3d TV?

Fuel The Fire

Getting Noticed By Management
Is a 3d tv over rated? Is it worth getting?
I personally think that the fucking 3d shit is getting old and it is vastly overrated.

Uk 3D TV adverts show clips of Avatar, the only 3D film worth buying. At the end of the ad it says: ''Avatar currently unavailable in 3D''.

Didn't we all just buy new HD televisions a few years ago? Who's running out for this now?

I'm not paying to have to wear glasses while i watch my television thank you very much, especially when they're like £100 a pair.

I don't even watch standard definition TV so why would i bother with 3D?

We had a rep in from Samsung the other day, and he tried so hard to get me enthusiastic about 3D TV but sadly, he was doomed to fail before he started.

I watch all TV on the internet, don't really understand why everyone doesn't do the same.

What is this now, a near 60 year old gimmick? 3D is a fail, it's been a fail everytime the industry has tried to introduce it and it's going to fail again. No-one is going to sit at home with the glasses on looking like a twat. I've refused to let the cinemas rip me off with this shit and I'm not now going to spend more on a TV after I just bought a great one.

You don't have to wear 3D glasses. That's the appeal.

Not saying this is a good idea; I think it's shit except for the 3DS.

They try 3D every couple of years, they had Spy Kids 3D a couple of years ago and Jaws 3D as well so it just seems that it's going to disappear and reappear in a couple of years.

You don't need to have the "HEY I'M COMING AT YOU" stuff that 3-D was known for. Have you forgotten Avatar? 3-D created an increase in the depth of field. They've already done some programs with 3-D TV as well. There was a football game broadcast in 3-D as well as a baseball game.

I only saw one movie in 3D, Final Destination, and I felt nauseous afterwards.

They need to find a way to make it so people don't feel sick when they watch it.

Actually, I stand to be corrected, but I'm pretty sure you do still have to wear the glasses. I was checking out a 3D TV in a store the other day, and they had the glasses there to wear to get the effect.

To make it worse, I think they're specific to the particular TV you have. In other words, if you have a 3D TV and a friend of yours does too, you cannot bring your glasses to his house, or vice versa, for it to work. Unlike Avatar in the theatres, where the glasses were all the same, the TV's apparently are different than this somehow.

I agree with an earlier poster, I'm not wearing glasses around my house just to watch TV, just for an effect that is over-rated anyway. Give me a good quality HD plasma, LCD, or LED TV, and that's perfectly fine.

This version of 3D is the nuts. Like DC says, it's all about depth of field rather than zOMGz SOMETHINS COMIN 4 MEEE. you feel like you're looking through a tank or something.

Very cool, but not for everyday events IMO

Actually, there are 3D TVs that don't require glasses.
