's the most fantastic match ever or a masterpeice or whatever but it is way better than the ladder match, this coming from a ladder match fan.

The ladder match was good, but it wasnt even as good as Jericho vs HBK from Judgement Day? That same year, and that match couldnt touch the WM19 match.

Obviously there match at WM 19!
The story telling was great, as far as quality goes best match in history! And the ending was rather contriversial and thats a good thing. The Jericho HBK ladder match was good too but the whole Lance Cade thing ruined it for me HBK was closing in on his 5th world title man! So close!

Mania by far.

The ladder match to me was just ok. It was I guess supposed to be the blowoff to their feud, but damn it wasn't that great. It won MOTY or something, and for the life of me that's either a huge overstatement or a very sad look at wrestling last year. HBK simply wasn't going to win so the ending was spoiled, and while it was an ok match, Shawn has had far better matches. The ladder was kind of pointless to me, because while we were expecting a massive aerial spectacle, that's simply not what those two at this stage of their career are going to do. HBK's high flying consists of the elbow while Jericho mainly uses the Codebreaker now. The expectations were too high and the match was just ok. Mania was a classic where both guys did almost everything. When you have two masters like that, you don't need a gimmick or props. They can just go out and do it, which makes it a better match.

THANK you JMT. The HBK-Y2J Wrestlemania match is probably my favorite wrestling match, ever. I've seen thousands upon thousands of hours of wrestling from every major promotion of the second half of the twentieth century, and it still draws me back to it every time with it's greatness.

The Wrestlemania match is everything that a wrestling match should be. Great story, great wrestling, and one of the best endings to a match I've ever seen. When HBK goes for the handshake and Y2J gives him the low-blow...I mean, there is literally not other possible outcome that could have made that match better. A match for the ages, and one that needs a lot more respect than it gets. HBK-Angle gets so much love, yet the HBK-Jericho match gets almost none. Which is bullshit.

The No Mercy match...yeah it was enjoyable. Most ladder matches are, you have to be pretty bad to screw up a ladder match. But it doesn't even touch the WM19 match, not even close.

I can't imagine Jake posting on another forum. Are you the same sarcastic ruffian that you are on here? Either way, whatever forum you were on is clearly full of morons.

The Mania match is way better and it is not even close. It's something that should not even have to be asked.

The Ladder match between the two last year was okay for what it was. I wasn’t hoping and I knew they would not be doing any crazy spots. There should not have been high expectations for that match considering the fact that those 2 might not be able to do something they could do 10 years ago and 15 years ago for Shawn Michaels. Like I said the match was okay for what it was.

I think one of the main reasons that people were probably going into the ladder match with very high expectations was because of who was in the match and not because of the gimmick. People know that Shawn and Jericho can put on great matches so they immediately thought that the ladder match would be an instant classic. Everyone seemed to forget that these 2 men aren’t the same people they were a decade or two ago, so they thought they would be jumping off of ladders and doing some other spots.

With the Mania match it was so much different. There was no gimmick to the match. It was just a straight up classic one on one match. Both guys did everything they possibly could. They left it all in the ring. It was just a great match from top to bottom. They showed that you do not need a gimmick match to have a great match. This is definetly one of my favorite Mania matches and is one of my favorites of this decade.
