Alberto Del Rio at Wrestlemania

So according to ADR himself, he has tried to punch The Miz backstage. (which is stupid, cos ADR should be in just as much trouble as the miz if its true) So Here are a couple of questions.
1.Do you think this is real or just a way to get miz and Del Rio a match at mania?
2. If it is staged, who do you think will be the face and who will be the heel?

First of all, I wouldn't make to much out of the whole Miz/Del Rio dirt sheets. Well because they're dirt sheets, you can't really trust if the dirt sheets are spot on, or drop dead lies. (In most cases they are.) Hell, I could email Justin LaBar and tell him as a Backstage mic grip for Monday Night Raw I heard that Kelly Kelly was sleeping around with John Cena and CM Punk. Needless to say, dirt sheets would jump on this regardless.

But to answer the question, a Miz/Del Rio match could happen at Wrestlemania if they had did this before Elimination Chamber was coming around the corner. Miz has a ton of charisma and can make himself a Face if the WWE needed him to be a Face. But he would need time to grow and become a fan favorite. Let alone, you have to set the feud. So no, I don't think a Miz/ Del Rio feud can happen at this years Wrestlemania, realistically speaking.

Who will he feud with?

I think that he will have a match with rey mysterio, because im pretty sure that adr was the one who injured mysterio. I think that adr needs to have a couple feuds before getting back into the main event scene on raw, and this could be the start of that. I think they should have a ladder match, because it would be a chance to see some cool highflying moves at wrestlemania.

Meh, I guess the obvious set up is Rey, but aren't there talks about having a MITB only consisting of past champions? He'd easily slot into that, don't think many people would be interested in ADR vs Rey.

My wildcard idea would be to do an elimination match, Team ADR (Del Rio, Primo and Epico) vs Team Mysterio (Rey, Sin Cara and another face Mexican/Hispanic). That could work quite well, even though it's super generic.

They'll probably do the all-champions MITB. You have slots for Del Rio, Mysterio, Christian, Kane, Big Show, Randy Orton.

It's pretty much a given right now that we'll have:

Sheamus vs. Bryan
Punk vs. Jericho
Rock vs. Cena

Not sure if we'll have Orton vs. Barrett, but there really aren't any other current ongoing feuds that will culminate at WM.

I think they should capitalize on the recent comments by Del Rio on Miz and have Miz turn face on Raw then have the two face each other at Mania. Miz is not exactly high on the WWE's list right now and he's back in the mid-card while Del Rio has nothing going for him in the main events too. So unless there's a MiTB match at Mania, I think these two would be best put together. It's the only main event match left for both of them while on Raw.

As far as what Del Rio is doing at Wrestlemania? I can see him facing Rey Mysterio sure, but is it what WWE is likely to do? I don't think so, I believe he will be facing Christian at Wrestlemania.

I feel that they never really had a conclusive finish to that feud last year. Due to Edge's retirement and the decision of Del Rio getting drafted they rushed out of that feud really quickly. It's probably the only unfinished business Del Rio has left besides Mysterio. Another great possibility is Kofi Kingston, consider that he is in the elimination chamber match and is went over the Miz on Raw 2 weeks ago. Like I said in another thread, if Kofi can have John Morrison like performance at EC and further win over the crowd I am sure he long postponed moment of breaking out will come. A match with Del Rio can show that these are 2 upper mid-card guys that can move up to the main event (more so Kingston because Del Rio has already main evented). The final option I can see is having ADR in the Money in the bank ladder match, it's fine with me.

So, as to what del Rio is doing at WM. Well, that's quite a pickle. He's sort of stuck between mid card and main event, right now. He's not going to get a sniff of the World title and there aren't many upper mid-card (or even mid-card) faces to wrestle. There are two potential opponents, though: Kofi Kingston and Brodus Clay. I really doubt Kofi would be given that big of a push. Afterall, Alberto is WWE's golden boy, in many ways and Kofi... well, Kofi... is an afterthought. Kingston will most likely get his rematch for the tag titles with Bourne. With Brodus Clay, it really depends on how far the WWE are willing to push Clay or how long they are willing to stick Alberto in the doghouse for. The feud... could work as a filler. You know, Mentor vs. Mentee with ADR sick to his stomach of Brodus' flamboyancy. The feud really does right itself.

Saying that, however, he will most likely be stuck in the MITB match, if there is one this year. If he is in it, he might actually win it. The WWE really are keen on him, and I do see him being a multi-time world title winner in the future. For the mean time, though, his WM match will most likely be filler.

ADR would be better suited this year hoping Rey will be up for competing at WM for a one off program to give the two some air time. They can put on an excellent match any given chance, they have history, and it's a way to get ADR and Rey back on the card without rushing things and/or immediately starting an outside feud and conflicting with other feuds going on.

Miz and Del Rio dont seem to have any rumoured matches yet at WM. I noticed that Miz was 'bullying' Ricardo the other week. Maybe Del Rio will take exception to that on his return?

Some kinda match with a Mexican theme would make sense. Del Rio and Rey have history so little build needed (not alot of time considering both injured). Maybe throw Sin Cara and Hunico aswell and have a Tag Match.

I would agree. To be honest leaving both of them off the Wrestlemania card is stupid. Both men were in title matches this time last year and deserved their spots.

Del Rio needs something fresh to push him farther. Del Rio needs an edge so to speak. "Destiny" is worn out. He's a 2 time WWE champion and has put on solid matches. He needs something to talk about. He needs to berate Miz. Simply put, he needs to be a pompous ass. He's "rich" and should act like a snob....

Miz could definitely use a change of character. A face Miz might be a great idea. He could change up several parts of his current gimmick. The intensity needs to be there but he needs to focus on putting on a show. If he says he's working on putting on a show it could help...

I see him being in a match made up for mid carders/upper mid/lower main be it money in the bank or another match e.g. 4 way tag team match but thats where i see him as the card is already getting stacked

I think a logical program for Del Rio would be with Christian. Christian's going to be on the card @ Wrestlemania, and he's inducting Edge into the Hall of Fame. Thus, I believe he will return as a face. Like R-Truth, his heel turn helped legitimize him in terms of hanging with the top of the card.

Yeah, this may seem like a bit of a rehash, but Christian and Del Rio have a ton of history and not a lot of time left to get into the mix. Del Rio could easily play off it and say he ended Edge's career. I'd much rather see these two showcased in singles matches instead of MITB (ESPECIALLY Christian). It would also be another nice full circle touch to last year (along with Rock/Cena & Taker/HHH).

It is my belief that the perfect opponent for Alberto Del Rio would be Rey Mysterio. You can let out a huge sigh all you want, but Del Rio needs a miracle if he wants to continue his success within the WWE. Mysterio is undoubtedly one of the most respected and over babyfaces currently on the WWE's roster. Del Rio could really use that to his advantage. Don't deny it; Del Rio desperately needs some heat in order for him to remain relevant on the WWE roster. Rey Mysterio being the hugely over babyface he is, can and will likely help Del Rio garner some much needed heat. With both Alberto Del Rio and Rey Mysterio out with injuries, it seems like a perfect solution for finding them both something to do at the WWE's biggest Pay-Per-View of the year.

These two have had numerous matches in the past yet none of them were truly that memorable. They have never competed on WWE's grandest stage and if given fifteen minutes under the bright lights, their match up could definitely classic. Del Rio needs something to do at 'Mania and having little to no chemistry with just about everyone on the WWE roster but Mysterio is even more reason for them to clash at Wrestlemania. Rey Mysterio has been one of the WWE's best when it comes to putting over talent; especially at Wrestlemania.

There's no doubt in my mind, but pitting Rey with Alberto, he can help establish of the WWE brightest up and coming stars. Last year's match between Rhodes and Mysterio proved that. The feud wouldn't need much building. Rey Mysterio comes back, talks about how his time is coming to an end in the WWE. It's time he starts winding down and Del Rio's music hits. Claims Rey needs to leave now, Rey leaves with his head down. Del Rio has match against superstar A and Rey attacks Del Rio leading to a match a Wrestlemania. The WWE writers will likely come up with something better but I could care less how it goes down. Del Rio and Mysterio at 'Mania would be the absolute best option for Alberto Del Rio.

This way all these guys make the card and in a match that will certainly be of value to watch. I agree and disagree with this.

Mania is 6 weeks away which should be ample time enough to build up a credible feud that people care enough about for Mania.

But it has to start NOW. I mean right after Elimination Chamber. I don't wanna see a feud start up in mid March with only a 3 week build. This Mania has the potential to be one of the best in a long time and every match needs to have a Good build. Rock vs Cena, HHH/Taker, Punk vs Jericho, and even the World Title Match already have great builds.

I agree with putting Del Rio in the MITB match. Cause it gives guys like Del Rio, Christian, Mysterio, Kofi, Miz, Truth, and Swagger something to do rather than get lost in the shuffle of the Big 4 Main Events.

The WWE had big plans for Alberto Del Rio when he debuted in the company in 2010. But for unknown reasons, the WWE backed out on those plans on several occasions.


When Del Rio suffered an injury this past December, it was another obstacle that hindered his career. He returned in February 2012, but it seems that the WWE has no real plans laid out for the “Mexican Aristocrat.”

According to Wrestlinginc.com, Del Rio did some media for the WWE in Puerto Rico this weekend, and he commented that he is under the impression that he will not be performing at WrestleMania 28.

The site also reports that Del Rio said he was supposed face Randy Orton and that it was planned for him to be on Team Laurinaitis. He was told recently, though, that he is not appearing on the Team Laurinaitis vs. Team Teddy Match.

Del Rio may still appear at the biggest event in professional wrestling, but it is not known what role he will play. The company gave him a massive push in 2011 and lined him up in a program with former World Heavyweight Champion, Edge.

That program landed a 2011 Royal Rumble win and a shot at the World Heavyweight Title at last year’s WrestleMania.

If Del Rio in fact does not perform at WrestleMania, the WWE could have something planned for him after the pay-per-view.

Del Rio will be pushed again when he is fit, although I think more needs to be done to get the character some heat.

In the majority of his feuds it's been obvious that he's a heel, but I haven't grasped 'why'.

I would love to see Del Rio v Orton, and think it would make a great match though.

Good. The guy is extremely boring. When CM Punk called him out in the middle of the feud, the worst part about what CM Punk said was completely true. I mean, I can't be the only one who's noticed that ADR has cut the exact same promo every single time he comes out since he won last years Royal Rumble, can I? "It's my destiny to become stale because I don't say anything else"

And besides, just because he's said he's not going to be there, doesn't mean it's actually true.

Yeah i was hoping wed get a Del Rio vs. Orton match. I still think the plan is for him to be in the 12 man tag match. Doesn't matter if he's 100% he's got 5 other guys on his team to work the match. He makes sense for the tag especially if Rey returns since I believe he was "taken" out by Del Rio (for the second time if I'm not mistaken). So storyline wise I highly expect a Rey vs. Del Rio feud again and it to kick off at WM.

Even if they did scrap him from the tag match, my guess is hell make some sort of appearance, maybe run interference in that match to give team johnny the win.
