And yet another reason to not take NCAA Football seriously...

Excellence of Execution
The USC football program will receive two-year postseason ban, a reduction in scholarships and a forfeiture of wins from at least the 2004 season when the NCAA releases it sanctions on Thursday, a source told ESPN's Shelley Smith.

ESPN the Magazine's Bruce Feldman confirmed the two-year postseason ban and a reduction in scholarships from a second USC source.

So, let me see if I have this straight. Because of what coaches and players did 6 years ago, the same coaches and players who aren't there any more, the current players and coaches get penalized? Sounds fair, right?

It's just bullshit. Want to knock out all the cheating? You tell Pete Carroll he's never allowed to coach in the NCAA's anymore. You take a lawsuit against Reggie Bush. But to punish players and coaches who had nothing to do with it is just fucking weak.

God I hate the NCAA as much now as ever.

ugh /facepalm It's the kids that are going to suffer. Way to drop the ball there guys. So wait. do those wins that they vacated include the national championship wins?

So now when they play in the Pac 9000 next year one of the only four conferences left will only get 49 bowl bids.

Yeah I'm hating the NCAA also.

The USC football team is in my top 5 teams I fucking despise the most in sports category.

However, even I agree that this is absolute bullshit. Not only for the reasons Sly stated, but nothing was ever proven for a fact, yet they still give out this kind of harsh punishment to innocent people.

The NCAA will never learn....

It's also thirty people that might not get to go to college now because of something that happened when they were 12 or 13.

Stuff like this (especially how all the teams left in John Calipari's wake get punished as well once he leaves) is one of the reasons why I don't follow college sports anymore.

Whoever did what was wrong needs to be punished. Not the new regimes taking over. One could have the argument that "the school should have known what was going on and kept a closer eye on it"... which is a terrible argument, because schools have a lot more to worry about than what's going on with their athletics, and the people put in charge should be responsible and trustworthy enough to act ethically where little to no policing is done by the school itself.
