Angle's best match in 2010

shattered dreams

Hexagonal Hedonist
What do you think is Kurt Angle's best match this year and why? Is it the AJ Styles Superimpact showdown? Anderson? Hardy? Or another that caught your eye. It is pretty interesting that Angle had two epic PPV matches and he sure seems like he is on the verge of headlining BFG vs both those guys. Can the three together top the previous ones?

Im pretty torn between Angle/Hardy at No Surrender and Angle/Anderson at Lockdown. Both were damn good matches, but I gotta give the edge to Angle/Anderson because of the story of the match and the in-ring psychology.

Angle/Anderson was just a great angle throughout. Anderson had gotten his fair share of cheap shots on Angle and he had gotten the better of him several times. At Lockdown it was all about being locked in the steel cage and Anderson had no where to run. The match just told a fantastic story. Great action, and just came off as a really brutal encounter. Not to mention, Kurt's moonsault off the top of the cage was the craziest thing I have seen in pro wrestling in all of 2010. And it was just great to see Angle get the best of Anderson, because the angle made you really hate Anderson for the real asshole he is.

Love both matches, but Angle/Anderson takes the cake here.

Those three matches were all great... I also really liked the Angle vs Red match from Impact... Their styles were so different, I didn't think it would work, but they had a damn good match as I was expecting Kurt to just squash him... Obviously, Kurt really liked working with Red as it was reported that Kurt pitched an idea to creative about working a program with Red but was turned down... I really would've liked to see them work a program and see what storyline Kurt had in mind to see them fued...

Anyway, I would also pick the Angle vs Anderson match... As Goodlay said, they told a better story inside the ring and there was just a great build for the match which made it more anticipated...

Hardy vs Angle definatly surprised me... I really didn't expect it to be as good as it was, but all the finishers kind of down graded it in my opinion... I have just never been a fan of seeing people kick out of finishers... Once is cool, twice is okay sometime, and three is just pushing it... But in the Hardy match I believe there was atleast 4 swantons (maybe 3)... Not saying it's a huge draw back because I still liked the match... The Swanton to the outside was awesome... Just thought it would've been a better match with less finishers used...

It has to be the Kurt/Jeff match, I didn't even think this match was going to be great. But it really was a pleasant surprise, the only bad thing was it shoud of been the last match of the night because it made the Anderson/Pope match seem a little boring. The Anderson/Kurt match was great as well at Lockdown.

Pretty tough one here...

I am just pleasantly surprised that a match involving Jeff Hardy, is being considered as one of Angle's best matches of the year. That is a good sign for Hardy and Hardy fans.

But anyway, overall though, I would give the edge to Angle/Anderson. Just for the story that was involved and had been playing out.

Hardy/Angle was great but also the ending to me helps put Anderson/Angle ahead.

Angle vs. Hardy at No Surrender was not only Angle's best match in 2010 but is easily TNA's ppv match of the year thus far. The match truly did feel like an epic encounter between the two. It was overbooked but that actually worked in favor of this match to some degree. I don't think it made the ankle lock look particularly effective, otherwise Jeff Hardy's ankle has to be made of adamantium. But, it was just a very fun match all around and it broke up the monotony of Kurt Angle wading his way through the top 10 contenders.

The stipulation of Angle retiring if he lost one of those matches killed the fire of that storyline and virtually all the matches have been quite forgettable. It didn't have to be that way and all of those matches could have potentially been what Hardy/Angle was at No Surrender. Due to TNA's booking choices, we all pretty much assumed that Angle would go over Hardy cuz Angle ain't retiring at the very least until BFG so interest in this match was extremely low. Everyone knew that it'd be a pretty good match in and of itself, but there'd been little buzz for it plus we just figured Angle would win like he's won all the other top 10 contender matches.

This match didn't go in the route we expected, which was good. However, it could have been great if TNA had booked the overall Angle storyline and this match in particular to seem like little more than filler.

Angle vs Anderson at TNA Lockdown might have been the best match of TNA in 2010.
It's been said before, but the spots, the psychology, the feud leading into it, it was not just a phenomenal match, but the best most in-depth feud of 2010 so far.

One thing Anderson is best at is psychology. And not just ring psychology. He might not always do it, but Anderson is capable of brilliance whether on the mic or in the ring. I never have seen it said before, but he kind of reminds me of Roddy Piper.

So yeah, Angle/Anderson at Lockdown was Kurt's best match of 2010.

I really enjoyed Angle and AJ Styles match on the live January 4h Impact. As far as pure intensity and setup, I would have to go with Angle vs. Anderson at Lockdown. The match was so intense and brought out the best in both men. Angle vs. Hardy at No Surrender was another classic, but its rare to see such a beloved face and a hated heel face each other in a match the caliber of Lockdown. There wasn't much build up or excitement for Angle vs. AJ on Impact, or Angle vs. Jeff Hardy at No Surrender. Angle vs. Anderson at Lockdown this year was planned perfectly from start to finish.

So far Angle vs. Anderson at Lockdown would have to be Angle's best match this year so far for my money.

Easily Hardy/Angle for this year

He managed to do something that hasn't been done in years since his feud with HHH.. make Hardy look like a legit main eventer. He looked like frickin AJ styles out there for a few seconds. It just made me think how badass Hardy could be as a heel and swanton the hell out of all his opponents in and out the ring like how he did Angle.

Angle/Anderson iii in the cage was pretty good too, but I prefer not to support my claims with gimmick matches, too much room for debate.

Angle/Anderson @ Lockdown was the best. The match by itself was great. It was violent, it went back & forth, & you had the sick moonsault off the top of the cage. You also can't overlook the fact that it was by far the best performance of Anderson's career. But you also have to take into account the feud leading up to the match. In my opinion, it's the feud of the year in either TNA or WWE. Anderson was so perfect as a heel in that period of time, & Angle cut some really emotional promos talking about his family life & his performing for the troops. Of course, you had that spot on Impact where the troops "beat up" Anderson. Yeah, it wasn't performed great, but it looked cool, especially when the troops got in the ring & put Angle on their shoulders. So, taking everything into account, I have to say Angle/Anderson was not only Angle's best match this year, it is the match of the year period.

I would agree with nearly everyone here, I think Angle/ Anderson was a great match, and is second to HBK/Taker this year. The storyline was great. Everyone said that time angle takes the person he feuds out of the lost shuffle and makes the best feud in TNA. And this one topped them all.

HArdy/ANgle and Styles/Angle where great also. They are for sure in the top 10 matches of the year, but Angle/Anderson intesity was very high to be topped.

I would have to say it is between the Lockdown match vs Anderson. The January 4th match with AJ Styles and No Surrender with Jeff Hardy.

angle and anderon is the best match cause these guys freakin hated each and it made sense why they were fighting while hardy and kurt was a tournament match.im not saying hardy and kurt match wasnt good it was awesomee but i give this 1 to anderson and angle

I have to give this one to angle/hardy as I expected angle/anderson to be damn good... my thinking on hardy/angle was it might be a decent match... my thinking was wrong... dead wrong, and kudos to hardy, he didn't phone this one in (and that powerbomb he took in the beginning.... fucking sick!)

my pick is Angle Vs Aj .That was an epic encounter between these two for the world title .it was lot of high spots and unbelievable high energy spectacle one, that should be the no1 match of the year contender in my opinion.:worship:

For me it's still Anderson/Angle at Lockdown, as the match gave us one of the finest Kurt Angle performances of his career, including his seldom used back-flip off the top of the fuckin' cage.

The build-up to that feud was the single greatest story TNA had running at the time, and IMO is the best told story they've written thus far this year.

The Angle Vs Hardy was a great match but the overbooking at the end makes me not pick it for his best match of year. Angle's best match of the year was Vs Mr Anderson at Lockdown, the match had a great story and psychology. The build up to the match was probably the best that Tna has had this whole year and it is contender for MOTY.

I have to go with Angle/Anderson. That was just an awesome match, it ws built up really well with Anderson always coming out on top and now Angle finally gets his hands on him in a cage. Then the actual match was fantastic it was just as brutal and bloody as it needed to be, the false endings of each of them nearly walking out the door but not were great as they really played up how much they hated eachother, and that moonsault was absolutely insane. I would not only Kurts best but TNA's best match of the year.
