Motley Crue takes this one easily. They've had many hits, and after a few break-ups they're back together making music currently. They've influenced many bands, and they're usually credited for writing the first 80s power ballad. Quiet Riot was pretty much a one hit wonder, but still remain popular. All in all Motley Crue still takes this one for me.

Motley Crue are awful absoloutaly awful they are simply put the worst rock band in history, and thats not even exagerating. Quiet riot were not a one hit wonder at all they scored several decent hits which did better than most of Motley Crue singles- and Cmmon Feel the Noize sold more than all the Motley Crue singles combined ever did. Metal Health was the first metal album ever to reach the #1 spot in the charts, that in its own makes them better than the Motley Crue. Motley Crue have consistantly made bad music, and the only awards they have ever managed to win have been of the variety of "worst album of the year", "worst song of the year", and "worst band of the century". How they are so resoundingly able to beat Quiet Riot is beyond me. Motley Crue were once described as Kiss Extra-Light, and I can't personally find a better way to describe them.

Quiet Riot was pretty much just known for "Cum on Feel the Noize". "Bang Your Head" was up there too, but those are pretty much the only hits from Quiet Riot. I will give credit where credit is due. They had a #1 Album and a top 5 single at out at the same time, which was rare for a metal band in '83, but Motley Crue has lasted longer, sold more records, had more hits, and influenced more bands. You have to give them the credit they deserve.
