Steptoe and Son isn't very funny, but it lasted a long time and it is pretty iconic. It also went to America as Sandford and Son, which I think was reasonably well received. The Prisoner is one of the most innovative science fiction shows of all time, but it isn't a sitcom in the slightest, so it probably shouldn't be here at all. The better show? The Prisoner, but the vote has to go to the only sitcom here in a sitcom tournament.

Umm....The Prisoner? Amazing, amazing, AMAZING show. Brilliant from start to finish. But not even slightly a sitcom.

It's still getting my vote. I've never seen Steptoe and frankly I don't need to, if The Prisoner is going to be in this tournament, I'll be backing it about as far as humanly possible. Easily one of the most intelligent television shows ever created, so much so that millions of people were in a rage after the finale because they were too stupid to understand the message that Patrick McGoohan had just delivered to them. Easily one of the most important television shows of all time, and EASILY deserving to win here. Even if it isn't a sitcom, it's bloody brilliant. I'll be backing it to the end i imagine.

Why did you nominate this show if it wasn't a sitcom (http://forums.wrestlezone.com/showpost.php?p=1407737&postcount=6)? If we include this show in the tournament, then we also have to include House, which was removed by IrishCanadian25 because enough people complained about it not being a sitcom. And, if we include House and The Prisoner, then we're going to have to include The Sopranos and The Wire out of respect (they are, after all, considered by many critics and fans to be the two greatest shows to ever on television).

I've only seen clips of Steptoe and Son, but, I know that it's actually a sitcom. Thus, it gets my vote by default (although, I do no want to check out The Prisoner, xfearbefore...maybe it can go far in a TV Drama Tournament).

I was probably just joking around, didn't realize a single nomination by myself carried so much power! We'll have to find a way to get it removed now I suppose. 'Tis a shame, because I would have loved the chance to introduce younger posters on here to the great show that was The Prisoner.

I'd love to see a TV Drama tournament. HBO would likely dominate the nominations with the likes of The Sopranos, The Wire, and Oz (still an underrated show). Lost would have to be in there as well, though you're probably too cool to enjoy something so esoteric. :p

I'm going with Steptoe and Son because it's acutally a sitcom, and if it's what Sanford and Son is based off of, which Tasty said, then it's pretty solid and definetly deserving of my vote. The other show sounds rather interesting though, I'll have to read about it on Wikipedia.
