AoN Discussion: Vega (c) vs. Krypto - Mayhem Title (Flying Saucer Match)

I'm Literally Just Here for WZCW

For weeks Krypto had the WZCW Universe on the edge of their seats. Ever since winning the Mentor Program, he had the ability to choose one match, any match that he wants. He decided to invoke his winnings on the unchallenged WZCW Mayhem Champion, Vega, in a Flying Saucer Match! This is uncharted territory for WZCW, but one can only imagine that this match will get extremeterrestrial. Can Vega continue his trek as the new King of Mayhem, or will the lovable Krypto be able to capitalize on a match that suits him best?

There really isn't much storyline heading into this contest but what I like about this is that two separate individual stories are clashing at an intersection in a mysterious match type. On one side, you've got the newest sensation in the Mayhem division defeating everyone in his path. The other sees a character whose gimmick no-one would thought could get over but has done very well for himself, improving every week and a good enough challenge to go for gold.

Vega has been quite solid in his performances recently and I would not be surprised if he retains despite the match type but Krypto becoming the new champion isn't something to be shocked about neither. I'm rooting for Krypto but I'm leaning towards a Vega victory. Sorry E.T.

As for the match, I'm thinking this has to incorporate a Flying Saucer somewhere. Since there will be a cage set-up high above the ring for Stormrage's potential second match of the evening, I doubt it'd be a cage variant (as you can only have 1 type of cage per show)... maybe something similar to a Scaffold match where you fight above the ring as if you were in a flying saucer or some kind of Ambulance/Buried Alive match where you have to put your opponent in the saucer? There are many options but as long as weapons are involved, I'm down for this.

You'd have to lean towards Krypto with the weird stipulation, but Vega has had a nice run with what is, in my mind, the most difficult belt to have a long reign with in this company. I'll guess Krypto, but would not be surprised if Vega managed to pull out a win against the odds once more.

I dont think the gimmick adds too much here. Krypto will need everything to knock off a very confident Mayhem champ.

Vega has been on a roll since capturing the Mayhem Championship anbd we might see an enduring reign ahead, but Krypto shocked us all to capture the Mentorship crown. Much like Titus, Krypto, when he needs to step-up, can pull out an excellent RP and he's not only beaten some good names, but pushed some top caliber ones too. Never underestimate the little green man, but Vega is the favourite heading into this.

Instead of UFO, this is a UMS: Unidentified Match Stipulation?

Eh?

Ehhhh?

Yeah, that was bad.

My only guess is a ladder match/pole type match or like FalKon said, a casket match. Either way, whatever it is I'm sure it'll be interesting. I want to say Krypto should win this so the entire mentorship program feels worth it and because it'd make an interesting story, but it's gonna be reeeeaaaalll hard to beat Vega. I'm gonna go ahead and say Vega probably has this, yet either winning would be awesome, in my book.

So does creative want me to keep the rules a secret or something? I hope they are the ones that I pitched.

Regardless win or lose I want this match to be something of a staple to Krypto like a Buried Alive/Coffin match is to the Undertaker. My first championship match and I'm looking to make it count, whether I can win against all odds is unknown as Vega is very good. But I've pulled out some surprising ones lately, I'll see what happens.

You wanna be careful saying that, Undertakers record in such matches are hardly stellar.

I've become a big Krypto supporter, even going as far as to say that he's become better than me at the whole "person who thinks he's something else" gimmick, in fact in between Krypto coming along and potentially topping me at that, Barbosa turning emotionless and potentially writing a better emotionless character than me its a wonder I haven't left in despair yet.

Anyway, back on track, as big a Krypto fan as I am I wouldn't like to bet either way on this match, Vega is the nads, the dogs testicles and quite frankly its going to take a super effort to prize that title away from him. I think both of these guys have got a winning effort in them so I'll be watching with interest.

Doesn't really matter to me, I made this match type because it's really only a match that makes sense when Krypto is involved, I don't really have to have a winning record in it. When you think Buried Alive or Coffin match you think Taker, and in some cases maybe Kane, but I doubt I'll be making an evil older alien counterpart in the future.

I appreciate all the props on my run thus far guys, means a lot.

Well, duh.

This is what I'm thinking, too.

I'm actually ecstatic I'm getting to face Krypto. I seriously don't mean any disrespect to some of the guys I've beaten recently, or in the past at all... but I was about to PM someone in creative asking for a step up in competition, but when Vega & Krypto had that small teaser segment last week I got excited and decided to remain patient. Then this most recent episode of MD with us basically opening the show... I got hyped. I got a little nervous because he no-showed last week, but he got his RP up late and I'm positive it won't happen this week.

I would like to know the match rules going into this before passing judgement.

This is the 2nd PPV in a row in which I don't know the stipulation of the match I'm defending my title in. =/

So you know the rules!? Bastard.

Good luck this week, dude. I'm looking forward to this.

Huh... I was thinking the flying saucer match would be more like an ambulance match rather than a scaffold match. But I digress. Vega is one of my favorite new characters to read, and Dynamite with Krypto has improved night and day since his tenure as Joe West. Should be a good match.
