Another unification opportunity in light of Morrison being drafted to SD!

Think

Dark Match Winner
First off, I get that it's a spoiler but who of us isn't overzealous about placement this week anyway? At least I think he did...he beat R-Truth in the SD! taping.

Anyway! It's a long shot, but given he is on SD! and Miz is on RAW, each could win the US and Intercontinental titles and to carry on with their feud, have a match unifying the two titles.

Possible?

Nah, I mean it could happen but its not likely, The WWE is not ready to go down that path, The WWE needs to midcard titles, and unifying them will just make the WWE worse then it already is

I believe this is highly unlikely, and would be a very bad move on the part of WWE. While a tag team and women's division unification make sense seeing as the divisions are so weak on talent and bodies, a unification of either level of singles titles would be absolutely the worst move. You have plenty of bodies to fill all 4 divisions (whether or not they utilize them right is another argument) and each title serves its purpose. Eliminating either of the Midcard titles would only put less focus on the midcard guys (who dont get enough love already) and even more focus on the same 5 main eventers we've been watching for the last 5 years. Too many talented young guys would get lost in the deck if the middle ground were eliminated on either show.

Its not a smart move, nor is it the right one by any means, and if WWE goes this route, well I'll just eat my own head.

You are thinking about unifying the wrong belts. Why have 2 world champs (apparently 3 with ecw..lol), when you should have one world champ (THE MAN!) and titles for each show. In all honesty to really give things a shake up...heres an example.

Get rid of the U.S title and the I.C title, lets have a smackdown champ, a raw champ, and a ecw champ. Lets have one world champ, a divas champ and tag champs that go on all shows.

People may say, what about the tradition of the belts....well lets see, they have unified and got rid of all the belts before, including all minus WWE title and the world tag titles which are unified now anyway.

Need to create new concepts, new format, new traditions.

We need to see a difference in the shows. A difference in the wrestlers.

One world champ, one tag champs, diva champ, smackdown, raw and ecw champ.

The IC title and US titles are different and has separate histories, hence why they won't be unified. Morrison beat R-Truth this week and all of a sudden, he's destined for an IC title shot. That doesn't mean anything. Eventually, one of the world titles will come back to Smackdown. It has to. I think Morrison goes for that belt, NOT the IC title.

However, it wouldn't be a bad idea to give the IC title rub to one of the more over stars in the company. Lets face it, Morrison draws good heat being the cocky tool with 12 pack abs. Having him sneak out a victory against Mysterio would be great for him. I just don't see SD brass going that route. Question is...where could he go after beating R-Truth?

Mr. Laratio is right, one win over a guy like ron killings (who as a former nwa world heavyweight champion deserves a lot of respect but since he's been back, besides being in the rumble for a good while and his enterance being over hasn't done much) doesn't really mean he's on the fast track to the IC title.

Actually if he does move to smackdown, with the intense "match of the year!" (matt Stryker) he had with evan bourne (which was really good actually) I would be surprised if he fueds with bourne for a while and then uses that push to challenge whoever is champion then.

Its not even 100% that John Morrison is on SmackDown! because the Supplemental Draft is later today. Just because he wrestled on SmackDown! doesn't mean he's on the roster because look I read the Spoilers for this week and Big Show wrestled and he's on RAW now. Triple H is on SmackDown! this week and he got drafted to RAW Monday. Randy Orton is on SmackDown! this week. Matt Hardy is on SmackDown! this week. So all of a sudden they are on the SmackDown! roster No! They are just there because they were put on the card. John Morrison was probably on the card for the rub because he is a singles competitor again.

This isn't relavent to the whole Morrison thing. But like someone said earlier, if WWE scrapped the IC and US titles, then creative would be forced to build up Midcard fueds. I dont see creative being too happy at the thought of more work but It's a good idea. With creative not being able to throw together random matches for the titles, Midcarders would get proper pushes.

For example, If the whole JBL and Mysterio crap hadn't gone on at wrestlemania, then at least the tag match could have happened. Hell, they could have even made the Hardy match a bit longer. I'm saying that both titles are pointless now and if they can't be revived, they need to go!

Possible? Yes. Pointless? Heck yes.

The WWE does NOT have too many belts. Maybe you can make a case for unifying the Divas and Women's titles but that's it. The roster is big and deep enough to warrant a World and secondary title on both shows.

Besides, while I know Santino is a 2-time IC Champ and even the likes of Orlando Jordan have won the U.S. title Miz is still not deserving of a secondary title yet. He hasn't done enough to prove he's a capable singles wrestler. Remember, he was completely floundering before teaming up with JoMo.

Miz attacked Morrison to get over as a RAW guy now, somthing I don't think will help him at all, but thats for another thread...

Regardless of who holds he IC/US gold, those two titles should not be merged. Hell, it would only make sence to me that there should be more midcard titles than ME titles, and the fact that we have three is ******ed. But as it stands, keep both titles seperate as possible. Maybe the occasional match between the two at a supershow would be Ok, but thats it.

Morrison and Melina together is fine but reuniting the tag team isn't. Morrison is a singles star in the making. Putting him in another tag team is a step backwards. Give Morrison the IC title and slowly push him to the main event.
