Anybody for Jericho-Steamboat 2?

Getting Noticed By Management
I was pleasently surprised on how well Steamboat fared in the Legends match vs Jericho at Wrestlemania, and so were most people, the crowd was actually into it, and so were my friends and I. I would have much preffered a Steamboat win than a Rourke punch. And given 5 more minutes, could have been the second or 3rd best match of the nite, unfortunately. I would like to see a 1 on 1 match just once. Steamboat wouldn't even have to win. But I think he is very underated, his career ended suddenly, and it would be a great way to go out. Or maybe even a tag match with his son or something. But these 2 going at it again would be good, and if Backlash is where 'Mania rematches happen, it would be cool to see it, esp since I'll be there for my first live PPV ever. Anyone else agree?

Nah, Steamboat was amazing tonight. He was surprisingly quick, well coordinated. Far better than Flair had been in his later years. So let's leave it at that, keep it short and sweet.

I was very pleasantly surprised as well. Steamboat looks to be in pretty decent shape and I'd say by the looks of things he's got a few good matches left in him. I would love to see Jericho/Steamboat II if Ricky's health will allow it. I don't think I'd do it at Backlash if I were them. I'd leave it for a few months though so that Ricky could have time to work off any of the remaining ring rust so that they could be given a good 15-20 minutes and provide a true payoff to the Jericho vs. legends feud. But yes, I'd definately be down for that. Watching Ricky go at it with Jericho without looking like he's missed a beat was one of the best surprises of this Mania. It must have been a tremendous moment for Jericho to work with someone who he never thought he'd get a chance to work at Wrestlemania.

There was glimpses of Savage vs Steamboat at mania 3 which pleased me.
imo this was the only decent action part of that whole match. Piper/Snuka were obismal but thats to be expected since they are shot.

Flair was very gay as was his Holywood buddy.

I wouldn't object to seeing Steamboat take Jericho on in a one on one match in the future

Give Steamboat his props for being a good part of a otherwise pretty dissapointing Mania overall.

Legends are meant to be memories of this business, not wrestle until they make an ass out of themselves at over 50 years..There's a reason why Stone Cold didnt wrestle or didnt bother cutting any promos this year: He wants to be remembered for his contributions during his time, and not afterward...its not that Steve is old or can't wrestle, he just wants to keep his legacy intact, and not a distant memory, unlike Ric Flair, where the majority of people will know him as an old man who takes terrible bumps!

Steamboat was good, but Jericho was slower..there's no need to have the past duke with the present..it only works a couple times (ex: hogan's return) but it shouldn't happen always..

Steamboat was absolutely phenomenal !! I was at a bar with a couple hundred people and it's safe to say that aside from HBK / 'Taker, the place was on fire for the four or five minutes we saw the Dragon and Y2J go at it one-on-one.

Kudos to Ricky Steamboat for providing a rare bright spot in what was one of the worst Wrestlemania's on record.

As for a rematch - why not ??

Steamboat put on an amazing show last night, and he should not try to replicate it. Everything Jericho said about the legends turned out to be true last night. Snuka looked horrible, and Piper did nothing an angry 50 year old drunk wouldn't be able to do (punch, push, poke, and curse like a madman). Even Flair, who got a couple licks in, was embarrassed by Y2J. Steamboat was the only exception. He looked better than half of the guys who wrestled last night! He shouldn't come back to try again, or else he'd just be playing into what Y2J has been saying. He had one last night of glory, and that's that.

A rematch...maybe. It is rare for Jericho to be put in a match or story that really makes us of his vast in ring ability (trained by bret and owen) and his creativity and work ethic. I think he could do that Steamboat, but Steamboat and he wouldn't have that legendary heat rivalary that jericho needs. I would rather he move on. I would love to see Steamboat more involved in the television aspect of WWE.

I would love to see a rematch of Steamboat vs Y2J. Steamboat looks like he has a few matches left inside him, he was probably the best out there in the Legends match that was in decent shape he was most def the best at being able to move around and pull moves off. I was very into the match but I had a feeling that Y2J would win just to further the recycled legend killer gimmick.

Yeah I would like to see Steamboat go up against Jericho again. Steamboat looks like he retired too early. He carried Snuka and Piper throughout the whole match. Snuka and Piper were very rusty as I saw that Snuka botched a couple of moves and Piper just did his same routine moves like punching, poking, and his sleeper hold. Ricky Steamboat just hung his boots up too early. Steamboat put up a very impressive match. Snuka and Piper are officially done after this match. As for Steamboat, he could have retired like a year after :flair: .

No he wasnt, he was trained by keith hart for about 20 minutes.

Anyway, Although Steamboat looked good last night, i dont know if he could pull off an entire match of such quality.
Anyone can sprint but not everyone can win a marathon.

Steamboat was a great surprise and I would love to see an old school one on one match between him and Jericho.

I would also like to say that Piper was much more mobile than he has been in previous years and was suitably happy with his performance and he should be to. But his should not be repeated as it is the exception with him as opposed to "The Dragon" who I think could go any night.

As good as Ricky Steamboat looked last night, I dont think we need to see any rematch between he and Y2J. Honestly there would be no point to it at all. This whole thing started because Y2J had a problem with Mickey Rourke and "the wrestler". Once Rourke floored him with the phantom left cross, that signified the end of the whole Legend Killer angle.....At least I hope so.

Let the legends be legends!

Steamboat was fantastic but I would like it to stay that way. Still, I want be upset if it actually take ..as far as Steamboat keeps the level.
However, good god, Snuka should stay very far from the ring.

If I had a hat, I would take it off to Steamboat. He was fantastic. Put on a really good performance and pulled off some nice moves. However, while he may have been good at WrestleMania, it may have just been a one off that he was able to do that. I'm not doubting his ability, far from it. However, considering his age asking him to repeat it could be difficult. It's not beyond him, just hard. I wouldn't mind seeing this match, but believe the fued should be ended now.

RICKY F'N STEAMBOAT!!!!!!! As someone said earlier, one of the few bright spots of MANIA. SKINNING THE CAT??? Unbelieveable, why did he retire so early, why hav'nt they been using him on T.V?? PROPS to THE DRAGON!!

i agree this match was great. Snuka you suck and do need to stay the hell away from the ring. piper was not to bad. Steamboat just outshined them all including Y2J in my thoughts. as far as a match goes i will say 50/50 if he can do that again i say yes but its not likely.

I read the rundown from the Wrestling Observer on each of the matches and Dave Meltzer said that "Jericho vs Steamboat had some moments where it was sad, but but all things considered, Steamboat did some great near falls and sold well." I respect Meltzer and hes forgotten more about wrestling then Ill ever know, but it was anything but sad. Steamboat was in phenomenal shape, and looked like he could have kept going another 5-10 minutes if needed. Piper and especially Snuka couldnt. I would love to see the two of them go at it again, with the same result, because its the right one. Jericho's tirade about the legends staying out of the ring rang so true when Piper and especially Snuka was in there, but 56 year old Ricky Steamboat brought back the nostalgia of some of his older matches. He looked that good. Id pay to see those two go at it again.

Anyone can sprint but not everyone can win a marathon.

But not anyone can skin the cat either. Coulda been amazing if the fucking cameraman got it. And had Steamboat won instead of Rourke getting involved, I woulda been happy. Crowd was into it. Shoulda let him go over with help from Rourke.

I would love to see it. He was the of all the legends last night. He is a very good performer, but I would worry because I am not sure if Steamboat could help Jericho carry it. I think Jericho would carry it himself. It would be great if the WWE would sign his son because they sign everyone's HOF son (almost everyone), I am sure he is better then most.

yeah he was great. I was surprised when he went on the top rope. and his second match on raw. maybe he could have a match against Y2J at Backlash.

It will be Jericho Steamboat at Backlash. look for it to be announced afer the draft this coming week.

While Steamboat did look impressive at WM25 & the next night on RAW. I wouldn't want him to wrestle again due to the possibility of him destroying his legacy & staying way too long past his time like Flair did.
