Poor X, well I know how it's like to lose a great QB to a knee injury.

Well with the Patriots officially done, the NFL season is now wide open. The Chargers and Colts both lose at home in their openers (WTF???), and the NFC simply looks dominant. We might be seeing the change and shift back to the NFC to finally end the AFC's decade of dominance.

With the Pats done, it's a wide open race in the AFC. The Steelers actually look like the team to beat, granted it's week one and granted they faced the abysmal Texans, but they still looked damn impressive. Of course my preseason predictions are all but shot now thanks to a questionable hit on Tom Brady.

As far as the NFC is concerned, boy oh boy does teh NFC West, sans the Redskins, look mighty impressive, 3 playoff teams coming from that division barring injury. The NFC West looks as terrible as expected. I figured the Hawks would play much harder then they did yesterday, but don't look now, the Cards could be the team to beat.

Should be an interesting season. After this coming weekend, we'll have a better idea of the pretenders and contenders. Most of the season is laid out in the first four weeks, barring miracle runs at the end. The playoff contenders will emerge from the pack here.

One thing is for certain, the Bengals fucking suck.

There are many things i learned this weekend. Yes Shocky the Bengals to suck. How does Lewis still have a job?

Anyways, Roethlisberger looked efficient as always. I am going out on the limb and say he will lead the NFL is efficiency rating ( passer rating) since Brady is injured ( real Limb.... I know :headscratch:)

I realized the Browns are vastly overrated, I realized Romo still makes dumb decisions even though he played rather well. I realized the Eagles are good when McNabb plays well even though they played the abysmal Rams. The Saints are using Bush correctly, and the Panthers looked good even without Smith. I realized the 49'ers still suck, but Gore is healthy. Realized Forte is a beast, realized Braylon Edwards is a whiny bitch, and i realized Favre has some ability.

I believe the Jags are going to fail miserably and prove that Garrard was a one yr wonder.

All in all after a weekend full of football i realized Roethlisberger improves his decision making yr after yr.

o yeah for the guy who said the Steelers defense is unproven look at last yrs stats, and previous stats. Basically the same defense from 05, minus a player or two.

The NFC West is still wide open even though the division sucks like hell. Arizona only beat the Niners because we gave them the game with turnovers. They scored a total of 10 points off 5 turnovers. A good team would have scored at least 4 touchdowns but the Cards only managed 1 so that gives me hope that our defense will perservere as long as our offense does not make mistakes and fumble the ball away. If they were to play the game without error, they would have easily beat Arizona. But it was not meant to be. The Steelers look like the team to be beat in the AFC but I am gonna wait 4 weeks before making that statement because the Chragers started slow last season too and look what happened.

TheOneBigWill's 'take' on Week 1 in the N.F.L.

Okay, I'm gonna run down the list of games that happened in week one, then add what I feel regarding them. Surprisingly I seen most of the games thanks to the Sunday Ticket and the 30 minute quick shows. Some games I didn't watch because I wasn't interested, so I'll be going off of stats alone. And general opinion throughout, obviously.

Washington Redskins @ New York Giants: Final NYG, 16-7

I can safely say that for as crappy as the match-up was, this being the first game of the Official Season I was happy as could be to watch it. My general opinion is that the New York Giants are good, defensively, but throughout the season they'll wear out and everything will come to rest on the shoulders of the offense. The same offense that worked very well in the first half, but basically disappeared in the second.

Eli Manning finished the day with a rushing TD, no passing TDs and an INT. I won't jump on the "Eli sucks" bandwagon just yet, but playing against a Washington Defense that looked extremely crappy throughout.. I'll reserve my judgment for when Eli faces either Philly or Dallas.

Brandon Jacobs is simply put.. overrated. Now before I get killed for that, honestly he's nothing more (to me) than a fullback with the ability to break out one or two big runs. He pulled down 116 yds. on 21 carries with NO TDs.

If the Giants are going to do anything this year, it's going to be placed completely and solely on the shoulders of Plaxico Burress, who recorded 10 rec. for 133 yds but without a TD. Going into this game, I'm more than sure Washington knew he was their main target and practically their only target. That much is fact based on the fact that he caught 8 more passes than anyone else and 1 more pass than everyone else, combined.

Now, on the flip side of things, the Washington Redskins who brought in a new Head Coach and fully backing Jason Campbell. Well, after going 15/27 for 133 and a TD.. I'd say those are 'mirror' numbers compared to how unable the Skins were to move the ball at all in the first half of that game. I know it's way to early to call out Colt Brennan, but I'm saying it right now.. before the end of the year.. he'll be their starter.

Now is all of this Campbell's fault? I'd say no. It's the lack of talent surrounding him. First, the running game with Clinton Portis isn't exactly 'great' and Portis had only 84 yds. on 23 carries without a TD. (that comes to about a 3.7 average which isn't awful, but it could and should be better for a QB still learning)

Add to that, your main two WRs are Santana Moss (5 rec. for 37 yds. and a TD) and Antwan Randle El (7 rec. for 73 yds.) it isn't looking to be a bright outlook. The one thing I was most disappointed with by the Redskins and Coach Zorn, is the inability to find their (arguably) best target offensively.. Chris Cooley. (1 rec. 7 yds.) Until they can find him more often, they won't win. Plain and simple.

Detroit Lions @ Atlanta Falcons: Final ATL, 34-21

Normally the big story here would be the debut of rookie starting QB, Matt Ryan (who went an impressive 9/13 for 161 yds. and a TD) however Ryan's debut was NOT the main story played out, but instead it was the under-study of L.T., 'The Burner' Mr. Turner.. who ran an outstanding 220 yds. on 22 carries for 2 TDs.

Now I'm gonna say that Michael Turner could have a very good season, his best stat wise (obviously since he's now a starter) but this will be his best game, period. The thing some people are already overlooking isn't how good, or 'great' Turner is or could be.. but instead how shit Detroit's Defense IS.

Turner will be crutched on all season, and just like teams are now doing with Minnesota, teams who play Atlanta will put 8 in the box and force Ryan to prove his impressive start was anything but fluke-worthy numbers thanks to an outstanding opening running game.

Ryan's WR core is somewhat skeptical to me. Roddy White had his best season, a breakout season last year but this is a guy that's a 4 yr pro. His first 2 yrs. were flukes and busts. He barely topped out in those seasons for over 950 yds. rec. and he combined for 3 TDs collectively. He's no longer a 'secret' and that's apparent by his 2 rec. for 54 yds. and no TDs in this game. (even WITH Turner burning the field on the ground)

Michael Jenkins is the opposite to that, but in the pre-season I heard he lost his starting position. Well, he had one catch for 62 yds. and a TD, Ryan's first pass and only TD of the game. Here is (in my opinion) another major bust. Jenkins in 4 seasons (prior to week one) had roughly somewhere around 1,590 yds and 14 TDs total. (7 came in 06) I think this is going to be a proving year for Jenkins, and he could prove to be a deep threat target, but if he's covered well enough, I doubt he'll be much of anything, other than released come year's end.

On the flip side of all of this, Detroit and the Jon Kitna (I guarantee another 10 win season) Lion's. Well, after their first loss I'm inclined to believe it'll be a 10 loss season.

Jon Kitna is about AS overrated as Carson Palmer. (sorry Shocky) Kitna puts up great fantasy numbers, but only because he has to throw anywhere from 30-50 times in a game, just because of how they're always constantly behind.

Roy Williams is in a contract season, and was 3 rec. for 47 yds. and a TD. I think he'll have a great season, but I doubt he'll stay in DET. Calvin Johnson had 7 rec. for 107 but was held without a TD. likewise, I think he'll have a good season (barring injury) but I don't know if Johnson will be a great lone star. If Williams leaves next season, Johnson would be alone.

I don't exactly think the offense is the problem, I mean I said Kitna was overrated but I guess the true question is.. was he ever underrated to begin with? Until Detroit can fix their gaps, holes and major issues that allowed the Burner to torch them.. the Lions won't do anything but cash in on another possible top 5 WR in next year's Draft. LOL

Cincinnati Bengals @ Baltimore Ravens: Final BAL, 17-10

This was the biggest joke of a game ever on the line-up for Sunday's games. I didn't see it, but I seen the highlights. And I'm looking at the stats. I don't know where to start, but I guess I'll go with the Ravens.

Joe Flacco went 15/29 for 129 and was better, statistically than Carson Palmer in every catagory, except neither was able to throw a TD. The real story for the Ravens would probably be their fullback, Le'Ron McClain who bumbled ahead for 86 yds. on 19 carries, and 2 rec. for 24 yds. He helped gain them the final first down, to run the clock out. (taken from nfl.com roughly)

Willis McGahee did NOT play, and it's apparent that injuries will cause McGahee to likely not repeat last year's stats, or impact that he helped bring to the Ravens. (be it as it may) However, Ray Rice is likely going to be the equal RB behind McGahee and now apparently McClain, and Rice rushed for 64 yds. on 22 carries with 3 rec. for 19 yds. Not exactly great numbers, but likely only going to get better.

I won't even bother with the Ravens WR core, because they don't have much. Mason had 4 rec. for 44 yds. and is their top guy, and Todd Heap (at one time a top 5 TE) barely did anything.

On the flip side, like I said earlier Carson Palmer is the most overrated QB there is, in the entire N.F.L. This game alone proves that fact beyond anything else words could say. Palmer was suppose to have his way against a team that offensively shouldn't of did anything, and Defensively is only aging with time. (Not taking anything away from a good-great D though, in the Ravens) Palmer went 9/24 for 94 yds. and an INT.

I don't know if it's Palmer's fault alone, or if it's his WRs just not getting open. Houshmandzadeh (yeah, I looked to spell that) went 3 rec. for 44 yds. (24 was his long) and Chad Eighty Five went for only 1 rec. landing him 22 yds..

Perry had the bulk of the carries on the ground, with 19 and he rushed for 42 yds. and no TDs. Watson had 2 carries for 13 yds. and no TDs. The lone TD the Bengals did have was (from what it says) a fumble recovery returned for a TD.

Looking deeper into the stats, the Bengals were also 2 for 13 on 3rd down tries. Anyone knows that if you're going to win a football game, you gotta convert more than twice on 3rd down, especially when you have 13 attempts.

I'm sure as the season goes on the Bengals will work out a couple victories that'll manage to piss a few people off because they'll be fluke worthy. Just like I'm sure Chad Joh.. oh, sorry.. Ohco Cinco will end up finding his way into the media again, bitching and moaning about wanting OUT of Cincinnati.

I feel sorry for Bengal fans, simply because the team on paper has a pretty effective looking offense, minus a solid run game, but when the games start, Palmer just.. I don't know, dumbs himself down I guess.

Seattle Seahawks @ Buffalo Bills: Final BUF, 34-10

This was a game I didn't think would happen the way it did, but in the end wasn't as surprised at the outcome considering the situation. On paper the Seattle Seahawks had one star WR starting, and the rest were either unknowns, or bench warmers who didn't understand they'd need to step it up. Seattle dropped Alexander in the off-season, then couldn't capitalize on any type of solid run game.

Jones had 13 carries for 45 yds., Weaver had 2 carries for 9 yds. and their assumed starting RB, Morris, had 6 carries for 31 yds. and ended up leaving the game without returning. None of them had any TDs, and collectively the 3 of them couldn't even top 100. That's not a positive, when they really needed to crutch to a solid run game with the lack of options at WR.

Hasselbeck went 17/41 (wow) for 190 yds. a TD, and an INT.. his main target was Nate Burleson, who caught 5 rec. for 60 yds. and a TD, but left the game also and would later be revealed to have a season ending injury.

Hasselbeck's other targets were Carlson who had 4 rec. for 52 yds., Payne who had 2 rec. for 25 yds. and a few other random people with 2 rec. each, for 19 yds and 17 yds.

The bottomline here is, Seattle will become the new Miami Dolphins of this year, if they don't find some free agent WRs to replace their bench warmers who're being thrust into starting roles.

On the flip side, anything that could've went right for the Bills, DID.

Trent Edwards had a very solid outting, starting the season off right with 19/30 for 215 yds. and a TD. His favorite target was no surprise, as Lee Evans hauled in 4 rec. for 102 yds but without a TD. Robert Royal brought down 6 rec. for 52 yds. and a TD.

The hilarious story of the game was the punter, Brian Moorman, who faked the punt and passed to Denney for a 19 yd. TD.. and Parrish's 63 yd. punt return for a TD pretty much wrapped things up for the Bills. Rushing wise, Lynch had 18 carries for 76 yds. and a TD.

I can't say I'm on the bandwagon to believing the Bills will do anything, especially since they're in the division they're in, however with the injury to Tom Brady, their chances just got a whole hell of a lot better.

New York Jets @ Miami Dolphins: Final NYJ, 20-14

Brett Favre's first official game as a Jet, and he almost loses. Seriously. While he was about as perfect as could be, the team as a whole still almost lost this game.

Favre went 15/22 for 194 yds. and 2 TDs, however it should be pointed out the 2nd of those two was a chuck and prey as Favre was going down, that just luckily landed in Stuckey's arms for a TD, instead of a Defender for an INT. If anyone finds that impressive, then they'd of shit themselves with the finish to the Carolina/San Diego game. (more on that later)

Favre's new Jennings is Jerricho Cotchery, who brought in 3 rec. for 80 yds. and a TD. outside of that, the other WRs just caught 1-2 passes, for random gains of 30 plus yds and under. The one positive it looks the Jets have gained with Favre at center, is their run game will improve with Thomas Jones.

Jones had 22 carries for 101 yds. and a TD, very strong solid first game for Jones, to bounce back from a disappointing season last year.

On the flip side, the former Jet QB, Chad Pennington wanted to get revenge on the team that cut him. Pennington almost had that revenge play right into his throwing arm as well, but just like most of his passes.. it came up a little short.

Pennington went 26/43 for 251 yds. 2 TDs and an INT. While most of those stats are equal or better than Favre's, the one minus is the INT.. and it unfortunately was a big one, as it was the final play by Pennington, into the endzone to either win or lose the game.. and unfortunately for the Dolphins, they're starting off just like last year, 0-1.

I don't know who the main guy is calling the plays, but what I do know is whomever it is, he LOVES TEs. Fasano and Martin seen the most action by Pennington, Fasano had 8 rec. for 84 yds. and a TD, while Martin had 4 rec. for 53 yds. and a TD.

My overall take on this game was it was exciting to see it come down to the wire, but at the same time a bit disappointing for a Jets team that spent so much in the off-season to bulk up and gear down, that they came so close to losing to the worst team in all of the N.F.L. last year. That's not the best way to start, but 1-0 is, and that's what the Jets did accomplish.

I don't think the Dolphins will repeat, infact I believe the Dolphins will at least pick up a possible 5-6 wins this year. Likely not a lot, but Pennington will help lead them a bit better than random insertions have done in years gone by. On the flip side, the Jets become the unofficial team in their division since Brady's injury, but I wouldn't be too quick to jump on them.. especially with (going back to it yet again) them almost losing this game.

Kansas City Chiefs @ New England Patriots: Final NE, 17-10

Since my favorite team didn't play until the 3p.m. games, I had a hard time deciding on what game to watch at Noon. I ended up starting with this one, and wasn't disappointed when I seen Brady go down in the first quarter, on the same play that saw Randy Moss haul in a nice catch, only to fumble it away. Brady left, would not return, and we'd all later find out he's officially done for the season.

Brady went 7/11 for 76 yds and had a rocky start, against a Defense he should've never fell to, to begin with. His replacement, Matt Cassel came in and immediately showed he wasn't afraid as he found Moss a few times, and for a TD. Cassel finished the day 13/18 for 152 yds. and a TD. Not bad for a kid who as it's being repeated over and over, didn't start a game since High School in 1999.

New England's running game is horrible behind Maroney, in my opinion, but great behind Morris. Ironically, Maroney finished the day with 10 carries and 51 yds., while Morris finished with 10 carries, 53 yds and a TD. (anything you can do, I can do better I guess)

Moss had 6 rec. for 116 and a TD. Welker had 6 rec. for 51 yds and under those two, it was just a disappointing day to be any other WR. Morris (RB) had 5 rec. for 34 yds.

The Pat's Defense isn't what it used to be, and the fact that the hapless Chiefs stuck around in this game is evidence of that. From nfl.com they claim the Pats pulled in 4 sacks and an INT. I do know one of those sacks was also what put Croyle on the bench and out for the game, along with Brady. So, on the flip side of things..

Croyle couldn't hardly lead a fly to a zapper. He was 11/19 for 88 yds, but overall didn't do a lot. His day ended on a hard hit that dislocated his shoulder, and that brought in Huard (who in my opinion is the better option to start of the two) and Huard had 8/12 for 118 yds. a TD and an INT.

When Croyle was still in, their top target at Wide-out was seemingly nowhere to be found, yet when Huard took the snaps, Bowe suddenly lit up the Pat's back-field.

Bowe finished his day with 5 rec. for 49 yds and a TD, while other WRs Darling had 1 rec for 68 yds, and Tony Gonzalez had 6 rec. for 55 yds. I think these numbers along with this offense will improve with Huard, as Croyle to me just looked uncomfortable.

Larry Johnson isn't what he used to be either, as he finished the day with 22 carries for 74 yds and 1 rec. for 12 yds.

My overall thoughts on this game were shock more than anything, when Brady was revealed to NOT be Superman and actually end up with an injury that wasn't just something bogus to put his name on a list during the week.

The irony to everything is, both teams lost their starting QB, and while the Pats still have every OTHER weapon needed to make a strong run for the Superbowl, even with Cassel.. I think the Chiefs gained more because Huard runs their offense better. What happens with either team under different QBs will have to wait to see until week 2.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New Orleans Saints: Final NO, 24-20

You want a division game that was hard hitting and rough? This was it, point blank! Each team traded getting into the endzone, and each team traded hard hits.

Tampa Bay, the team that won the division last year starts their journey on trying to end the would-be "last year's last place is this year's first place" oddity. Unfortunately, they started their season if anything proving it'll continue through this year.

Jeff Garcia, the one QB complaining the most throughout the off-season about wanting a long-term deal, ends up going 24/41 for 221 yds. a TD and an INT. He looked shaky at best, and ended up getting injured apparently. I didn't see the game, except through highlights and from what I heard through a friend, but what I do know is Garcia isn't starting next week due to injury.. but don't tell Garcia that, he feels it's anything but.

Graham had 91 yds. on 10 carries, which is not bad at all and why they didn't lean more on Graham is beyond me. Dunn had 9 carries for 54 yds, but neither RB had a TD.

Galloway lead the WRs with 6 rec. for 56 yds, however it was Hiliard who hauled in the lone TD as well as 45 yds. total on 6 rec. The Bucs offense just didn't seem impressive, not like it was last year anyways. The Tampa Defense was somewhat effective, earning an INT returned for a TD, but not good enough to stop the high-powered offense of the Saints.

Which leads us to the flip side.

Drew Brees went 23/32 for 343 yds, 3 TDs and an INT. Those numbers scare me for a team in my team's division, but the sad thing is, that's kinda an every-game stat for Brees. So it's nothing new.

The rookie (I think he's a rookie) Thomas had 10 carries for 52 yds, as Bush had 14 carries for 51 yds. Neither scored any rushing TDs, but it was Bush who electrified the crowd with 8 rec. for 112 yds. and a TD. Also earning his role in NO, Shockey had 6 rec. for 54 yds.

Focusing on the actual Wide-outs in NO, Colston had only 3 rec. for 26 yds.. while Henderson had a lone 84 yd bomb that went for a TD, and Patten also had a 39 yd TD.

When looking at both teams, I'd say they'd both be better served if they could just combine their strengths. The Bucs are dominating on Defense, but can't stay that way forever if the offense doesn't pick up it's share, while the Saints are high-powered and explosive on offense, but that's solely because they have to be.. their Defense gives up anything and everything.

A lot of people are claiming New Orleans is the team to beat in that division, I wouldn't argue hard, but I will argue it some, especially since I'm a Panther fan.

St. Louis Rams @ Philadelphia Eagles: Final PHI, 38-3

This game was flat out embarassing for St. Louis. While he wasn't Palmer, Marc Bugler didn't exactly have that much better of a day.

Bulger went 14/26 for 158 yds, without any INTs or TDs. While their running game couldn't get out of first gear. Jackson had 14 carries for 40 yds. And their top receiver ended up being the TE, McMichael who brought in 5 rec. for 77 yds. Meanwhile, Torry Holt (without Bruce opposite) had 1 rec. for 9 yds. Nothing went right for St. Louis, and it showed.

On the flip side, we begin once again with a very strong and powerful Eagles offense that'll likely lose it's starting QB in roughly 5 weeks. They always seem to. But for now, we sit and collectively "awe" at the numbers he puts up.

McNabb was 21/33 for 361 yds. and 3 TDs. He collectively gave three of his WRs 100 yd games, and not a single one was originally meant to be a starting WR.

Westbrook did what he does best, and that's collect all-purpose yds. He rushed 19 times for 91 yds and a TD, while he had 2 rec. for a single yard, however it also went for a TD.

L.J. Smith was missed last year, but found himself starting early to make-up for it. 5 rec. for 39 yds and a TD, and finally as I said, DeSean Jackson (rookie) had 6 rec. for 106, Greg Lewis had 5 rec. for 104 and Hank Baskett had 2 rec. for 102 and a TD, that TD being a 90 yard scamper.

I'd like to say the Eagles are going to be some type of team to beat, but until McNabb can prove he isn't injury prone, and until the Eagles get out of the division they're in, I just can't do that. They'll make a playoff run and by the looks of things, (once again short of McInjury) they'll make them. The Rams on the other hand are likely looking at a top 5 Draft pick, unless they can figure out why their offense isn't clicking. (here's a hint, you need another good WR to opposite your aging vet.)

Houston Texans @ Pittsburgh Steelers: Final PIT, 38-17

Well, what can I say. We go from one embarassment to another. Pittsburgh ran all over the Texans, literally.

Now I can point out that Big Ben Roethlisberger went 13/14 for 137 yds and 2 TDs without a pick. I can point out that arguably he is the best QB in the league right now, and I can point out that he was by far the best QB on the field Sunday.. but I won't. Why? Because he didn't have to be 'the best' when he had Fast Willie Parker.

Parker carried 25 times for 138 yds and 3 TDs. Originally there were vicious rumors of Parker's numbers being cut and his playing time being dropped. I think he took offense to that, as a result, I doubt those rumors are still around. His under-study, Mendenhall came in to clean up with 10 carries for 28 yds.

WR wise we seen Ward return to form with 6 rec. for 76 yds and 2 TDs, while the quick Holmes was held to only 2 rec. for 19 yds. I doubt it stays this way through the season, but I also don't think week two against the hapless Browns Defense that doesn't know the meaning of the word "stop" when it comes to run defense is going to be seeing many passing attempts either.

On the flip side, Houston didn't get anything going, until the first unit of the Steelers went to the showers.

Matt Schaub went 25/33 for 202 a TD and 2 INTs, while Steve Slaton had 13 carries for 43 yds with starter Green only having 5 carries for 28 yds.

The Texan's WR core had Andre Johnson pull down 10 rec. for 112 yds., but gave the lone TD to Kevin Walter on one of 3 rec. for 41 yds. It needs to be noted that most of these stats were likely brought in during the 4th Quarter, when the first-unit of the Steelers quit playing. 14 of the 17 points scored by the Texans came in the 4th Quarter.

I think Pittsburgh is the Rodney Dangerfield of the A.F.C., they just get ZERO respect. Colts this, Patriots that. Brady's gone, Manning lost, and Big Ben is sitting pretty at 1-0, with only 1 incomplete pass and a team built around him that can run over your ass in snow or sunshine. Have fun with seeing Pittsburgh going to the Superbowl.

Jacksonville Jaquars @ Tennessee Titans: Final TEN, 17-10

What's to say here? I didn't see the game, nor did I see many highlights (outside of Vince Young getting injured) but from the stats I can pretty much sum up opinions.

Jacksonville begins the season with a loss, and some might be questioning why David Garrard is off to such a bad start. Well, let's look at that. Garrard finished the day, 23/35 for 215 yds. a TD and 2 INTs. In the highlight package(s) I've seen, he looked very rushed and uncomfortable.

I can tell you right now, the two main reasons he sucked on Sunday was because A.) Their run game didn't go beyond 50 yds. collectively, and B.) Their receiving core isn't exactly star-studded.

Taylor had 9 carries for 18 yds. while Jones-Drew had 5 carries for 13 yds. In a game that was decided by 7 points, there is no reason these two shouldn't of been rushed more. Del-Rio must've been insane to think he had to throw 35 times. Of course you can also chalk this up to a division game and all of those are always highly contested.

Matt Jones hauled in 6 rec. for 80 yds, while none of the other receivers really even showed up.

On the flip side of things, Vince Young was just as, if not worse in the uncomfortable/shaky department.

Young went 12/22 for 110 yds, a TD and 2 INTs. He also left the game injured, and wouldn't return. That saw Collins replace him, and finish the day 2/2 for 65 yds. The big story in Tennessee is how they're becoming the new Denver. It seems every year they run all over Jacksonville, when no other team seemingly can.. and it also seems each year they develop a new rushing weapon.

While LenDale White may of had 15 carries for 40 yds. and a TD, it was Johnson who had an equal amount of carries, for double the yds. He finished with 93 yds.

Meanwhile, the next gen Mike Vick's favorite target was, shocker-shocker, a TE.. but not Crumpler. LOL It was Bo Scaife, who brought down 6 rec. for 105 yds. (albeit a huge chunk of those yds came from Collins) The TN. Defense looked impressive as well, as Finnegan collected both INTs.

My personal opinion on this subject is that even if the Colts somehow manage to start off 0-2, they'll still win the division, because Tennessee isn't ready, and Jacksonville seems to have forgotten how to run stop, and run the ball.

Dallas Cowboys @ Cleveland Browns: Final DAL, 28-10

The expectations for the Cleveland Browns have never been higher, and already the Cleveland area are collectively sighing. While it's only week one, the fact is if Cleveland wants to believe they're a good enough team to make it through the playoffs to any type of Superbowl, they need to beat the Superbowl caliber teams.. not get rolled by them.

Derek Anderson went 11/24 for 114 yds. and 1 TD, which in the end was about as good as you could ask, especially for him to not throw up an INT. But in the end, this offense was suppose to be more high-powered, not less.

A large part of why they weren't effective through the air, is because they couldn't pick anything up on the ground. Jamal Lewis went 62 yds. on 13 carries, while Derek Anderson sucked it up 4 times for 24 yds. Lewis had I believe one perfect rumble and outside of that, just a couple small chunks here and there.

I don't know if Donte' Stallworth played or not, but if he did, he didn't record a single stat. Meanwhile, Braylon Edwards only caught 2 rec. for 14 yds. The big receiver of the day was Kellen Winslow, who hauled in 5 rec. for 47 yds. and a TD. Outside of that, every other receiver caught 1 rec. each, ranging anywhere from 18 yds. on down.

On the flip side, I'd say Dallas was about as strong as they'll be all season, with the upside being Adam Jones getting back into a groove and helping that Defense stiffen up.

Tony Romo went 24/32 for 320 yds. a TD and an INT. pretty impressive for a guy who had one stud TE & WR, an up-and-coming wide out, and the rest being bench warmers just loving being on the field without the word "pre" being in front of "season".

Jason Witten hauled in 6 rec. for 96 yds, but it was Owens on 5 rec. for 87 yds. and a TD and Crayton on 6 rec. for 82 yds. who really opened the field up. I think a large reason for that, outside of the natural coverage Owens normally gets is because of their run game..

Marion Barber (the 3rd) went 80 yds. and 2 TDs on 16 carries, as well as 3 rec. for 21 yds. While the understudy, Felix Jones, went 62 yds. and a TD on 9 carries. Even the 3rd stringer, Tashard Choice broke out 5 carries for 26 yds.

In the end, the final score wasn't even close. Cleveland's lone TD was more thanks in part to Adam "Don't call me Pacman" Jones, due to an interference call in the endzone, than anything else. Dallas and Cleveland were 7-7 in the 2nd Quarter, before Dallas remembered how to turn it up and went 28-7 on Cleveland before the 4th Quarter when Cleveland apparently felt a FG was better than going for the TD to bring it closer.

My opinion is this, Dallas will be a strong team to compete with, but until McNabb gets injured and the Giants Defense slows down, they'll always have a slight bit of trouble in that division. Meanwhile, Cleveland has Pittsburgh to contend with, and by the looks of their week one performance, I'd say Cleveland is behind the 8 ball already. I still think they'll bring in around 6-7 wins this season though, but I doubt Cleveland makes the playoffs. Then again, the landscape of the A.F.C. has changed, maybe a 7-9, 8-8 team does make the playoffs this year.

Carolina Panthers @ San Diego Chargers: Final CAR, 26-24

Game of the Week! I have to say that, because not only was it my Favorite team picking up the victory, but the way it happened went completely down to 2 seconds left, and the very last play of the game.

Phillip Rivers had a very impressive game on paper, going 17/27 for 217 yds. and 3 TDs, but even as impressive as that is, it was all for not because their running game couldn't get off to the start it normally does.

Tomlinson had 21 carries for 97 yds. as well as 3 rec. for 15 yds., but the truth is those rushing yards aren't even close to how much Carolina held their run game in check for 3 and a half Quarters. It wasn't until the final minutes in the final Quarter that L.T. started to chunk off first down runs.

Gates hauled in 4 rec. for 61 yds. and a TD, but left parts of the game with injuries. Meanwhile, their WR core had Chambers lone rec. being 44 yds. on a blown coverage for a TD, and Jackson finding 3 rec. for 47 yds. The slight spotlight of the day on an unknown was the rookie, Mike Tolbert who I believe is replacing Neal. Tolbert had 3 rec. for 35 yds. and Carolina barely kept a guy on him.

On the flip side of the ball, Carolina was Steve Smith-less and just hoping to win one of their first two Smith-less games. Mission Accomplished for now.

Jake Delhomme, coming off Tommy-John surgery definately showed that he was back, as he went 23/41 for 247 yds. and a TD, without an INT. While the completed passes compared to the incomplete ones weren't the best, I think it's more of a statement that he went out and threw 41 times without any setbacks or pain. (that the media knows of, anyways)

It was also impressive going over 200 yds. passing, without your main target and overall one of the best wide-outs in the entire league. To make up for it, Delhomme found 7 different targets, but none greater than the unknown Dante' Rosario who brought in 7 rec. for 96 yds. and the game-winning, last second(s) TD.

Muhammad was happy to be back in Carolina, bringing in 56 yds. on 6 rec. while D.J. Hackett hauled in 48 yds. on 5 rec. (37 of those yds. came on a slant route) meanwhile last year's 'bust' Dwayne Jarrett had 2 rec. for 36 yds.

I think a large reason why Delhomme was able to open up the field for the pass, was thanks in part to our new 1-2 punch at RB. DeAngelo Williams had 18 carries for 87 yds while Jonathan Stewart had 10 carries for 53 yds.

The backdrop to this game was how easily Carolina moved the ball up and down the field against this San Diego Defense. During the first half, Williams easily seemed to pick up the first down on the ground, and when he couldn't, it was Delhomme and somewhat luck passes that just happened to land in the right spots, at the right time. On the first drive they had, they marched all the way down the field to the one yd. line, but couldn't punch it in, and ultimately turned the ball over.

In the end, it was Chris Harris stripping a fumble that Gamble caught before it ever hit the ground and returned to the house, that kept Carolina in the game. While the Chargers didn't seem to show up until the last parts of the game and when it should've counted the most, during the final Quarter.

However the one thing the former Superbowl contenders were known for, was making last minute comebacks to bring in the victory, consider this the first one on the road back to the Superbowl?

In my opinion, the Chargers will have trouble with the Broncos, but might likely find a wildcard spot in the end. Meanwhile Carolina has more offensive potential, but a harder path to follow, as the Saints and Bucs will both give them trouble, while the Eagles, Cowboys and even Giants will look to lock up both wildcard spots.

If Carolina wants in the playoffs, they might just have to find a way to win the division, breaking the 'curse' (would it be considered a curse?) of 'worst to first'.

Arizona Cardinals @ San Francisco 49ers: Final ARI, 23-13

It always seems these two start their seasons against one another. This is one game I normally always watch (not sure why) but this time I didn't actually catch anything, not even the highlights. So I'm just going off nfl.com's stats.

Kurt Warner went 19/30 for 197 yds. and a TD, without Leinart touching the ball once. Seems like the Cardinals feel the best way to repeat past success, is to go back to the past. So much for their future, apparently.

The 'Edge' rushed 26 times for 100 yds. even, but apparently didn't even go beyond 10 yds. on a single rush. Meanwhile the new-comer to help the 'Edge', Tim Hightower carried 8 times for 13 yds. and the lone RB TD. Hightower also brought down 21 yds on 3 rec.

Speaking of pulling down throws, Boldin brought down 8 rec. for 82 yds, but apparently not a single one came before the 2nd half. While Fitzgerald had 3 rec. for 31 yds. and the lone WR TD. The rookie in the slot was Steve Breaston who caught 3 rec. for 54 yds.

On the flip side of the ball..

J.T. O'Sullivan didn't have the best start to the season, going 14/20 for 195 yds. and an INT. If that INT was a TD, then it would've had 49er fans up in arms over how great their offense suddenly turned out to be.

The one plus side of this offense is their power running game, lead by Frank Gore who had 14 carries for 96 yds. and a TD. He also caught the ball 4 times for 55 yds. Gore will apparently be backed up by former Panther's starter, DeShaun Foster, who had 4 carries for 11 yds.

The wide-out core which was suppose to be lead by new-comer and vet., Isaac Bruce, turned out to be lead by TE Davis as he had 3 rec. for 51 yds, while Johnson hauled in 3 rec. for 48 yds. Bruce started and played the whole game (from what I understand) but didn't bring down a single pass.

The true story of this game was on the defensive side of the ball, as apparently the Cardinal D helped the Niner's to turn the ball over 5 times which is what likely truly lead to the Cards first victory of the season.

I doubt either team makes the playoffs as the balance of power is shifting from the A.F.C. to the N.F.C. and it looks like the days of 7-9 and 8-8 teams bumbling into the playoffs are long gone.

Chicago Bears @ Indianapolis Colts: Final CHI, 29-13

Another game I didn't catch until the final minutes of the last Quarter, and I think I fell into the huge amount of surprised individuals who tuned in to see the Bears rolling over the Colts.

Kyle Orton went 13/21 for 150 yds., but it wasn't from his hand that lead this team to victory. Unless you consider it was his hand that handed the ball off to the true game leader..

Matt Forte, the rookie RB carried 23 times for 123 yds. and a TD. Also catching 3 times for 18 yds. Forte seems to be the answer the Bears offense was searching for, but the one thing people have to remember is the team they ran up against.

The 'Other' D. Clark caught 2 rec. for 46 yds. while Greg Olsen had 2 as well, for 36 yds. It seems the TEs will play a big role in the Bears passing game, while the CB turned WR Devin Hester had 1 rec. for 7 yds. Brandon Lloyd was the best WR on the field, hauling in 2 rec. for 26 yds. nice.

On the flip side, anything that could go wrong for this Colts team, seemingly did.

Peyton Manning came back, apparently a bit rusty going 30/49 for 257 yds and a single TD, but not even Manning-like numbers could help bring this team back once they lost their stud RB for the night.

Joseph Addai had 12 carries for 44 yds and 1 rec. for 3 yds, but ended up leaving the game due to a head injury and wouldn't return. Once Addai left, it was very apparent how much they didn't trust their back-ups, as combined Hart and Rhodes carried 3 times for 9 yds. Rhodes did manage to bring down 4 rec. for 30 yds. though.

The WR core was lead by Reggie Wayne who brought down 10 rec. for 86 yds and a TD, while the returning Marvin Harrison had 8 rec. for 76 yds. and Gonzalez had 5 rec. for 48 yds.

In the end, I'd chalk this up to just a bad first outting for the Colts. Manning was coming off an injury that left him unable to practice, while Harrison was returning from surgery (I believe) and finally, as I said a team isn't going to do much without a running game. The keys to victory here were the QB on the Bears side did NOT turn the ball over. Let's see how long that lasts.

I predict the Colts still making the playoffs, even if they start out 0-2, which isn't very likely. Meanwhile the Bears will fall short of the playoffs, unless they can win a division that still looks to be lead by Green Bay.

Minnesota Vikings @ Green Bay Packers: Final GB, 24-19

The Aaron Rodgers era begins now, and from the looks of it.. it has the Packer fans screaming "Brett who?" LOL

Rodgers went 18/22 for 178 yds. and a TD against the top ranked N.F.L. Defense, yeah so much for that top ranked thing. Rodgers also carried 8 different times for 35 yds and another TD.

Speaking of the ground game, Ryan Grant went 92 yds. on 12 carries while Jackson had 7 carries for 12 yds.

Finally, the passing game saw one nice (luck?) catch by Greg Jennings of 56 yds, helping him finish the day with 5 rec. for 91 total, while Driver hauled in 4 rec. for 38. That was about the highlight for the Packers air-attack.

On the flip side, the Minnesota Vikings had the chance to show the world how much they were Superbowl bound, with their "impressive" new Offense.

That offense lead by Tarvaris Jackson, who went 16/35 for 178 yds a TD and an INT. Now, while I won't completely toss Jackson under the bus because some of those passes were the WRs inability to catch anything. The fact is I'm awaiting the fans chants of "We Want Booty" before the season's up.

Berrian had 3 rec. for 38 yds, while it was Rice who hauled in 2 rec. for 31 yds. and a TD. The ball was pretty evenly passed around the team for amounts of 49 yds to 21 yds, but in the end the real offense was in the hands of Mr. "All-Day".

Peterson, who went 103 yds and a TD on 19 carries also had 1 rec. for 11 yds, but even All-Day couldn't go All-Night, when the Packers stayed one step ahead.

I didn't see a lot of this game, which is why I'm not commenting much on most of the stats, but what I will say is this. Green Bay seems to be in good hands with Aaron Rodgers, barring an injury which Rodgers seems prone to gaining. Meanwhile, Minnesota may have spent a fortune on that Defense, but until they find more than one solid WR and a reliable QB, their RB won't go for the 2,000 yds. he predicted in the off-season.

I see Green Bay fighting for the top spot in the North against the Bears, and unless Minnesota rallies and figures out how to move the ball on the offense, other than through their RB.. it's going to be a long day Sunday when the Colts come to town.

Denver Broncos @ Oakland Raiders: Final DEN, 41-14

The final game of the week one schedule, and what a way to cap off the first week of solid action. I have to admit, I quit watching this game after the 3rd Quarter when the Broncos were up 27-0.

Jay Cutler went 16/24 for 300 yds. and 2 TDs in an offense missing it's top WR, but gaining a possible new one.

Eddie Royal went 146 yds and a TD on 9 rec, torching both D-Hall and the Raiders all over the field all night long. While the TE Scheffler had a 72 yd. rumble. (I don't remember this) Jackson had 1 rec. for 48 yds. and a TD, and Stokley had 2 rec. for 25 yds.

The former Offense that produced 1,000 yd. backs seems to hit a wall, as Selvin Young only had 36 yds. and a TD on 7 carries, while Hall had 10 carries for 61 yds. They had collectively 6 different individuals carry the ball. Cutler pulled it down 5 times for 9 yds, while Royal capped off a great start with 2 carries for 9 yds as well.

On the flip side, it's simply a joke and while the stats may look remotely impressive, it was likely stats built against the Broncos 3rd string Defense.

Russell went 17/26 for 180 yds and 2 TDs (both in the 4th Quarter) which seemed evenly split between WRs.

Griffith had 3 rec. for 39 yds, while Lelie had 3 rec. for 37 yds and 1 TD, along with Curry who had 2 rec. for 18 yds. and the other TD.

The big splash in the Draft was Darren McFadden, who's going to be the biggest 'bust' of the year in an offense that isn't going anywhere. McFadden had 9 carries for 46 yds, while Fargas still remained the main guy, going 18 times for 97 yds.

Overall, the Raiders might very well be next year's top pick. I'd be shocked if this team won more than 3 times this season. This team, plain and simple, is a mess. The Coaching staff is at each other's throats, while the owner wants the Head Coach to quit. LOL Nevermind, I'd be shocked if this team didn't flat-out go 0-16.

As for the Broncos, a team missing their star Wide-out and finding a diamond in the rough with Royal, granted it was against the Raiders, but still.. 146 yds. rec. you'd think any Defense would catch a clue. I think the Broncos will be the team to beat in that division, but we'll see next week when they take on the Chargers.

Overall Thoughts: In closing, this took me about 3-4 days to write up. LOL I'm a bit drained and don't think I could add much more. The top story that'll cover the week, that's already covered the week, is Tom Brady being out for the season.

The underlining stories are Nate Burleson being out for the rest of the season, Vince Young apparently being depressed and the Titan-Nation wanting him out?? (he was boo'd, at home) And the amount of QBs under pressure right now.

They've put so much protection and rules in place to protect the QBs, that this is basically what I'd consider 'karma' coming back on the league for intentionally trying to lessen the hard-hitting game of Football, to a passable version of 'touch'.

I'm now going to give my personal opinion on the N.F.C. & A.F.C. "Power Rankings" through a top 6 that I feel are the best teams in each league after Week One.

A.F.C.:

1. Pittsburgh Steelers: They might of only had a slim challenge in the Houston Texans, but it wasn't exactly about who they faced so much as what they did. Everything "right" would be the shortest way to sum up exactly what they did.

Parker rushed for more Touchdowns he had in all of last season, in this opening game. Big Ben only threw one incomplete pass. And roughly put, their Defense held firm and made the Texans' life a living hell.

With the landscape changing, and with the amount of issues that've happened after Week One, the one team seemingly uneffected was the Pittsburgh Steelers. So with that, they're #1 on my Power Rankings in the A.F.C. and I'd be willing to bet hard money on feeling they won't be giving it up, any time soon. (short of an unexpected loss to Cleveland, which just doesn't seem possible, but isn't improbable.)

2. Denver Broncos: Much like Pittsburgh, Denver had everything right in this game, however not as dominate. When you look at the numbers, the only thing Denver really did was have a great passing game. Their rushing stats, point blank, suck. For a team that was so dominate in producing good to great backs, they've just hit a wall. Now I'm not saying they didn't run well collectively, they had over 100 yds. rushing with 6 combine guys, but they used to have that with just one.

Eddie Royal was the sole individual who truly carried this team, but obviously that was thanks in part to Jay Cutler getting him the ball. The Broncos are in 2nd place because they didn't just win, they put a dominating rout on the Raiders.. a team that if anything, should've been at least strong Defensively. Whether they hold onto the #2 spot is all in how they handle the Chargers.

3. Buffalo Bills: The 3rd straight team who seemingly had an easy opponent, the one difference is, noone expected the Bills to do what they did. And Seattle wasn't suppose to be an easy opponent.

The Bills are the best team in thier division right now, especially with Brady out and the Jets barely winning against the Dolphins. I can't say come the end of the season I'll still be saying that, but for right now the one thing helping the Bills is this.. when your Punter is scoring more TDs than starting QBs in the league (*cough* Palmer *cough*) it's a statement.

4. Indianapolis Colts: Even in a losing effort, the Colts pull down the 4th spot in my Power Rankings because they still have all their offensive weapons and the only thing they need to fix is their Defense.

Peyton Manning had a rough game, and with the loss of Addai, it made them strictly passing only, which the Bears held strong. Add on to the fact that the Colts have never had a strong Defense, and it shouldn't be too surprising. If the Colts drop 2 in a row, then you'll have cause to worry.. but until then, just chalk it up to being off to a slow start.

5. New England Patriots: The only reason the Pats are still ranked above the Jets, is because even with Brady out.. the fact is, Matt Cassel lead this team to a victory. People wanna claim Cassel will instantly be their downfall, but the fact is Brady didn't put any points on the board before he left. Cassel will now have 1 full week of practice with the 1st string squad, which is 1 week more than he has had.

I think he'll do just fine behind that powerful unit of players, and the Pat's D will come to play to help out their Offense. In the end, I don't see the Pats disappearing that quickly, and I'd even be willing to say the Jets are going to get a rude awakening come Sunday. We'll all just have to wait and see, but mark my words.. Cassel wouldn't of been the back-up to Tom Brady, in the Patriot's offense if the Head Coach didn't think he was worth it. So don't be surprised with Cassel comes out and dominates the shell-shocked Jets.

6. New York Jets: Favre is the sole reason they're on this chart to me. I could care less what type of 'Legend' Favre is or will be, but he helped electrify their offense against the Dolphins. Favre got lucky on one chuck and pray pass, but overall he'll get control the longer he's there.

New York paid a lot of money on that Defense, and this coming week is going to be when they need to step up and make a statement, more than ever. If the Jets are going to be worth watching in Jan. then they need to make a stop on the Pats in Sept.

On the Bubble:

7. San Diego Chargers: A lot of people predicted the Chargers to be a possible Superbowl contender. Either Carolina is more powerful than anyone expected, or the Chargers were too cocky in thinking they'd be a cake-walk and got surprised.

As much as I'm a Panther fan, I'd be willing to bet that a team as powerful as the Chargers, they just attempted over-looking to the Broncos. Well, I doubt they'll wanna fall 0-2, especially with that second loss coming to the team that'd go up in the division.. so I look for the Chargers to make a comeback, and do anything but overlook their week two opponents.

N.F.C.:

1. Philadelphia Eagles: When McNabb is healthy, this team is on fire. When he's injured, it shows. The Eagles are my first place N.F.C. team because they held the Rams to 3 points. That's the lowest amount of points scored in all of week one, and the Rams should have a better offense than some of the other teams who scored more. So that says a lot for this Philly D.

I think that the Eagles will be the team to beat in the N.F.C. as long as McNabb and company stay healthy. The other factor is their WR core. Curtis and Brown were both injured, and neither is expected to be back soon.. but don't tell the Eagles that, because they still found three collective 100 yd. receivers. Week two has arguably the best two N.F.C. teams facing off in a match-up that's "can't miss".

2. Dallas Cowboys: In a tie-in with what I just said, the Eagles and Cowboys are 1 and 2, respectively. The only reason Dallas isn't 1st, is because they don't have all the keys on Defense in place just yet. Adam Jones hasn't played in over a year, so for as good as he is.. that's a lot of rush you have to wear off.

Owens might be great, but sooner or later they'll need to make Crayton and Witten equal to him, if they don't want to become one sided in passing the ball. Barber is going to be incredible on the ground, and Romo is arguably the best QB in the N.F.C., but again.. the one thing the 'Boys will need to learn, if they wanna win anything important, is how to win in Jan. For now, with it being Sept., they're still a top 2 team.

3. Chicago Bears: Fluke or not, Chicago came out of nowhere to upset and shock the Colts. That's impressive, regardless of what it's called. Chicago has Carolina in Week two, which means they'll have to pass the ball most likely. So how good Chicago is, will depend on how reliable Kyle Orton will become.

The one thing Chicago has and will likely always be, is Defensively unstoppable. As long as they don't make too many offensive mistakes, their Defense should hold them nicely enough, to keep them in the top ranked teams. Again, the Colts were a great team offensively, for them to hold to only 13 points. They'll be facing a lesser talented Offensive core in Carolina, but a stronger Defensive unit with Peppers, Gamble and Harris as well. So we'll see what happens.

4. New Orleans Saints: It might of been a close game, but it was also a division game. The Saints will be without Colston for about roughly 4-6 weeks, but they still have Brees who's capable of tossing up 300 yds. a game, and with Shockey recently added in the off-season, this unit is one of the most electric Offenses in the N.F.C.

The only thing holding the Saints back, is the lack-luster Defensive unit they have. Not exactly the best, but as long as they can make key plays at right times, they don't have to be. They're 4th on my list for now, but how they do against Washington will decide if they fall or not.

5. New York Giants: The Superbowl Champions still get no respect, especially from me. They won 16-7 over a Redskins team that could barely move the ball. No reason why Eli shouldn't of ran up the numbers against that Defense either, but instead the only thing he did was at another INT to his list.

For the second week in a row, the Giants have another opponent that seems to have not found a way to do anything, in the St. Louis Rams. The Giants, even in a winning effort likely won't gain a position in my Power Rankings, short of the above 4 teams all sucking majorly. But how well they play will depend on whether they don't fall, even in a winning effort.

6. Carolina Panthers: The final team to round out the top 6 could've really went to any number of other teams. Which you'll see in my "on the bubble" as well. The reason I picked Carolina though, is because out of the final 3 teams (counting the 2 in the bubble) Carolina was the one team who defeated a worthy opponent, without their top star in Steve Smith.

If Carolina can defeat a Superbowl potential team, without it's main major player, how good do you think they'll be when he returns to them in Week Three? For now though, the Panthers are out of the frying pan and into the fire as they have the Chicago Bears.

I have to admit, I'm worried about what will happen with this game, but if Carolina can upset the Bears, once again without Steve Smith, then I think they'll unofficially become the sleeper team in the entire N.F.C.. Again, if they can win without their star, how good will they be with him?

On the Bubble:

7. Green Bay Packers: Aaron Rodgers was impressive, but not perfect. The entire first Quarter, the Packers offense moved backwards more than forwards it seemed. Furthermore, it was against a team many thought could've been Superbowl bound, barring their QB situation.. but I think MN. proved they aren't ready just yet.

Meanwhile, Rodgers was good, Jennings was great and Grant was on par against one of the best run-defensive units in the N.F.L.. the Packers have the Lions, who got steam-rolled by Atlanta, so I doubt GB has much to worry about, but it will be Rodger's first official start on the road, so who knows.

8. Atlanta Falcons: The Falcons surprised a lot of people with just how good 'The Burner' was, but how good the Falcons are will depend on what the outcome of their Week Two match-up against the Bucs will be.

I'm not sold on thinking Atlanta is a great team just yet, but if they can put up the same type of running numbers against a LOT better Defensive unit in Tampa Bay, then I might start to take more notice.

I'll try to do a weekly review each week. So for now, if you managed to read ALL of this.. what the shit is wrong with you? I assume fans of selective teams will home-in on what I wrote about them. But overall, it's FOOTBALL SEASON AGAIN!!!!

The blame doesn't go to Carson Palmer, this is my benefit (or misfortune) of getting to watch the games. The blame lies solely on the offensive line. This offensive line is the saddest, softest excuse for an O-Line I think the Bengals have ever had. But this is what happens when in the course of 2 plus seasons Richie Braham is injured and forced to retire, the Bengals let Eric Steinbach, Eric Fucking Steinbach walk all while franchise Tagging Justin Smith (WTF was that move) and subsequently releasing Willie Anderson, the franchise, walk this off season. That's 3 big studs that are no longer on this team and replaced by a bunch of soft pansies.

The fault doesn't lie with Palmer, he's getting his head knocked off back there. His line is crumbling in front of him, and his timing is off. You can't perform a five step drop when the D-Line is crashing through the O-Line in 2 steps. Timing patterns are off, Chad and TJ don't have enough time to get open. Chris Perry was a terrible decision to keep as opposed to Rudi Johnson. I wouldn't blame Palmer, I would blame the ineptitude of upper management and making cuts for the sake of money as opposed for the sake of the team. It's the same old shit in Cincinnati again, and it's a shame that Carson Palmer's career is going to go the way of David Klingler.

Well, the blame in Detroit can certainly go to Jon Kitna. I generally am a QB apologist, and with the well known problems my Lions have had with the offensive line for decades, I too drank the "it's not the QB's fault" kool-aid. I supported Rodney Peete, then Eric Kramer, blamed the OL instead of Scott Mitchell, loved Charlie Batch's heart, and gave Joey Harrington far too many chances. Now, its Jon Kitna. He should simply not be a starting QB. The Lions fell behind 21-0 in the first quarter yesterday, fought their way back all the way, and in the 4th quarter, even took the lead, 25-24. From that point on, Kitna ensured the Lions snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. 3 INTs on his next six passes, two returned for TDs, and the Packers scored a TD on the drive that resulted from the other one. I could blame the offensive line for that too, I suppose. Hell, Detroit should make me their starting Right Tackle, I spend more time defending their QBs than they do...No more. I get what you are saying about Carson Palmer, but, ultimately, whether we like it or not, football games are won or lost based on the performance of the QB. It is the single most important position on the football field. QBs have the most responsibility, and get most of the credit, and most of the blame. Teams with good QBs and weak offensive lines can still be successful. Especially when they have the skill position talent that the Bengals theoretically have. The offensive line should get the blame for giving up sacks, as it is their responsibility, taking too many penalties, etc, but ultimately, the QB is responsible for the QB's play. I am a big believer in accepting personal responsibility for your mistakes, and not shuffling off the blame on others. Yet, I realized that I have been shuffling the blame for the Lions QBs on the OL, coaches, etc. Everyone other than the QB. I am not going to do that anymore. If Carson Palmer throws an INT, ultimately, he is the one that threw the ball, not the OL. He is the one that either threw it too high, too low, led his receiver too far in a direction, or whatever. I know football is not quite that simple, but, to pretend Palmer bears no responsibility for his own struggles does him a disservice.

Im not real sure how to go about this so im just gonna do rambling thoughts in reveiw each week. and possibly start posting picks on fridays or satrudays. Im a very non commital guy, you know.

DIG my NorCal teams winning over the weekend, with the 49ers coming back in Seattle to SEIZE sole possesion of second place in the NFC west, and the Raiders riding Darren Mcfadden to 163 on 21 carries. Now I take not a whole ton of faith in either victory, since the cheifs may very well be the worst team in the leaugue talent wise, and the Niners ALWAYS beat Seattle. But I will say, The Mike Martz offense is looking like its beginning to click well, and could be rolling full steam in the coming weeks. A good scheme with some fast players can carry you far in this division. And Patrick Willis is staking his claim as possibly the best middle linebacker in football.

My number one sleeper of the year, Jonathan Stewart, rocked the bears for 2 tds, and looked VERY good again this week. Jay Cutler is also looking fucking amazing. After two games, I would say he looks to have the best overall arm in the leaugue, when considering accuracy and velocity. He made some insane throws this weekend. And Justin Tuck is an absolute monster. That guy is fucking incredible. size, speed, strength, athleticism. The Giants overall have looked VERY good so far. I think they could sneak up on people once again.

I take The Cowboys tonight over the birds. I still dont see whats so special about the Eagles that everyone else seems to see. The Cowboys on the other hand DOMINATED the Browns last week, who gave one of the AFCs best teams a good fight last night.

Norcal no disrespect but we DO NOT always beat Seattle. In fact, they have beaten us 5 of the last 8 times we have played. They swept us last year and two years before that. The win yesterday was big for 2 reasons.
1. Niners actually moved the ball....their offense actually was clicking and we were scoring points off 30-40 yard passes. Of course we still have endzone problems but that can be fixed. We did score a total of 3 touchdowns-2 of them on offense. Imagine what we can do against Detroit.
2. Niners actually moved the ball on third down. We had 3rd and 14 and 3rd and 9 at different points of the game and we converted and please before any of you Niner haters say Seattle was injured...that is false...all of Seattle's defensive "stars" were playing and all of them were going full force. So that means our offense did good against a respectable defense.
3. Our defense beat Matt Hassleback. yes he did not have his recievers but it was not the receivers fault for the two picks that he had. The only injuries Seattle has are at Wide Reciever. Everyone else as far as I know are healthy. Their offensive line was healthy so Hassleback had no excuses to to throw two picks. The Niners simply in the 2nd half outplayed Seattle and were able to do just that in Overtime.

Okay, due to some unforseen issues I won't be able to repeat my Review as I did last week, but I hopefully will be able to do something like I did the last time, on a more regular basis throughout the season. So, until then.. I'm gonna give some random thoughts on the moments around the League from Week Two.

New England Patriots: Matt Cassel may not have started a game since High School, but if anyone thought that meant the Pats were dead in the water then they aren't really Football fans. Just because one part of the machine breaks down, doesn't always mean the entire thing quits working.

The Jets all in all showed just how lack-luster they are, even with the retooling they've done throughout the off-season. Brett Favre is also finding out that this isn't the N.F.C., and his second Division Rival/Game isn't like it used to be in the North of the N.F.C. He can't just sling it and expect to be praised and win.

Meanwhile, once again it assumes me that people felt because Cassel was in and Brady was out, that it meant the Pats Defense would somehow just.. "stop working". With a 19-10 victory, the Pats now must gear up for the challenge of the Bills as their top threat in that division, but the earliest that'll be is Week 10.. still plenty of time for more things to go right or wrong between the entire division.

New York Giants: All I've seen in reports on N.F.L. Network and E.S.P.N. are that they Giants feel they get no respect. Well, maybe they would if they beat someone who mattered. The Rams have scored a total of 16 pts this season, and the Redskins offense just barely (but finally) showed up against New Orleans. I think the Giants will gain respect little by little, as long as they can show they don't make mistakes and continue grinding it out on all aspects of the game.

The Giants don't have a real 'true' opponent until Week 8, against Pittsburgh. Before that they have the Bengals, Seahawks, 49ers and Browns as well as a bye week I believe. I'm not saying the Browns, Bengals or Niners won't give them a challenge.. but the Giants are solid on both sides of the ball, and each of those teams have huge problems on one or the other.. so the first real challenge will be Week 8 against Pittsburgh.

Indianapolis Colts: I think I speak for a lot of people in saying.. When did Peyton and Eli switch bodies and teams?! Seriously, Eli (albeit against hapless teams) has been great stat-wise this season.. and (correct me if I'm wrong) Peyton is topping more INTs than TDs. Sure he's still not 100% so he says, and Jeff Saturday isn't at top health.. nor is Dallas Clark.

But what excuse does that give Joseph Addai? Manning, even hurt, is still threatening enough to cause teams to back the fuck up field. I'll chalk it up to playing the Bears/Vikings great run-stopping Defense for now.. and I don't think Week 3 will be any step-out with a Division rival in the Jags, but who knows.

I just think the Colts are slipping majorly, and right now.. I'd be hard pressed to say they look like a Playoff team. I know that's major words and their division sucks some major ass which could allow them to limp in.. but still.

Denver Broncos/San Diego Chargers: Wow. I don't think it sums it up any better than that. All I know is, I sure wouldn't wanna be Ed Hochuli right now, especially in the Western part of the country. That game was amazing and it's a shame it had to really come down to that call.. but in some defense, the game wasn't exactly decided ON that call.

Sure, if the fumble went through without a whistle, the Chargers recovered.. Game Over. But, shit happens and that's a tough break, however the fact remains the Broncos still had to punch it in, and when they did, they went for a win/lose ending that really in my opinion could've saved Hochuli's butt considering the 50/50% of win or lose in going for 2 in that situation. The game came down to an unfortunate ordeal.. but ended on a chance play that could've just as easily won or lost the game for the Broncos.

The Chargers will forever hate Hochuli just as much as the Raider's hate the 'tuck' rule, but you as a Football player go out and play until the END of a game.. not until a shit call or blown call happens. Deflatted or not, you play until the final whistle blows. No way around it.

Aaron Rodgers: First official road game as a starter, and against a Division Rival. I don't care how badly the Lions suck.. Division games are always harder, regardless of the talent (or lack there of) a team has. Rodgers proved he could be more than capable, once again, to come back from a :wtf: moment that was the Lions coming back to lead 25-24, after trailing hugely.

But it wasn't all Rodgers who did rally the team back, now was it. As I recall, two INTs returned for TDs helped the Pack blow up in the final 5 minutes of the game. Never the less, Rodger's had over 300 yds. passing and 3 TDs without an INT.. and he's 2-0, whereas his Legendary afterthought isn't. Rodgers biggest test comes in Week 3, against the arguable best team in the N.F.C., Dallas.

Freak Events: Be-it the Hurricane resulting in neither the Texans or Ravens playing, or the freak aftermath winds that caused the Browns, Bengals, Steelers and Titans to have more than a little fun on the field.. this is something I kinda (sadly) love about the N.F.L.

It shows you what Teams truly have what it takes to overcome freakish events and random weather that noone could predict. The Titans are somewhat solid behind Collins and could challenge for a playoff spot, but a suicidal and depressive Young could drag the team down mentally through off-the-field related issues.

The Browns are in a downward spiral and I don't know if last year was a complete fluke or not, but they sure aren't making many doubters wrong on believing it was. I have nothing bad to say against Pittsburgh once again, but Ben is apparently injured and that should be watched closely.

Finally, the Bengals are just in a funk right now I think. I watched that wind game and they had sure-points taken from them due to the unnature weather. I don't know what to say more than from what I hear in reports of the Bengals just having major issues in general. Stuff like T.J. and Chad are causing mental off-the-field issues and Carson needs to step up and be a leader, instead it's the bad influences of T.J., Chad and the arrests or personal issues that're dragging this franchise under.

I won't pull the trigger on the Bengals just yet, but an 0-2 hole in THAT division with the Steelers playing like they are, and the A.F.C. being what it is.. 0-2 is almost a death sentence.. you're practically on the row, just waiting for the final day.

Other A.F.C. Related news and notes: The Chiefs will turn to 3rd string QB, Tyler Thigpen in their Week 3 match-up against Atlanta. I don't know if this will be good or bad, because Thigpen could show he's "Matt Ryan-like" from Week 1, when he's actually "Matt Ryan-like" from Week 2.

The drama between Lane Kiffin and the Raider's owner is enough to make me sick. All I can ever seem to hear regarding the Raider's franchise is how the owner is truly to run the team, and only have a Head Coach as a figure head to take the blame for when it loses. If I was Kiffin, I'd just pack up and leave.. why wait to be fired when everyone knows it's coming.. it's like trying to find cover in a cornfield when a tornado is coming directly at you.. pointless and useless.

Buffalo looked somewhat iffy against Jacksonville. 'Experts' claim they looked solid all the way around, but I watched that game and I seen an offense that made explosive plays from time to time, and didn't turn the ball over.. but I also seen an offense that didn't make ENOUGH explosive plays to rival that of a Pittsburgh, Indy, New England, or Denver.. Buffalo might make it to the playoffs, but they won't win anything once it comes down to the final elite teams.

I have more to come.. in a moment...

Okay, here we go again..

Seattle Seahawks: This team is dropping WRs like they're part of a plague. They signed Koren Robinson and traded draft picks to Denver to pick up Keary Colbert. All in all, with what they have you'd think they just signed Randy Moss and T.O. collectively.. but I just feel bad for Seattle right now. I said it before, and I'll say it again.. they're gonna be really hard pressed to pick up over 5 wins this season.. I just have that feeling.

Philadelphia Eagles: DeSean Jackson is a moron. He might be explosive and he might become something great in this sport, but overall he's an idiot. Celebrating a TD shouldn't be something that's "must-do" until you know you did it. I only wish I could hear Andy Reid chew his ass out.

A week ago I felt that the Eagles would solidly defeat the Cowboys, because I thought the Eagles had the Defense to stand up to them. I was admittedly WRONG! Now I'm unsure if the Eagles can do anything, because Monday they looked like they at-will gave up points just to lose. Dallas couldn't do anything wrong, and not even Jessica Simpson could help the Eagles cover Romo to Owens. I don't believe Philly comes out on the winning side of things with the in-state rivalry and as a result drops to 1-2.

Carolina Panthers: What more can I say about my team then simply put.. I'm impressed and glad to see it happening. Two weeks withOUT our top WR, Smith, and two victories in the book. Noone could've seen that coming and I bet a lot of people were shocked it happened over the teams it happened against.

But before thoughts of post-season should be mentioned, I feel the need to be the realistic speaker in this conversation. Carolina was clutch in both games, no doubt.. but they had any type of luck on their side for as far as luck in games is concerned. And luck only goes so far, before it runs out. Carolina going 2-0 without their (arguable) best player is something this team truly needed to boost morale and confidence.

The last thing we need now, is to go 0-1 WITH one of the best Wide-outs in the league coming back to us.. especially against a team in Minnesota that's 0-2.

2-1 isn't a bad record, but let's face it.. doing what Carolina has done.. 2-1 would feel almost like 1-2, or worse just because of all they did with practically everyone thinking they couldn't, only to not do a damn thing when everyone felt they should.

All in all, I think we look strong. Our passing game will definately improve with Smith back, and the 1-2 punch of Stewart and Williams is going to be good, but I wouldn't be shocked if Stewart quickly unseated Williams from the starting spot.. especially against harder-hitting Defenses. Williams rushed all over the Bears in the 2nd half of their game, punching it in twice and literally steamrolling down field. Williams wasn't strong enough, or big enough to do that.. I predict if ANY running game is had in Minnesota, it'll be behind the mighty wheels of Jonathan Stewart.

Minnesota Vikings: Speaking of the team we'll be facing, the biggest news to come out of MN. is the change at QB. Gus Frerotte will replace Jackson, and is arguably the better option for the postion, but the question is will he be good enough to help when they need him?

As a Carolina Panther fan, and being realistic toward all their opponent's.. Minnesota shouldn't be taken lightly, and an 0-2 team is more deadly than a 2-0 team sometimes. Peterson will either have a hit-or-miss day, because Carolina's defense is good at stopping MAJOR runs.. but if Gus hits a couple targets early to loosen up the front box of defenders.. it'll be a long day for the Panther D.

In the long run, I think Gus will adjust and be what they need for the position. They don't need a homerun hitting QB, they just need someone who can get the ball dumped off to open up the run better for a back that's already more than capable of carrying a team even without a QB.

Arizona Cardinals/N.F.C. West: I think the biggest mystery surrounding this team is 'Are they for real?' Because it seems they always have explosive games, but apparently haven't started 2-0 in some time.. and furthermore, haven't looked solid in just as long.

Kurt Warner is leading this team, and you almost gotta feel sorry for Matt Leinart, almost. I think the Cards honestly make the playoffs, especially with Seattle being basically out for the season at WR.. and St. Louis not really even realizing Pre-Season is over.

I wouldn't sit on the Niners, but until they can reproduce more of the offense they had on Sunday.. they aren't a reliable team right now. One Week Wonders at best, with a great Defense.. AS LONG as the offense can keep them off the field long enough to rest.

New Orleans Saints: I have to question what curse the Redskins hold over Drew Brees because he hasn't won against Washington in a while, if at all. Is Marcus Colston really THAT much of their offense? And where the hell is anything that remotely looks like a Defense for that unit? I mean, the Redskins.. ran over you, and passed over you. Something's gotta change, or NO won't see a post season.

Matt Ryan: I admit, I laughed. I laughed hard when I seen him go something like 0-9 with 2 INTs against the Bucs early on.. but at the same time I feel sorry for him and that team, remotely. Why? Just because he's suppose to be their *New* Franchise QB and if he has too many more games like Sunday the people in Atlanta will be finding stray dogs just to attempt begging Vick back when he can return.. next year???

Final Thoughts: Another good week of action, but the entire thing was somewhat downplayed thanks to a Hurricane's aftermath and a bad call in Denver.

Some Games I'll be greatly looking forward to in Week Three are as follows.

Eagles/Steelers
Packers/Cowboys
Panthers/Vikings (of course)
Chargers/Jets
Colts/Jaguars
Saints/Broncos

My turn guys!!! Lets review how the entire NFL is doing.

1. Denver Broncos: They are hot right now having started the season 3-0. But to be honest, both of their past 2 wins have been by 1 and 2 points respectively. They have blown 18 point leads in both games. They need to avoid doing this if they want to be anywhere near successful. They play the Chiefs this sunday. Should be an easy game but in the NFL, you never know.
2. Kansas City Chiefs: They are just horrible. Down to a 3rd string Quarterback and just finding ways to lose.
3. Oakland Raiders: :lmao: The Raiders are horrible! Did you all see them blow that lead on sunday? :)
4. San Diego Chargers: Need to win tonight desperately.

1. Baltimore Ravens: They are 2-0 but they have beaten the Bengals and Browns, not really too good teams.
2. Cincinnati Bengals: Sure they played the Giants tough but come on, these are the Bengals. Their defense is horrible and their offensive line is breaking apart before our very eyes. I feel bad for Carson Palmer.
3. Cleveland Browns: I apologize Shocky. I was wrong. Browns are back to sucking.
4. Pittsburgh Steelers: They might lose Big Ben. Not good news for Steeler fans. But this division is not that strong to begin with.

1. Houston Texans: They are just as bad as I knew they would be.
2. Indianapolis Colts: Manning's line is breaking down before his and our very eyes. The Colts do not seem poised to win 12 games this year.
3. Jacksonville Jaguars: They managed to win one at Indy but they need to string a few more wins to get back in this divisional race.
4. Tennessee Titans: The Titans are the best team in this division at the moment and this division is usually a great one. The defense is strong and the offense is plausable.

1. Buffalo Bills: They actually have a shot at going 5-0 after getting past Oakland. They have Saint Louis on their schedule next and then another weak opponent before a bye week.
2. Miami Dolphins: Very good morale building win for them as they hammered the Pats at Foxboro.
3. New England Patriots: How far the mighty have fallen. Isn;t it funny that as soon as Brady went down, Xfearbefore stopped posting.
4. New York Jets: Brett Farve is only one man and not even he can save this train wreck of a team.

1. Arizona Cardinals: Did exactly what I knew they would do, lose at Washington.
2. Saint Louis Rams: The Rams suck, plain and simple.
3. San Francisco 49ers: The Niners are ranked 11th in offense and defense, dont believe me look it up. There you go for those who did not believe that the Niners have what it takes to win. Detroit sucks and all but still, a win is a win.
4. Seatte Seahawks: Everyone beats the Rams.

1. Chicago Bears: Are they a good team or a bad one? They have lost two straight games by 3 after having 10 point leads in the 4th quarter.
2. Detroit Lions: Someone fire Matt Millen. The Lions are horrible.
3. Green Bay Packers: Do not look too much into the Cowboys win over the Packers, remember the Boys swept the Giants last year and lost in the playoffs to them. Aaron Rodgers is doing well for Green Bay.
4. Minnesota Vikings: The team with no QB barely gets a win. Good for them. :lmao:

1. Atlanta Falcons: The Falcons have won 2 easy home games. They are hadrly what I would call a great team.
2. Carolina Panthers: I knew that they would slip up. They will recover next week against the Falcons.
3. New orleans Saints: The Saints are everything that I said they were, OVERRATED. Next week the Niners will play them tough and show them how a team game is played.
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The Bucs are surprising. Maybe, they can win after all.

Dallas Cowboys: They are good right now. We will see how good they are when December rolls around.
New York Giants: I am not impressed with the Giants. They have beaten 3 bad teams. NEXT
3. Philadelphia Eagles: The Eagles are only 3 minutes away from being perfect. They have played well in all their games.
4. Washington Redskins: The Skins have done well at home but can they win at Big D?

There you go, my NFL evaluations. I am not like the media. I am not in love with Brett Farve or the Dallas Cowboys. I go by the facts and how each team plays.

First off, Mr. Hayek why do you say "Isn't it funny that as soon as Brady goes down xfear stops posting?". I haven't posted regularly at this forum in monthes and monthes, I end up coming here about once a month on average. So to say I stopped coming here because of Brady's injury is pretty ridiculious, also considering I hadn't posted on here the week before that game even happened.

Second off, thank you Will. Finally someone realizes that just because Brady is out doesn't mean the Pats are done. Obviously this week against the Dolphins was a total collapse, but so what? It's fucking unbelievable how the entire sports media world jumps on the Pats like sharks because of this loss, calling them out as a mediocre team with a bad defense? That's unbelievable to me. WE'VE LOST 4 FUCKING GAMES IN THE LAST 2 YEARS +. Any other team would be hailed as the greatest franchise in NFL history for that kind of record, but no, the entire sports world just loves nothing more then to hate on the Patriots, it's like we're the Yankees of the late 90s or something. Don't hate us because we're successful. I mean jesus, this is the FIRST time we've been blown out in YEARS and all everyone can talk about is how mediocre we are. What about the fuckin Colts?! They've been shit so far in the first three games and you barely hear even a mention about them. It's just absurd to me.

The Pats I'm predicting will go 9-7 and make the playoffs. Will they go far in the playoffs? Probably not. But who thought in the middle of November 2001 when the Pats were 5-5 and had an unknown 6th round draft pick named Tom Brady at QB that that team would win the Super Bowl? No one. Football is the most unpredictable of all sports, so who knows where this season will lead us.

But hey, the one good thing out of the Brady injury? I can actually get my hands on a regular season game ticket for the first time in years!

The most glorious day in the history of Lions football has officially happened.

MATT MILLEN GOT FIRED!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much, this has been about 6 years too late, maybe we can get someone who recognizes talent and can have a decent draft. Now this by no means ensures that the Lions will win more than 4 games this year, but I now can actually look forward to the future. Hopefully Kitna gets hurt too, I don't know if I could handle being that excited about the Lions though. A move 6 years overdue, but it still feels great.

Well who didn't see that coming ten miles away? The man should've been fired years ago. Never in my life have I seen such poor draft choices as the Lions have made over the last 8 years. WR after WR after WR. They could've had Brian Westbrook or Osi (how the hell do you spell his last name?) but instead they have 30 first round wide recievers.

Now just get rid of that coach, actually have a defense that doesn't routinely give up 35+ points a game, and maybe they can be contenders in a year or two.

I know that you dont post a lot. I didnt mean it the way it sounded. My point is that the forums are not the same without me and you jibjabbing every week. I was just curious to what you thought of Brady's injury and I didnt get to hear about until 3 weeks after the fact. The Pats are still a decent team but as Slyfox once pointed out, a team is only as good as their QB takes them unless ur the 2001 Baltimore Ravens.

The Bills have done exceptionally well in their first 3 games and I fully expect them to win this division this season. The NFC West will go between the Niners and the Cards unless the Seahawks make a comeback. The AFC South is now in Titans control but the Jags could make a comeback as could the Colts. The AFC North belongs to the Steelers unless the Ravens say otherwise. The Broncos and Chargers will compete for the AFC West. The NFC North will be a Green Bay Packers won division, the NFC South will be ebtween the Bucs and Panthers and the NFC East will be a dogfight between the Cowboys, Eagles and Giants.

See, I just don't understand why everyone is sold on the freakin' BILLS after 3 games. You're sold on that front 7? I know I'm not. They've done well so far, but I don't expect them to keep it up considering how atrocious the Bills have been rushing the passer the last few seasons. And I'm also curious as to why everyone is sold on Trent Edwards as well. This guy has what, 8 games under his belt? Half of which he was terrible in? The Bills have a solid secondary and a good rushing offense (though Lynch is EXTREMELY overrated---don't get me wrong, he's great, but he's not a top 5 back like ESPN makes it sound) but I just don't see them being able to win more then 8 games this year.

I dont know dude. They beat Seattle and Jacksonville. They struggled against the Raiders yes but they still won. If anyone could detrhone your Pats in the East it would be them. They have not been to the playoffs since 1999. That spells a desperate team. They (unlike a team that wears silver and blue and just fired their GM) are actually going in the right direction. They beat the Rams this weekend and they are 4-0. They have lost like 10 in a row against ur Pats but that could very well change this season as they play a Pats team without Brady and a team that seemingly lost their swagger (I say that because a Brady lead Pats team would NEVER HAVE EVER gotten blown out by Miami at home. It just would not happen.). The Jets suck as we all know and Brett Farve is vastly overrated. I never did get ur thoughts on the man. Tell me damn it what u thought of the whole situation. The Dolphins are still learning. The Pats are still a good team but they lost their confidence (IMO). They have good enough coaching to get past it and make the playoffs (where they go from there is anyones guess). What do you think about the AFC West (Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers)?

All I can say is that the division that is the most intriguing this year is the NFC BEast. I am so very shocked that my 'Skins pulled off that victory in Dallas yesterday. And, I most definitely think that the game to watch this upcoming week will be the Eagles vs. the Redskins. If the Redskins pull off a victory at Lincoln Financial, I, along with many other Washingtonians who are used to getting their heart broken every NFL season, may be inclined to believe that the Redskins are a force to be reckoned with this year. However, I just think that, after their loss to the Bears, the Eagles are hungry for a victory (here's to hoping that beating, arguably, the best team in the NFL doesn't get to the heads of the 'Skins too much).

Well my 1/4 of the year thoughts at this point.

AFC East. Well, what a difference one injury will make. This Division has pretty much been turned upside down, with the Bills, yes that's right, those bills, standing atop at 4-0. The Bills have beaten good teams in Seattle, and Jacksonville, but questionable play against Oakland. The Jets could still be the team to beat. That Damn Brett Favre and 6 touchdowns in one game is saying something. I still think the jury is out on how good the dolphins could be, I think it was a fluke, and not a shadow of things to come. And then we get to the Patriots. How good is Bellichick, we don't know. Something tells me we'll find out, and Patriots fans aren't going to be happy. What a difference Tom Brady makes. Let's remember, Bellichick was 41-55 as a head coach before Tom, and that teams beatdown by the Dolphins simply wouldn't have happened with Brady at the helm. I think teams are going to be gunning for the Pats this year. This is the year that they are beatable, and I'm pretty sure teams are going to take there shots at them.

Revised Finish:
Jets: I think Favre simply has too much right now, and against a favorable schedule, this team could go on a tear.
Bills: The Bills are that team that look good, but I think the bottom is going to fall off from them pretty quickly. I think they are a safe bet for a wild card, but I see the Jets catching them.
Patriots: While still a good team, I can't see them doing much better then 500, if 500 at all. Cassell just isn't good. They place an easy schedule, but with that aging defense, and no forseeable 30 point leads to hold onto, the Pats fall back to the Pack.
Dolphins: Still too young. I think that they are probably more improved, but I doubt they'll e able to win more then 4 games this year.

AFC North: Plain and Simple, all four of these teams are terrible, and it's a good possibility that none of these teams finish above 500.
Revised Finish.
Steelers: They're banged up, but still good enough to win this division. There three wins are against the Browns, Texans and Ravens, nothing to write home about. They played one tough opponent in the Eagles, and got their quarterbacks killed. The Steelers aren't the old Steelers, but good enough to win this crap pile.
Ravens: I'm shocked, but this team has a backbone with that old Rex Ryan defense. If Flacco can get a lead, that defense will hold it for him.
Browns: This is one of the worst teams I have ever seen. I'm so glad to see that America's new darling is getting it's ass handed to them week in and week out. Attention Browns' fans, how about play a tough schedule and winning before buying your Super Bowl tickets. It took the last play of the game to beat a Palmer-less Cincinnati team that has gotten it's ass kicked all year, that's pathetic.
Bengals: Maybe the worst team in the AFC, we'll find out when they play the Texans I suppose. The O-Line is one of the worst things I have ever seen. This team is incredibly soft, undisciplined, and selfish. Fire Marvin.

AFC South: Another topsy turvy division.
Revised:
Colts: I Still think the Colts are the team to beat in this division. They have two losses against two tough teams. The loss of Bob Sanders hurts, but I think most of the problems fall on the Offense and it's inability to gel during the preseason. Once week five or six hits, this team is going to gel, and they are going to go on a run.
Titans: 4-0, shocking right now. I don't think this team is as good as their record indicated, but I think they are good enough to go 10-6.
Jaguars: The offseason issues are playing with this team. When one of your teammates gets shot 14 times, it throws the mindset off. Plus, I simply don't think David Garrard is that good. I think the rest of the league has caught up with him, and the running game isn't as effective as it once was.
Texans: Yup, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Back to the bottom of the pile for this team. They did well last year, but that's proving itself to be more and more of a fluke.

AFC West.
Revised:
Chargers: Best 2-2 team I have ever seen. This team should be 4-0, plain and simple. Without a last second touchdown and a terrible call, this team is dominating the AFC. Even with LT not being himself, this team is leaps and bounds better then everyone else in this division.
Broncos: Quite possible the worst 3-1 team I have ever seen. Two questionable wins, and this team could very well be 1-3. That defense is atrocious. What good is scoring 40 points a game when the D is going to give up 45.
Raiders: I'm shocked I have them #3, but the Chiefs are just terrible. Al Davis is an idiot, and firing a coach midseason never works.
Chiefs: Unfortunately, they won a game, or else this could possibly be the team to go 0-16. Herman Edwards is god awful, and I have never understood his appeal. The guy is a clown, and it's nice to see him not winning in KC like he was not winning in NYC.

Playoffs.
Jets, Steelers, Chargers, Colts.
Wild Cards:
Bills and Titans.

By the looks of it, I say the Chargers are my new pick to go to the Super Bowl from the AFC at this point. The rest of the teams just aren't good enough. The colts could do well, but they have had all sorts of problems against SD, and health is an issue. The Chargers just are too good, and without New England being a factor, this is their year.

Welll the Cowboys are NOT THE BEST TEAM in the NFL after this past sunday. The NFL is wide open this year and everyone has a shot. I even believe that my Niners have a shot at winning the west after seeing them play 4 games. Their offense is 14th, defense is 20th, not good, not bad. Middle of the Pack. But our division is so bad that anything is possible. It is really a matter of not making mistakes. Play like we did in week 2 and 3 and we will win.

The Browns are horrible, once again Shocky. My apologies. The Chargers need to win more consistently and the Broncos have a horrible run defense that cannot stop anyone. This will actualkly be an interesting season because NO ONE WILL RUN AWAY WITH IT LIKE LAST YEAR.

I'm sorry for not posting more on the last couple of weeks. And once I'm back 100% I shall be giving a 1st Quarter (late) review. A couple things stand out to me right now though.. and I'm about to go into discussing them.

Washington Redskins: Without a doubt, this team has to be the surprise underdog team to come out of nowhere. All I've ever heard since the beginning of the season is Dallas this, Philly that, New York who.. haha I kid, I kid. Seriously though.. 3 top teams in that division.. and the one team that's only lost once to one of them, is the one team noone bothered to mention and wrote off after their week one loss to the Giants.

The Redskins haven't just beaten Dallas or Philly.. they went to their homes and beat them. That's saying something. On top of that, they defeated the New Orleans Saints, who arguably put up a ton of points and it's hard to match that.. even when their D (NO's) sucks. I think the Skins are off to a better start and their season just started a week behind everyone else.. but the question is, will it end before everyone else or not as well.

Playing in that division is hard enough, and because of that.. it only takes 2-3 losses to be instantly out of the running.

Buffalo Bills: Suffered their first loss of the season, but under some unique circumstances. Trent Edwards left the game during the first quarter, if not I think the first series. J.P. Losman (sp?) replaced him and didn't do too bad.. but couldn't match the points that Kurt Warner and the Explosive Cards could put up.

I'm not jumping on the Bills bandwagon, nor am I jumping off. I didn't really think this team suddenly connected all the dots within an off-season, but I think this goes to show you that they can only win games with a close score. In other words, they'd be screwed against actual offensive weapon-like teams.

Brett Favre: A week ago he did something that he'd never done before, and that was throw some odd 6 TD passes. Does that suddenly make the Jets a playoff caliber team? FUCK NO. It makes them Favre's team.. which will ultimately kill them.

So what, the guy threw 6 TDs. Warner opposite that threw for almost 500 yds., does that make him a playoff QB? No.. it means they faced incredibly shitty Defenses. And teams like New England, Pittsburgh, and others won't allow Favre to put up that type of video game like crap.

Miami Dolphins: I love how many people have suddenly become Fin-fans. What the shit for? Because they discovered their almost bust of a RB could do his job? Or because they discovered if they pull their noodle-arm QB that they could have a better shot just direct-snapping the ball to Brown?

News flash.. in 2006 Carolina direct snapped the ball to DeAngelo Williams about 40 plus times against the Falcons and we won 20-14 I think.. I know we won, but the point is.. they couldn't stop it for the first half.. then got smart and started changing coverage to stop it during the second half. The same thing will happen for teams who play Miami.

Atlanta Falcons: 3-2 isn't a bad start at all for them.. but I predict them to be this year's "Cleveland Browns". They'll put up decent numbers and pick up a few more wins because they don't have to fall back on their QB.. but when their running game gets stopped.. then they'll lose.

Case in point.. look what happened against Tampa Bay & Carolina. Running game got stuck. They lost. Matt Ryan will become something good I'm sure, and Atlanta will be a thorn in a lot of teams sides' this year.. but I doubt they come close to making the playoffs. I'd be shocked if they do.

Carolina Panthers: Two things instantly pop out for me. First, I love being 4-1.. Second, I hate that the only loss we had, was against a team that hasn't (yet) beaten anyone else.

Our running game is good, our passing game is starting to click, and our defense has surprised the crap outta me with how incredible we've been with stopping the run. (held Larry Johnson to 2 yds. TWO FUCKING YARDS!)

But, 4-1 can turn into 4-3 incredibly fast. Because next week we go to Tampa Bay, and following that we're back home against New Orleans. We had trouble with TB last year, and I honestly don't know if we can defend an onslaught of passes by Brees this year. I'm still favorable and hopeful that Carolina is definately (and quietly) becoming a solid team to contend with, in the N.F.C.

New England Patriots: Uh-oh.. Matt Cassel finally found Randy Moss.. and guess what happened? THEY WON! I beat a lot of disbelievers are still wanting to write them off without Brady.. as if once again Brady is their whole entire team.

The Niners had been putting up decent numbers and had an incredible run game. Where were either of those things? That's right.. being shut down by the Defense that's STILL INTACT! Brady doesn't play D.. and the Pats used to be known for it.. so why did so many people write off the D, when Brady got hurt?

Apparently just because Cassel was a former High School QB and barely did anything in College.. that made him instantly crap. Need I remind you, Chris Weinke (I believe) won the Heisman.. and what'd he do for Carolina? JACK SHIT.. that's what. Quit riding on stats and stories. Start watching "now" instead of reading about "then". Because the Pats are 3-1 NOW.

I have more, but I'll stop for now.

My Pittsburgh Steelers!!! Boy that was a great win. It was a win where our defense shined. Holding Portis below his avg, and picking off Campbell twice. A feat that hasnt been done this year until Monday night. Ben looked like shit, but he's a little banged up. Arians needs to run quick plays to react to the blitzing. The best way to counter blitzing is with short passes, and screens, something he does when Leftwich is in the game. I guess Arians is looking for the big play with Ben. O well we are 6-2.

Hopefully Miller isn't out for long. He's a stellar tightend. Good ol' Dick had a perfect game plan, he picked apart the Redskins offense. They got the Colts next week, the game should be good. The Steelers should win, especially if Ben plays. If not our big and nasty D should create a few turnovers giving our offense a short field to work with. I predict a low scoring game, but the Steelers come out on top.

Well I've got to say I'm very satisfied with how my Pats have done without Brady. This season has really shown me just how incredibly fucking stupid 99% of ESPN's "analysts" are. As soon as Brady went down, almost every analyst on ESPN was saying "the season is done for the Pats, they'll be lucky to win 8 games at most". And here we are at 6-3, with a 2-1 divisional record. Matt Cassel's stock is rising with each and every game. The only problem the kid has really, and this is the problem with our entire team, is executing in the red zone. We're able to march right up the field, and our offense looks great, but it's like we hit a road block once we're in the red zone.

No team has been as decimated by injuries as the Pats have (even though I'm sure Brian will try to argue how Pittsburgh has lost more even though all of their injured players combined still don't equal the impact on a game that Brady has) so far. We've lost 3 of our very best players, and 3 absolute studs at their positions. We lost the best QB in the NFL in the first 5 minutes of the season, we lost one of the best safeties of all time in Rodney Harrison for the season, and now we've lost Adalius Thomas for the season as well.

Thursday is a huge game. Jets-Pats. Fucking ******ed ESPN analysts all act as though the Jets are so incredibly better then the Pats (Could Skip Bayless possibly be on NY's dick any more? I mean, is it even physically possible for his mouth to be more attached to the Jets dick then it currently is?), even though we beat them in Week 2 in Matt Cassel's first start in almost a decade, and even though the Jets lost to the FUCKING OAKLAND RAIDERS (ROFL).

I'll say it right now: The Jets will not win the AFC East. No way.

man what a weird week in football, The Pats losing at home, Cassell throwing for 400 yards after starting 0-12 ( I believe it was 0-12, even if it wasn't his start was still shit). He ran for roughly 60 yards. We got a tie in Cinci, and McNabb thought ties didnt exist in the NFL. what a fucking idiot, this isn't College football. Shit, the Ravens gave up 200 yards rushing. Which is remarkable when they haven't given up a 100 yard rusher in years.

The Steelers and Bolts game ended 11-10. It's the the first such score in 12,837 games. Roethlisberger throws for over 300 yards, Parker gets over 100 yards rushing and we do not score a single fucking touchdown. Penalties killed them, 15 i believe, and a penalty led to the Bolts scoring on a bull shit PI call when clearly the receiver ran over Ike Taylor. Anyways the Steelers have a short week, but they're at home where they should take care of business.

Stillerz win in a doozy 24-14
