Designers make clothes to express themselves, just like any other artist, they can't limit themselves by what an average woman's size is unless they want to specifically design for them.

Not something that men can really change. That perception is created by the fashion industry, which does support a stick thin look. If the preferrably look for a woman were determined by what most guys think, it'd be a pretty face, big ta-ta's, thin tummy, and a nice ass. Unfortunately we can't do anything about it.

If a designer makes something that only fits a certain size then too bad for whatever model that can't fit into that. If you can't handle people criticizing your body, then don't become a model.

So why doesn't the designer make them in a normal size? It's really not difficult. And there's a difference between criticism and telling someone they're too fat, when there is no way she is.

I don't know too much about designing, but some forms of fashion, especially avant-garde, I doubt could be created in average sizes. It's just the way it is. What the modeling world sees as too big is different from what we think is too big and any woman needs to be confident in herself and her body before entering it. If a model is told to lose weight, but she feels comfortable with it, it's her choice to stay the same weight or lose it.

Which is the main reason we have anorexia and bullemia on such a wide scale. I'm a size 10-12, and I'm happy with that. But for someone who isn't as confident seeing an agency calling Size 12 too fat, what are they going to think? It's irresponsible to say the least.

What is possibly being overlooked here is the fact that high fashion runway work is entirely about the clothing, the designers, and their respective designs. It's about the Art of Fashion. The decadence; The exclusivity.
People within the industry have often said to one degree or another that the models are not there to be seen as idealized forms of feminine beauty and should not be regarded as such. In reality their role is not to be noticed at all. Acting instead as human clothes hangers, a model's chief job is to parade around a cat walk displaying the designer's creations, nothing more nothing less.
Like it or not, agree or not, there are very specific and exacting requirements to being a haute couture or high fashion runway model. Therefore if one is to participate one must conform to said standards. Decidedly statuesque rawboned women become models; it's not the other way around. If you're a round peg (no pun intended) don't try to fit into a square hole.
That woman's picture is very attractive but that's really not the issue at hand nor should it be a point of contention. At the heart of the matter is how the fashions drape on her frame at her current body fat percentage and in accordance to predetermined rules.
Those that are critical of the decision to have her drop some fat seem to be lacking a bit of perspective in relation to this woman's weight. When it's said that her amount of body fat is too high, it is in regards to her chosen profession as a fashion model. It is not too high for her health, nor is it to high to be considered unattractive, lacking in beauty, or sexually undesirable.
