The Cock and Bull Tavern!

“So you didn’t make it to All or Nothing after all?”

He asked, sitting in front of the robot. It is 7:30PM. On the dot in fact, there is a good reason for the two people to be in this location at this time, as the posters on the wall of the public bar show, karaoke starts at 7:35PM. A small crowd has already gathered at the stage with pints in hand, urging each other to go and sing a tune, all knowing that it will be the same faces as last week singing the same songs as last week.

Humans are as repetitive as Machines!

The man from the train station looks at the crowd that S.H.I.T had indicated, gave a disinterested shrug and turned back to the robot. He was a thin man, in a black leather jacket with a white t-shirt, black jeans and boots, a handlebar moustache covered most of his face and his hair was brown and immaculately styled, combed back over his own head. He took a sip from his drink, a fine beer, of German vintage, the brew left a foam in his fantastic moustache.

“Guess they are.” He said with a small grin. “Some more predictable than others though, once you get to know them of course. I ask again, you didn’t make it to all or nothing after all?”

Relatively unnoticed from the corner where they are located, S.H.I.T surveys the establishment. The place is an all wooden affair, wooden tables, chairs, wooden bar, wooden stage, although the walls are painted white, spoiling in S.H.I.T’s eyes what should have been perfect monotony.

Negative! It finally replied. Alex Steele won the match and advanced!

“Happens!” He said with another shrug. “Multi man matches, chaos everywhere, I guess the positive is you didn’t get pinned though.”

S.H.I.T lost the match, that is fact and all that is important!

“I guess, I guess.” He said and sighed. “I am partly to blame of course, got you all prepped up against Internet Warrior and Cooper and Overlast only to leave you on your own when it really mattered.” He shifted in his seat and had another sip of his drink.

S.H.I.T made that decision!

“With a bit of influence I might add.” He chuckled. “Don’t look at me like that.” The robot hadn’t changed its features at all, it having no noticeable ones to speak of, but he felt he had to say it anyway. “Of course that voice had a source, right behind you, I thought you were ready to strike out on your own, to put into practice everything me, Neville and Gustav have taught you. Turns out that left alone your as mindless as ever.”

S.H.I.T competes! That is all!

“Yeah you keep saying that, and then getting beat up and carried out of the ring.” He looked at the stage and sighed again. “Karaoke’s late again, should have guessed.”

Predictable!

“Thing is, that Alex Steele, he may not be the best wrestler in the company, I don’t know obviously, but he always seems to have a game plan. He had one against you.” He points at S.H.I.T for emphasis. “That game plan was to stay the hell out of your way and take down someone else.” He leans back in his chair, S.H.I.T hasn’t moved in all this time. “Even with your mindless, one dimensional assault, you’re a fairly dangerous competitor.”

S.H.I.T was built to be a dangerous competitor!

“Yeah, but your not unstoppable, as has been proved by anyone with enough brains, Jack Skinner for example, Alex Bowen also knew how exactly to lure you into that attack with the chainsaw.”

S.H.I.T’s hand almost instinctively went up to the patched up bodywork that Bowen had not all that long ago made a wreck out of.

“Internet Warrior, he had the brains to beat you, the guys had a rough bit of luck but he’s smart, he’ll get there if he keeps up and actually turns up. A smart fighters better than a tough one, the difference on that day was you."

S.H.I.T’s head tilts to the side.

“He wasn’t expecting you to take risks, before then, you didn’t do it, you edged him. Then you chopped him in the head. I guess you could say. . . . You hit the mark” He guffawed heartily at his own joke, its a strange high pitched laughter that anyone else would feel akward around, especially when he slapped his leg, spilling fine german beer all over his lap, still the laughter continues for what seems like an eternity, finally however seeing that S.H.I.T hasnt reacted at all to his joke he carries on. “You watch any of these wrestlers, some of them might look like the wrestle the same to a casual observer, but every guy there knows his opponent and fights accordingly” Behind him the first victims of the night climb onto the karaoke stage.

“Nobody expected you and Skinner to work well, but you did, while Skinner was giving them all sorts of trouble you came crashing in and dealt out some serious punishment.” He smiled gleefully. “That I enjoyed watching. Unlike those two, butchering a David Bowen classic.” He motions toward the singers, who are currently destroying a rendition of Space Oddity.

Is David Bowen related to the Deranged Alex Bowen?

“God I hope not.” He laughed. “Oh my! The family reunions would be worth watching though.” He looks again at the singers. “I guess we were all young once.”

Not necessarily!

“Yeah right.” He replied, noncommittally.

S.H.I.T will wrestle Justin Cooper at After Shock 2!

“Interesting.” He takes a huge gulp of his beer.

S.H.I.T has defeated Justin Cooper in the past!

“Yes, yes, in a tag team match. The same principal still stands as it did in that match however, he has as much to gain, if not more than you do by winning on that show. I believe he already has a Mayhem Title shot. He’ll be wanting to go into that match with a bit of momentum. As you know, Alex Bowen is tough to crack at the best of times.”

S.H.I.T will apply the same principles and moves that it used the last time to defeat Justin Cooper!

“Or not! You said yourself, in their own way humans are predictable, you better damn well predict that Cooper is ready for that again, he’s no novice. Your tough, you’ve proved that, everyone who faces you whether they win or lose winds up hurting.” He leans forward again, staring intently now. “You just need guidance, with Gustav on the run or wherever he is you’ve been flapping about like an angry goose in matches and sitting about in your box outside of them.”

The robot looks like it is going to reply but is soon cut off again.

“You get a win and think your on top of the world, then you go back to your old ways, not caring about who your against so long as your competing, making childish comments about Johnny Scumm’s mother, as hilarious as I find them.”

Are you offering your guidance to S.H.I.T?

“Might not be me, might be Neville or another one of our friends. Guidance is a start, there’s more to do, so much more. Maybe you could use a partner, I don’t know. I’ll look into it.”

S.H.I.T will accept your recommendations!

He gives a resigned sigh.

“Well, that’s enough of this serious bollocks, don’t you think?” He stands up. “You’ve done well, for what is essentially a child, but the karaoke stage is empty, and I just cant have that. Time to have some fun, like I’ve been telling you to.” Taking S.H.I.T by the arm he leads the machine over to the stage. Sending the robot up first he goes to speak to the man running the show, after a short conversation he comes back to the stage and stands next to S.H.I.T. “You just sing along to those words, you can read right?”

Affirmative!

The music kicks in and many of the patrons, recognising the song look at the odd duo on stage and start to chuckle. The singing is as out of tune as you’d expect from two creatures with no rythym at all, but that doesn’t seem to matter to anybody.

“Young man, there's no need to feel down.”

S.H.I.T SAID, YOUNG MAN, PICK YOURSELF OFF THE GROUND!

"I said, young man, 'cause you're in a new town”
S.H.I.T SAID, YOUNG MAN, BECAUSE YOU ARE IN A NEW TOWN

"There's no need. . to. . be. . unhappy."
THERE IS NO NEED TO BE UNHAPPY!

They both do five pelvic thrusts in time to the beat of the song. Like this.

*Thrust*
*Thrust*
*Thrust*
*Thrust*
*Thrust*

“It's fun to stay at ze VY-M-C-A.”

He does the correct movements for this sequence. S.H.I.T mimics them poorly.

"It's fun to stay at ze VY-M-C-A.”
IT IS FUN TO STAY AT THE VY-M-C-A!

The song continues to play and the man and the robot obviously get the loudest cheers of the night from the rowdy customers, even when he drags S.H.I.T up again for a seventh encore they are met with the rapturous applause befitting there fine performance.

A group of people, around 100, begin to fill a church. The crowd is filled with men, women and children of all ages. Some bring offerings to the front of the church while others just take a seat. The church comes to quiet quickly and with everyone watching on as the head of this congregation, Justin Cooper, steps forward from behind a curtain. Cooper peers out into the crowd before stepping onto an elevated platform with a podium in the middle of it. The room is silent while Justin Cooper, who is wearing a white robe, places his hands on a large book positioned on the podium. After one minutes silence Justin opens the book, flips through the pages, and then he speaks.

Justin Cooper: Time is a precious thing ladies and gentleman. Time cannot be bought from a shop, it cannot be stolen from your neighbour, and it cannot be given back once it is taken. These three things make time the most valuable thing on this earth. We are all on a timeline that has an expiring date. Nobody is immortal. I stand here and I know my time is counting down second by second. I know that time is continuing to run out each day. Time is special and it needs to be used to the best of your ability. Nobody can go back in time and relive what they have done you will only get one chance. As I look around this room I see men and women who have let time run out. I see people who have been taken by the hand and lead to a false hope by the outside world because time to them isn’t valuable. People think that time will go on forever but it doesn’t.

A small pause from Cooper.

Justin Cooper: When I think about time, it usually leads to me thinking about how much I have left. I’m young but being in the wrestling world means you don’t have long. Most of the time you’re lucky to get 6 years out of a career if you don’t get hurt but I have been. I have been put into the hospital by men who had no respect for me and my safety. This world is filled with men that will take advantage of the way we act outside of this safe environment we have built. Our society continues to grow but as we grow the outsiders will continue to tear us down. They think that by hurting us they are doing well but in reality they are only delaying what has already been decided. Time spent attacking us is like throwing it in the trash can or watching in sink in the ocean. Unlike us these people will watch something so valuable slip through their hands on their own accord and then blame us. We are treated like the problem because we spoke out about using it to the best. Society doesn’t want our help and so we will not give them our help and guidance. What we will do is watch society crumble and dies as we laugh from the top of the mountain. Then when the day comes that the people who called us crazy ask for help, we will spit in their face and keep them to the curb.

Cooper takes a step away from the podium and makes his way down the middle of the church.

Justin Cooper: We are the advanced race of humans. We are smarter, stronger and more understanding then anyone they have. From the people who stand in government who blind their people with false hope and lies to gain a position of power. I have never lied to you and I will never lie. I don’t stand on that podium and think I’m better than you. When I stand on that podium I represent you all. I’m the voice that will speak out against the force that drives their society into the ground. I’m making a stand against them and that is why I walk among you all at the moment. I want everyone to see that I am one of you. Don’t think of me as a leader but what I want you to do is treat me like a brother. I’m just like you and when my time is up I will decided who takes my place. I will decide who deserves to bring The High Society even further into the future. Unlike the evils of a government that would sell its own people to succeed, I would not. We are one and we will stay together as everyone around us falls into pit of depression and suffering.

At this time Cooper has made his way back up to the podium.

Justin Cooper: Through WrestleZone Championship Wrestling our voice is being heard. This company doesn’t have the power to silence us all it can do is hope we don’t cross a line. Until the day I’m fired I will fight to have our feelings and our beliefs portrayed across the world through this company. Every time I step into the ring I wear a badge of honour for you people. I stand across from opponents who have no idea what they are getting into. I look into the eyes of men who have no inner purpose other than greed. I am not powered by greed; I’m powered by you. Someone like the robot, or whatever he is, S.H.I.T is the perfect example of greed. His actions tell a story of desperate man with no hope left within his body. I looked at S.H.I.T a few weeks ago and thought I could help this man but I was wrong.

A loud gasp comes from the people listen to Cooper.

Justin Cooper: Yes, even I was wrong. I thought this man could be useful to our cause but when I looked into his eyes I saw his soul was empty and all will was gone. His mind is rattled, his body is weak and after our match will career will be dead. When defeat meets S.H.I.T it will take whatever is left in his body. Nothing will be spared as defeat hunts for its pray. This match really means nothing at all in terms of what I get out of it. I already have a match booked with the Mayhem Champion after All or Nothing so in reality I don’t need a victory.

Suddenly Cooper takes off his robe to reveal a custom made suit with his name on the pocket. The discarded white robe is picked up by a little boy who seems frightened to make a sound while making his way onto the stage and past Cooper.

Justin Cooper: But what would it say about me if I didn’t try? Unlike most men even with my title match booked and in the bank I will continue to compete at the top level. I will continue to win and go into my match with the Mayhem Champion with a momentum on my side. Last week The Internet Warrior discovered just how harsh defeat can be well that was nothing to compared to what S.H.I.T and the Mayhem Champion will face when they meet me inside the ring. Mayhem isn’t what The High Society is about however when I get my hands on that title it will further our cause. I will bring honour and structure back to a championship that was created for the sole purpose of craziness. The time for change is upon WZCW and I will make that change for the better. It is now that I have my chance to break through the barrier that has been holding me back. I will breakthrough and take my place as a champion. I will because I believe in The High Society.

The people in the church all respond with an “I believe” of their own.

Justin Cooper: The next time I step into this building I will have gold around my waist. All the locks are undone, the barriers have been destroyed and the time is now for Justin Cooper. The King of Mayhem shall fall and a new leader shall rise in his spot. S.H.I.T has my full attention for this week but after All or Nothing my focuses turns to the champion.

The scene ends with Justin Cooper stepping off the stage and heading back behind the curtain where he came from. The crowd all lower their heads for a minutes silence as we fade to black.
