2012 Presidential Candidate Debate

The 1-2-3 Killam

Mid-Card Championship Winner

I'm guessing Sly won't be joining in tonight for the usual Republican bashing, as it's his birthday, so let's make it a good thread for him to come back to. The first round of 2012 Presidential debates are tonight, in just about [EDIT: LOTS OF MINUTES] actually. You can watch it online on whichever awful media provider you fancy. (or click the really big image I've provided for you, if you're lazy)

CNN has come out with this really fun tool that basically lets you share clips from the debate in real time. You should check it out:

The playoffs shaping up, Shelby Miller's first career start for the Cardinals, this debate and not to mention my curiosity of this new Main Event show. Tonigh's gonna have a lot a channel flipping.

John Kerry talking about the errors Obama as made, in relation to debates and campaigning, in the past four years. He's looking entirely orange tonight...

I do feel for Obama in tonight's debate. He's lost a lot of support since he ran through the 2008 election fairly effortlessly. He had to take care of a lot of shit coming into office, and nobody would have looked good handed that job. Think about how Bill Clinton was called terrible throughout his entire presidency; years later we can look at the stats and realize how much good he did for the economy and foreign affairs during his terms.

Not that it matters. Even if Romney gets ALL the available swing votes, he's shot himself in the foot so many times I'll be surprised if he can even limp into the debates tonight.

Why are you watching that drivel? You do realize it's the same damn rhetoric with different cool-aid right?

Because I don't hate Obama, and I have a general interest in who the next president of the United States is going to be. Also, because I'll take any opportunity afforded to me, to make fun of stupid things Mitt Romney says. And there should be no shortage of them tonight.

Why is Mitt Romney using the same debate prep that John McCain used? Wouldn't you look at the McCain campaign (sounds marketable enough, right?), and probably...I don't know, steer the opposite direction?

There's a chance Romney wins tonight actually. That being said, even if he does he still has to be perfect to have a puncher's chance in 5 weeks.

So you're for the indefinite detention of Americans right? That what you're saying because obama signed that into law.

Edit: Not that Romney's any better.

Actually, this is the only site I have gone to that still retains a very positive opinion of Clinton. Everywhere else I see more and more Liberals turning on him.

The indefinite detention bill is the single worst thing Obama has done in his four years. But you have to ask yourself: how did such a thing make it that far in the first place? If the United States congress passed the bill, you know the pressure on his administration to sign it was going to be astronomical. He ever had reservations about the misuse of power it could bring. I'm not justifying the bill, I'm just saying that there are a lot more people to blame, and a much deeper rooted evil going on here.

If you followed anything I said earlier in the election, you'll also know I wasn't cheering for Obama, and I'm not a party voter. I was all for Ron Paul and his views on limited government and ending the fed, even though he was running under the Republican flag. Now that Paul isn't even an option, and I'm not a huge fan of Gary Johnson (though he's gained in popularity this election), Obama seems the better choice of the two. By about 3000 miles.

I've been thinking about ever since that political quiz got posted in the bar room, and I had something around 95% similarity in opinion with his views. So I probably should like him, but the LNC was kind of a joke this year, and most libertarians will tell you they're not a fan of Gary Johnson. It's probably because they feel Ron Paul abandoned them to run for a "real party". Can you blame him? I'd rather be associated with the GOP than be labeled as the candidate for the "crazy people".

Edit: Oh wait...
