A Suspended Matt Hardy

ForzaItalia

Layeth The Smackdown!
With Matt Hardy being suspended as part of a storyline, I think it is a great chance for Matt to have one last ride before his career ends. Eventually he could become World Champ if he gets his body where it needs to be. This past week on SD it seemed Hardy was in great shape and his twist of fate at over the limit was the best one I have seen in a while. This storyline will evolve into a very personal feud with McIntyre and McMahon, which is what Hardy needs right now if he wants to be a main eventer. A feud with the boss will help Matt and can alter his character to when he was sort of a badass character with Edge. I suggest keeping Matt off the season finale of nxt to add to the storyline because if does show up it will ruin the spark of the storyline. Hell, even have him interfere in the title match this week and have him be escorted by police just like the Edge storyline. IMO we need to see the crazy Matt Hardy like we saw with the Edge feud and not this boring, nice Matt Hardy we see now. Your Thoughts?

This has been a very personal feud, and Matt has been dedicated to it since day one. With the head injury and his suspension he has been using his time off tv to train extra hard and it shows. When he was on NXT last week, you could see the change in his physical appearance and his attacks on drew have been fierce and decisive.I can't wait to see how this is gonna turn out.

This will hopefully be the Matt Hardy push we've all been waiting for and if he does get his body into good shape, I can see him capturing the World Title at long last. Matt's so dedicated to the business and it'd be a damn shame if he couldn't be in the main event scene at lease once, and ECW doesn't count everyone! Matt and Drew could have a real bad ass feud go on and I hope Matt becomes that loose cannon he was in his battle with Edge!

Matt Hardy won't be a main eventer, it's that simple, while Matt Hardy is very over, it was his brother who was the beloved one of them, the success so to say.

Matt Hardy has always been in somewhat of a bad shape, it's simply worsened over the past few years, he's getting older, and I think if he would've ever graced the world championship, he would've done it already, but he hasn't.

And WWE shouldn't alter Matt Hardy's gimmick, let alone have him feuding with Vince McMahon, a character who's heel days is pretty much dead, with the exception of over letters to further the heel side of Drew McIntyre, so the only person in that situation that Matt could feud with, would be Drew.

I'm just going to copy and paste the following response in this thread, just like I do for all of the other delusional people that actually think Matt Hardy will ever amount to anything in the WWE again. Let's take a deep breath, people...

"Gee... another thread dedicated to pushing another completely undeserving talent. Never seen that before.

Let's face it, the most exciting thing about Matt Hardy is the beginning of his theme music. From the second he comes out of the curtain I'm bored to tears. Sure, the guy can wrestle. Sure, he understands how to storytell in a match. But when have those factors ever done anything to entertain the audience?

He just doesn't have the "it" factor that his brother has. His physique has severely dimished over the years, he currently has NO gimmick, his look isn't enticing, his mic skills are average at best, and the crowd just doesn't connect with him. Besides, how many straps do you have to throw on him and how many pushes do you need to hand-feed him in order for people to act even remotely interested in anything that he does?

That saddest thing that the WWE could have done was take away his V1 gimmick during his stint in the Cruiserweight Division along side Shannon Moore. That was some of the funniest television I've seen in years and once it was taken away, Matt Hardy became a glorified jobber. Not even his (unnecessarily long) feud with MVP sparked my interest.

It's a shame, but Matt Hardy is not on the WWE's "To Do" list because when he is given the ball, he simply cannot deliver."

Is there anything more to say?

Matt Hardy will NEVER become World Champion. Why does that sound so damn factual? 'Cause he hasn't been entertaining in years. I like Matt Hardy, but as a mid-carder. He lacks any genuine passion to promote any kind of convincing attitude that he wants to become World Champion or soar higher. From the lack of moves to lack of any fire or gimmick, it's obvious. All I can see him do from here on out is either feud with someone again or continue to job. That's it. He's done everything he could at his stage.

For the record, I am not saying that Matt should hold a world title. I am just saying if does get his body in shape he could have a decent chance of winning it. I am trying to say that if WWE makes the Matt Hardy character sort of a psycho-like character like he was with Edge it would bring life back to his career and current role.

Really?

Sure looked like it to me.

No, we know what you're saying. You're basically insinuating that Matt Hardy has a blue shot in hell at winning the title. And you're WRONG. People need to get it through their thick skulls... it'll NEVERRRRRR happen!!!

I'm not going into the reasons again. I've explained them countless amounts of times. The guy had a billion chances and couldn't capitalize on them.

i am hoping this will be
matt Hardy's push into the main event picture. But i could also see this as a chance for him to go to tna with jeff and shannon moore. They could have Drew "injure" Hardy and release him from his contract like Drew ended his career.

I'm okay with Matt Hardy overall, but he will never wear the world heavyweight championship. I seriously believe Christian or Dolph Ziggler would have a better chance at being involved in the world title picture than Matt. Hardy is just not a main eventer. He's a mid card guy, and he will remain that way. WWE really tried to get Hardy over as a heel by having him feud with his VERY popular brother last year, but nobody really cared. Matt went to Raw, and while he did get injured, still, he would have never went anywhere on Raw. Even with a new persona, and new look, people just didn't care about him enough.

Matt will not win the WWE or World Heavyweight Championship. This is just something you have to accept.

Now, now D-Man. Matt Hardy's not that bad. He's way over with the crowd and this Drew thing is going well for me. Sure, he may not be chiseled like his beautiful brother Jeff, but which one is still in the company? Must be a reason, eh? He had sex with Lita for reals as well. Mad respect.

What was this about again? O ya, doubt Matt will ever become a world champion, but definetly can continue to have solid matches in the midcard and help with young talent like Drew. Could be in some ladder matches as well, now that Shelton's gone.

Matt Hardy will not be a main event champion. Ever. I hate to say that, but it is true. I could see him capturing one of the midcard championships again, maybe a tag-team title run, but not a main event championship. And it's got nothing to do with whether he's entertaining or not (which he can be when allowed to be.) There is one thing in his past that has and will forever prevent him from being a main event champion: Cruserweight Championship. Sad really, but that is pretty much the kiss of death for any wrestler who wants a main event championship.

Now, I will grant that there has been one exception to this rule. That is Rey Mysterio. He did get the World Heavyweight Championship. Once. And he was booked as one of the weakest Heavyweight Champions in the history of the WWE. To my knowledge, no other Cruserweight Champions have ever held a main event championship. That is not to say none of these people were entertaining. That is to say that WWE creative does not think cruserweights worthy of championing the main event. There is a reason why the World Heavyweight Title specifies the term "Heavyweight".

Now I should point out that Matt Hardy's worth isn't based on championships. Not by a long shot. Matt Hardy's best moments haven't even been in the championship fight. They've been in personal vendetta story lines. That's where Matt shines. Nobody can do bitter and vengeful quite like Matt. That being said, forget about Matt and a main event championship. I could see him getting the IC championship one day, but that's as far as I'll go. If he wants a main event championship, his only chance is to "cross the line" and even then there's no guarantee.

Matt Hardy is great. He has always been the harder worker of the Hardy's and always took more bumps whereas Jeff took more risks(If that makes sense). Matt's repetoire is a very bland one as i have never seen him ever use a submission move other than the Scar. Matt has two things going for him that many others don't.

His Marketability
Matt has one of the most vocal fan bases in wrestling. He could be a jobber right now but his merchandise will still sell like hotcakes. People like Randy Orton don't get as big pops as Matt does when his music hits. If Matt could find some way to bottle his charisma and sell it then the guy would be a millionaire.

His Ability to tell a story
I don't think I need to say much about this. The Edge/Lita/Matt fued went so far as that Matt revealed both Edge & Lita's names which is something you never see in wrestling. He & Edge brawled for weeks on end and Matt showed his ability and how personal the fued was with the awesome Side Effect off the stage. They had a great match at Unforgiven & Matt seemed to lose all the momentum he had when he went to Smackdown. When him & Jeff had their fued that was another great story told(Though the whole "Jeff, I burned your house down" was a bit much.) but again once Matt went to RAW a place teaming with heels at the time he lost all momentum after his lose to Jeff at Backlash.

Matt Hardy is an incredibly loyal person & one of WWE's true diamonds in the rough. Though all his friends have gone to TNA he remains loyal to the show he grew up watching.Matt has always been the harder worker of the two Hardy's & hell what damage would it do to put the a World title on him? They get tossed around every month anyhow. Matt is one of my favourite wrestlers yes but he will never be world champion. This is a sad fact but we don't need a douche like D-Man hating on him.

I was wondering how Matt Hardy's suspension would effect his role on NXT also. But he was at the finale, so that means that it didn't effect his role at all. With that said, I think what Matt Hardy did on Smackdown was hilarious. His timing and believability in his actions was just amazing. I love how he bypassed the security, ran into the ring, performed the "Twist of Fate", and ran away from the security. It was great to see and gave Hardy a nice "rebel" side to him, which I think is great.

I think that this was kayfabe, If hey wanted to take a break he would. But no, instead they have him show up at the match for the IC title? I don't think he wanted a break from work. Probably just to build heel character for Drew.

They're trying to recreate the "Matt versus Edge" story, right? I'm not convinced they'll be able to pull this off.

Matt, although a decent worker with years of exposure in WWE, is now just Surrogate Jeff Hardy to WWE fans. If you listen carefully, you can hear the chant: "WE WANT JEFF! ...but we guess we'll take Matt."

Who is Drew McIntyre again and why should anyone care about him? He looks like the default wrestler from the Create-A-Wrestler mode in wrestling video games. Well, maybe he can get a few "PLAYER 1! PLAYER 1!" chants going for him.

Of course its kayfabe. Just like drew getting fired was kayfabe and how drew put matt on the shelf was kayfabe. Its a storyline and one that i quite like it is truely where matt shines.

There are obvious reason why someone like Orton doesn't get pops as big as Hardy. It could be the fact that Orton has been face/tweener for about six months while Hardy has been face for half a decade. Matt Hardy can tell a story in the ring but most of the time it's a very boring one. I think the guy as a decent in-ring wrestler but his style just puts me to sleep. He is as only entertaining as Jeff was and that's a simple fact. Jeff was the merchandise seller and the crowd favorite. Matt has had plenty of pushes but just couldn't get over. His time has passed and he needs to keep doing what he is doing now- put over the younger talent on Smackdown and he is doing a good job at it.
