6 pack challenge could have waited?

MCMG

King Of The Ring
It was announced on RAW that at Night of Champions will feature a 6 pack challenge between Sheames, Chris Jericho, Edge, Randy Orton, John Cena and Wade Barret.

A month later is the Hell in a Cell ppv. It has been over ten years since Kurt angle won the only 6 man hell in a cell match defeating The Undertaker, Triple H, Steve Austin, Rikishi, and The Rock.

So could this match at night of champions never happen and have Sheames face
someone else and get his clean victory in a ppv championship match.

I feel this match would be different and exciting it can still be pg if needs be but having it in a hell in a cell would be a better choice.

I think the six man hell in the cell will never happen again because it has been replaced essentially by the elimination chamber that features six men and a cage. that match was pretty much the precursor to the elimination chamber

Nah, I don't think it'd be a good idea to have another armageddon hell in a cell match. Think it through logically, the last armageddon hell in a cell featured people being thrown off the top of the cell itself, people bleeding everywhere and complete chaos on top, outside and inside the cell. In WWE's current rating and situation, they wouldn't be able to re-enact that again so it'd just be one massive rumble in the ring. That'd be a terrible idea for a match in my opinion. Do you really want 6 people rumbling in the ring like it literally was a Royal Rumble? It wouldn't make for a good Championship match in my opinion. Hell in a Cell's are just a novelty now, nobody really bleeds anymore so the "unforgiving steel" factor has legitimately been taken out of the equation. It's basically just having a normal match inside a box.

As Danielr11220 said I think the Elimination Chamber took the 6 Man Hell In A Cell match, also I can't see it being as good as it was because WWE is now PG.

Well, obviously its a better choice in a Hell in a Cell but really that match 10 years ago cannot be recreated in any way, shape or form. There's nothing wrong if it never happens again although I would really like to see it happen with the current roster, although I wouldn't be surprised if Cena won -.-'

More than likely this is being done now as a way for Sheamus to lose the title w/o losing face. Also there is a chance the HHH will be back in time for Hell in a Cell allowing for the fued between him and Sheamus to resume w/o the title to cloud matters.

I remember that 6 pack hell in a cell, it was very good of a match, it kind of shocked me when angle retained the title I thought there was no way Kurt would retain with such big challengers like that.

Now this six pack challenge I think will be very very good too, and sincerely I prefer it at night of champions in a normal" match instead of a hell in a cell, specially for the pg rating, if they were in the attitude era or at least not so PG stupid it could have been a very good bloody second ever 6 man hell in a cell, but in this era with all this PG things, I really prefere a well done exciting 6 man normal match, single pin.

The reason they're doing the 6 pack Challenge has nothing to do with the cell match being a bad idea or anything. It's because it's NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS. Let's say for example Randy Orton got a title shot, one on one, at the PPV. Where does that leave Cena, Edge, Jericho, and I suppose all of Nexus, with no other titles they can fight for? EVERY MATCH a title, so they couldn't do that. So instead they crammed all the MEers into one match so they wouldn't have to sit on the sidelines. I'd be shocked if Smackdown had a 1 on 1 match, because with Kofi and Ziggler feuding for the IC title, that only puts 4 Smackdown guys on a PPV. So expect 2 Six Pack Challenges.

No the 6-man Hell in a Cell is very outdated. We have the elimination chamber and the Armageddon Hell in a Cell is really just an ancestor to the new elimination chamber. This 6 pack challenge should be quite good because you have all these feuds colliding into one match and you can expect a very good finish to the match unless Nexus ruins it. You can expect to see a lot of finishers and exciting and this match too. I am pulling for Wade Barrett to pull the upset here because if he does win the Nexus will have more momentum then ever and could last another two months or more.

how on earth is the Armaggedon hell in the cell old news and outdated. there was like one of them and it was awesome. They have both the money in the bank and tlc matches, so why cant there be both types of cage matches.

I have a strong gut feeling that nexus will attack and help Barrett cash in or if miz losses the u.s. belt he will cash in at the end of the night but i think more along the lines of the nexus jump in, is what will happen

This match provides the perfect opportunity to put the title on Wade Barrett. Think about it, Nexus currently has 5 members and Barrett has 5 opponents in this match. I see a scenario where Barrett is in the ring with Sheamus and the other 4 participants of the match are attacked by the other 4 members of Nexus, while Barrett gets the pin on Sheamus. I actually think thats why they made a 6 pack challenge. Seems like kind of a coincidence that Barrett has 5 members in his group and 5 opponents.

And if they were really smart they would have a 5 on 5 war games match at Hell in a cell (the following ppv) featuring the 5 Nexus Members vs Barrets 5 Night of Champions opponents: Cena, Orton, Edge, Jericho, & Sheamus. Although i'd like to see them go that route, i doubt it will happen.

If Sheamus loses the belt this quickly, they may as well leave it off of him for a long while. This hot-potato with the title has got to stop. And it seems like they're afraid to let him win clean one on one or lose the title one on one. When he lost it the first time it was a triple threat wasn't it? Some multi-competitor match. Anyhow, it's getting stupid. Either let him retain or keep it off of him until the end of the year, maybe WM. I want to hate him and see him feared as a dominant force, but it seems everytime there's the slightest possibility for him to achieve that status, they strip the belt. Eeeeeesh

To answer the topic of the thread, No. This match couldn't have waited. Let's say they went with a one on one match, what would the other 4 guys do? They don't have titles so they wouldn't make the card unless there was a make shift tag match.

This match makes more sense.

It's a huge coincidence considering at the time of Monday's Raw being taped (last week) Nexus had 6 members. Only Darren Young has been thrown out of the group and Skip Sheffield had not sustained his injury. They had no way of predicting that would happen.

I'm sure they have factored the Nexus in this match though. I feel certain they will interfere but I am not putting my cards on the table for this one. They could go in absolutely any direction with this match. There isn't a man who is unlikely to win the belt in the match. I think with the rumours Edge is to leave for Smackdown soon to boost their new homes ratings upon launch, he would have to be considered the most unlikely to win but that isn't concrete and it'd be a huge surprise to match.

As for the 5 on 5 wargames. As nice as it'd be and as much I'd like to see it back... I'm getting a little tired of these mega matches. I'd rather see all these guys in one on one competition. Factor in Bragging Rights, Elimination Chamber, Survivor Series and TLC we're going to be seeing plenty of matches featuring multiple superstars over the next half of the year

Yeah, I miss the Armaggedon Hell in a Cell. They could've given us something unique we havent seen in a while, but because of the Elimination Chamber taking its place and WWE being PG, it wouldnt work out. Shame.

I agree that this makes since for night of champions instead of waiting. If they did not have it set up as a 6 pack challenge, then we would have probably been left with Jericho and Edge forming a team to fight the Hart Dynasty for no other reason than to get them on the card, and maybe having Cena fight Miz for the US title which would really be stupid. So yeah they needed to do this match instead of waiting.

And not to get too far off topic, but I think this is kind of the problem with the "themed" PPV's. It forces them to book specific matches at certain PPV's whether it is the best timing for them or not. I prefer not knowing for sure that there will be 2 Hell in the Cell on an upcoming PPV, but like the unexpectedness that you use to get when a HITC or Elimination Chamber match or TLC or whatever stipulation match was announced. I think it made those matches feel more special because you never knew when you were going to have them, and it made the feud I think that much better when it got to the point of going to one of those matches instead of just having that stipulation because that is what PPV is coming up. If they didnt have the Hell in the Cell PPV then they could have done another Armageddon style HITC if they wanted, but now it kind of makes the HITC matches feel forced.

The six-pack challenge should take place at Night of Champions rather than wait to take place at Hell in the Cell.

I think the Hell in the Cell PPV will be able to generate enough buyrates strickly because the Hell in a Cell matches that will take place on the Pay-Per View. Night of Champions does not have anything that will bring in the buys on its on and relies on matches such as a Six Pack Challenge with five of the companies biggest stars plus an potentially future star in order to be a successful financial PPV for the company.

I would love to see another 6 man Hell In A Cell match, but besides from the the PG era debate about it being watered down, I think the other reason it probably wouldn't happen is the fact of how hard it was to follow, even last year with the DX vs Legacy match, there were things happening off screen, and the way they solved it, have a member locked out of the cage. Now look at how it was with 6 men, albeit it almost been 10 years since they have some new camera angles and can have more camera men ringside and all over the ring. So while as great it would be to see again, I don't think 6 men will be in the cage again, although, depending on who wins, I can see the WWE title HIAC match being more than a 1 on 1 match.
