A possible new forum game

Winning a game doesn't prove anything. Games are popularity contests. The "noobs" might win it, but if they're not respected, it won't matter. If I read the rules right anyway, you just had to make 3 posts, not necessarily good ones.

Ah. Gotcha. Posting 3 posts is nothin'.

I think it would be fun. I think you and X would be good at it. Razor and Tastycles as well.

No offense, but after hearing off all the issues with the Debator's League (at least with judging, or lack of), I'd be hesitant to follow anything started by you right now. I have no need to prove myself either. I know who I am better than, and I know who is better than me.

Hmmmm, care to name names?:suspic:

Doesn't really have anything to do with me...

I have judged 78 of the 80 debates.

I'm told it's not near being finished though. Whether it's you or not, it's your baby. Anything that goes wrong is going to fall on you.

Its the last week next week of the regular season. Doesn't seem to be an issue right now. A couple judges don't judge, so others judge more.

Which means you're heading into a "playoffs" without the "regular season" finished?

And why make the other judges judge more? It's not their fault the other ones no-showed. I'm sure they have other things to do on the forum then read someone else's debate.

The don't have to. But It is why I hired on 5 extra judges. The Playoff's start in 3 weeks, meaning there is 2 weeks to get the judging done. So not a big issue. I don't really see much complaint with the Debater's League.

And Lariat, I finished yours 5 minutes ago.

I mean, it's a great concept. It really is.

I'm sure it is/was. But, judging is pretty much the backbone of it, and even TM says he hasn't judged them all. I'm sure that means that the other judges haven't done half that probably.

Why would you? It's your league. The fact you needed to "hire" 5 extra judges, and are giving them 2 weeks to do all the judging, means it was ran wrong from the beginning. I'm assuming this is why previous attempts have failed.

This probably wouldn't be worth all of the trouble, bickering, and uncalled for flaming. I thought the whole "new posters suck" thing was old news.

How does post count determine how good a poster is? Just reading over the game, that is what it seems like the game is measuring. How does post count in a defined window of time in order to win a contest determine if the so-called New School or Old School is better?

The idea sounds completely ridiculous to me.

I never said anything about the game making you a good poster, It is just another elimination game, for fun. I really didn't care if it was so called new posters versus old, mods versus non mods, boys versus girls, adults versus kids, Americans versus internationals, virgins versus non, people who like cats versus people who like dogs, or whatever else there are for dividing lines. Making you post was just a way to add a new preventive measure to the time between voting, instead of the old wait an hour policy that usedto exist in ofer elimination games, but the new policy would involve something that is beneficial to the forums.

Point was to have fun.

I call the team that likes dogs.

This is ridiculous.

You said it. Probably for different reasons, but at least we both uttered the word "ridiculous" in here.
