I said a couple days ago it wouldn't be smart for the Lakers to blow up their roster, but the more I think about it, the more sense it makes. Bynum probably isn't the guy to build around long term, with his injury history, inconsistent effort, and intermittent attitude problems. Sure, he's still young, but the latter two should have been weeded out by now, especially with role models like Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and Phil Jackson around him. With the news coming out that Howard desperately wants to be traded, it just makes sense to pull the trigger on Gasol and Bynum for Howard...maybe Anderson too. Kobe and Howard is a hell of a combination. Retain Sessions, as he's a perfectly serviceable point guard. Find a small forward on the market or in a low impact trade, because you sure haven't got one now. If they don't also net Anderson in that deal, then power forward will become a position of need, as will stocking the bench. They'll have a ton of holes to fill, but it's LA and they'll have the room for it. Getting one last title in while Kobe still can is probably the best priority. After that, traditional tanking and drafting will follow, with no doubt in my mind that LA will find and produce another superstar Hall of Fame talent in due time.
