So, Meng/Haku is not Samoan? I sure did come into this thread with the idea of voting for him, lol.

I wish. He's Tongan, and I did some research, and found Tonga is fully independent - though only 300 miles away from - Samoa. I also wanted to include Fiji, but alas, no Snuka either.

Anyway, Rock is going to get in, but I'm not voting for him. He doesn't need the help.

Furthermore (this is for Lee, especially), Jericho lives in New York but he's from Canada. People move, bro. I'm IrishCanadian, but I was born and raised in NJ. I'm going by kayfabe heritage. I don't have access to birth certificates.

My point was it was established early on that it would be kayfabe where they were billed from. Hence why the Samoan born Yokozuna who was billed from Japan got on team Japan. It's how the Canadian born Piper will likely get into the UK team. It's odd that you then change this for the Rock despite him publicly saying Miami was his home.

I didn't change shit, he as nominated into this team BY THE FANS and he's being accepted into this team BY THE FANS. I think you're just upset about Big Daddy, and you're taking it too seriously by suggesting there's an issue with the tournament. Rock is Samoan, he's been described as being from Samoan. No bones were made from day one about the fact that High Cheif Peter Maivia was his family.

I think you should have a scotch and CTFO.

Whoa it matters not about Big Daddy being in or not, what annoys me is that because the majority voters are american maybe UK posters should have had something like worth 2 votes for their one or something, seeing as we know about British wrestling.

When it was being discussed I remember bringing the rock up and at the time the consensus was that he was American. Heck he appeared on all those sigs for America in the main one on one tournament. If someone si billed from Miami Florida then they should be from Miami Florida.

Your objection is noted, but kindly don't blast the tournament because you don't agree with one participant. People identify Rock as Samoan as opposed to American or Black, and as a result, he's here.

Hell, a HUGE reason Samoa was even voted INTO the tournament over Puerto Rico and Italy was a result of people wanting Rock in there. So technically he's being voted in TWICE.

Just go focus on the campaign for Big Daddy and leave this be. It's not gonna change.

So the 3 I voted for are:

1: Samoa Joe. My favourite wrestler ever, so how could I not vote him. His matches are legendary, and he's much more dominating then say, Umaga. And he's more well rounded. As for the events. Well, he could do well in the submission match, and he'd be good in the iron man and battle royale events.

2: The Rock. An obvious choice, yes. That's why I chose him. The greatest stick worker ever, and not too shabby in the ring either. The height of entertainment, and a staple of my childhood. I remember being devastated when I found out his name was Dwayne.

3: Rikishi. I like him. So what? He'd be decent in the battle royale, but other than that I can't think of anything he'd be good at. But he was fun to watch. Stink face anyone. And I remember him being in TNA. So that gets him points. Sonny Siaki almost got this vote, purely because of that. But alas, Rikishi, or Junior Fatu, gets my final vote.

I think Samoa Joe is a current contender for this "title". He has really improved this year IMO, and he is an amazing wrestler (especially for his size :p). His in ring work is constantly improving, and he can make the fans love him or hate him, no matter the situation.

I voted for The Rock, even though he probably shouldn't be there. That being said, his Samoan heritage was noted on TV, which means he'd have a Samoan passport in the wrestling world, and would be allowed to compete like the Jamaican high jumper that won us a silver in Beijing. Anyway,I voted for him because he's ace to be honest, and we all know that.

I voted for Umaga because I really like him. I think he's got his character perfect, and has proven himself in a number of environments, a really solid wrestler by any yardstick. Finally, I voted for Rikishi because he is the only other one on the list that has enjoyed a decent push in a top drawer company. I could have gone for Joe, but I think he's a bit shit to be honest.

Team Samoa has a great all around roster. With the Rocky as the leader of Joe, Rikishi, and Umaga, that's one force to be reckoned with. Afa is a good wrestler to boot. I can see Team Samoa winning some medals.

Rikishi beat High Chief? Really? I should've followed the voting as it was happening, because that's just a travesty. This team falls in line with Japan in being as strong as their weakest member. Rikishi slows down the team, and doesn't really add anything. With the exception of The Rock, every member on this team is just a step below a member on every other team, except the Russians.

This is precisely the reason why I advocated Fiji being aligned with Samoa. The way I see it is that for each event, each team should have a fighting chance to pick up a victory. Superfly Jimmy Snuka should have been an option for this team so they could have had a chance in the Ladder Match Event.

Team Samoa has a very good shot in at least three of these events.

The Rock has competed in an Iron Man match before, and his conditioning is out of this world. The Rock is also the most in shape out of these five, and considering that the best wrestler for each team is going to compete in the Iron Man Event, Team Samoa's going to need to send their best to begin with, and The Rock is that man. Every other member of this team would gas at the half hour mark if lucky. The Rock is the best choice for this event, and it could be where Team Samoa gets their gold.

Samoa Joe is nicknamed "The Samoan Submission Machine". Obviously, he's the best choice here for Team Samoa's success.... no question about it. Samoa Joe will most likely pick up a medal here for Team Samoa as well. The best option, by far, and it gives Team Samoa a very dangerous 1-2 punch.

Umaga was an incredible brawler. However, it bears mentioning that he wasn't that successful in matches that he should have been dominant in, which are brawls. Exhibit A: He lost in a Street Fight against Jeff Hardy at Extreme Rules 2008. Given that Team Samoa doesn't have a high flyer, when they could have an extremely good chance to win if Fiji was included, let's put Umaga in the Ladder Match. Umaga was very agile for a big man, and he could get by on sheer brutality. The fact that he was on the heavier side is highly overrated. Mark Henry, who is bigger than Umaga, has competed in a ladder match before. Umaga could very well use sheer brawn to win with here.

Now getting back to the event where it's Falls Count Anywhere, Afa should represent Team Samoa in that event. He pioneered the style of the wild brawling Pacific Islander, and his primitive nature could do some major damage for Team Samoa here.

Lastly, for Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal, I think it should be motioned that Peter Maivia step in for Rikishi. Quite frankly, Rikishi is too heavy and not that good, compared to Peter Maivia, who was quite an accomplished wrestler, and is more versatile than Rikishi ever could be. With Rikishi in this event, Team Samoa might as well throw in the towel. Rikishi's not good for any of these four events, and he surely wouldn't be good for whatever the wheel lands on. Peter Maivia is an alternate for a reason. Swap Rikishi out for him.

Ironman - Rock. He's the best overall wrestler and should definetly be put in this match. He has the ability to beat pretty much anyone and is in good enough shape to be able to handle an Ironman; I think he's been in a few before.

Submission - Samoa Joe. Joe is someone who could've fit in pretty much any match, so I considered him for the Spin the Wheel Match, but he's really the only one on this team who would fit in the submission match. I'm not sure how great he is, considering he lost to Bobby Lashley in a submission match recently, but there was a time when he was unstoppable. He went for like a year before losing a match, so he has a shot to do some damage here.

Ladder - Afa. There really isn't a good choice for Samoa here. I think they'll get smoked in this match regardless of who they put in there, but Afa would be respectable and maybe get a few voted.

Falls Count Anywhere - Rikishi. Just because the match can go outside of the ring it doesn't mean it has to. Rikishi's size could be a problem for pretty much anybody, so I think he has the chance to at least win a match or 2 here.

Spin the Wheel - Umaga. Umaga is a very athletic big man who could compete in all sorts of matches. Sure, he wasn't ever that successful in the WWE, but you can make an argument for him in pretty much any match.

Ironman (30, 45, 60 mins)- The Rock

He has way more stamina than any of the other member of Team Samoa so he’s perfect for this match. He has also competed in an Iron Man match before against Triple H. Even though he lost, because of outside interference by The Undertaker, he showed he could go for an hour. He has also competed in matches that were nearly 30 minutes such as his Wrestlemania 17 match with Stone Cold and the Fatal 4 way from Wrestlemania 2000 lasted for about 36 minutes according to Wikipedia. That’s just two examples though, there are plenty more, the point is that we know he can last long enough in matches such as this one.

Submission- Samoa Joe

There’s a reason he’s called the Samoan Submission Machine. That’s because he is a submission expert and it would be silly for him not to wrestle in this match for his team. He has several submission moves he could use to win the matches. Also, he’s actually won matches via submission so it’s not like using submission maneuvers is something new for him.

Falls Count Anywhere- Eddie "Umaga" Fatu

He is probably the best brawler out of the remaining choices and he does have some experience in matches like this one. I know he’s lost matches like this before, but I think he’s a better choice for it than Rikishi or Afa Anoa'i.

Ladder / MITB Match- Afa Anoa'i

The last two remaining choices were Afa and Rikishi. I decided to go by who weighs less which in this case it’s Afa. Rikishi is much heavier and much bigger so he might have some trouble, or at least more trouble than Afa, trying to get up the ladder. I don’t know how much experience he has in this type of match or if he’s ever competed in something similar, but it shouldn’t be too difficult if he knows what he’s objective is and if he can adjust quickly.

Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal- Rikishi

He was the remaining person so I guess he should go in this match. He isn’t as versatile as say Kurt Angle, but he is somewhat versatile so he shouldn’t do too bad here.

This event selection was a tad bit more difficult to decide

Ironman

The Rock

The Rock is almost as versatile as Samoa Joe, possessing plenty of stamina needed to go the full hour. The Rock has some experience with the Iron Man match, and he has had long epic battles with Kurt Angle, Steve Austin, and Brock Lesnar; all men who have had Iron Man matches in the past.

Submission

Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe is by far the most versatile member of Team Samoa; he could have been ideal for any one of these events. He is extremely agile for his size, and he possesses the stamina of a man fifty pounds lighter than his near 300 pound frame. However, the man finds his true home on the mat, preferring to finish the bulk of his matches by submission. His knowledge and experience with submission holds, combined with his strength and agility make him the ideal candidate for the submission match.

Falls Count Anywhere

Rikishi

The largest member of Team Samoa is Rikishi. What he lacks in speed and agility, he makes up with raw power. It’ll be no small task being able to keep a 400 pound man down for a ten count.

Ladder

Afa Anoai

With The Rock and Samoa Joe already tied up with matches, this leaves either Umaga or Afa as candidates for this match. While Umaga could probably hold his own in this match if he needed to, Afa is a better choice because of the speed and agility advantage he holds over his lager cousin.

Spin the wheel

Umaga

The Samoan Bulldozer possesses tremendous raw power and surprising speed, his tenacity and threshold for pain being almost overwhelming. While Umaga probably would have been the best choice for the Falls Count Anywhere match, Spin the Wheel is a random match generator, meaning combatants could be faced with any stipulation. If I were on the opposing team, Umaga would be the last person I would want to face in a steel cage or a No DQ match.

Spin the Wheel has become every poster in this tournaments last choice. So if Samoa wants to get a win in this thing, they have to put The Rock in their Spin the Wheel match. Everyone else is putting their left overs in the match.

Submission match, should probably be up for Umaga or Samoa Joe. But that nerve pinch has put down countless men, and I know Samoa Joe is better off in the...

Ladder match. Samoa Joe knows all about going Xtreme, so this makes sense for TNA to put him here.

Afa would be the best in the Iron Man, but it doesn't really matter, because no one that Samoa has would have a chance to win this, so makes sense to put Afa forward.

For the falls Count anywhere match, we are left with Rikishi. Rikishi has been in a Hell in a cell match, and he also battled Triple H into the distance, so I think he knows how to do this match. But there is one thing else I know. Falls Count Anywhere, that means this shit can go into the parking lot. And we know who is in the parking lot? Rikishi's car, the same one he ran over Austin with. Obvious choice really.

For some of the events it was easy to pick should go where but there are three names that I am wondering about who should go where though.

Ironman (30, 45, 60 mins) Rocky Maivia no doubt it just only makes since and his the agile of the bunch besides Joe.

Submission Samoa Joe is the best logic here since Rock is already in the match. Hopefully he'll bring his A game to this match.

Falls Count Anywhere Afa Anoa'i as much as I could go with Umaga here but I decided to go with the second some what weak link. I believe he can do at least decent in this match hopefully.

Ladder / MITB Match Eddie "Umaga" Fatu I liked what Brocktoon saying about weight issue here and so that's why I decided to with Umaga in this match. Hopefully can help his team out.

Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal Rikishi Fatu as I said about Yoko in the other post I decided to go with Rikishi in this match just in case it can go in his favor since he is a big guy. We will just have to wait and see what the match is going to be though.

Ironman Specialist: Rocky Maivia

Really, there is no match that Rocky can be put into without standing a chance. However, he has the endurance, he has the heart and he has the stamina to get through many people, something required in these types of situations. Rocky has been known to be resilient, competing with the best of them. I mean, he beat Hulk Hogan, a man who never says no and never lays down for anyone without going to hell and back.

Its Rocky's only choice, but it is very logical.

Submissions Specialist: Samoa Joe

Joe seems like he has been specifically designed for submissions. Sure, he is more of a high impact, fast paced, power player who can go against many big men, but his strength is shit scary when he adopts submissions. He has more than a submission finisher to get past his opponent, including such moves as the STF (a move that has proven to gain victories, a la John Cena and William Regal),

His intensity in the ring would completely drain the opponents energy, which would be enough to use a submission to finish the job. I mean, the guy even got mentored by Taz, someone with one of the most feared and deadly submissions in the game.

Falls Count Anywhere Specialist: Rikishi Fatu

The only match remotely resembling Rikishi having an advantage. This man just is pure power and weighs around the 400 pound mark. With most of the wrestlers being placed into the match being much less in the weight division, Rikishi would have the upper advantage as it would be a lot harder to get him down.

This has been proven by the Armageddon Hell in a Cell match. 6 men entered and Rikishi was one of them. How did Rikishi get put down? A chokeslam off the roof onto a pickup truck. The fact that he survived the fall AND he managed to get up onto the roof of the cell just proves that he won't be taken down easily.

Ladder Specialist: Afa Anoa'i

I'm not to familiar with Afa's work, but I know that he is very agile for his size, can brawl with the best of them, has the essential experience needed and has excelled in matches requiring a partner. I'm sure Afa won't mind inducting the ladder as an honourary Wild Samoan member for the night.

Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal: Eddie "Umaga" Fatu

The man is just huge and is very versatile. That being said, he is the only logical choice that can stand against other behemoths of the other teams. I mean, the man has beaten the best like Shawn Michaels and has taken it to people with completely different wrestling styles. Any match would just equate danger for the opponent, because I sure don't want to be inside a cage with Umaga.

Wow. this was tough, only because I have no clue how a fat Samoan is supposed to climb a ladder and make it look like he can win.

Submission ~ Samoa Joe

This was perhaps the easiest pick out of any team. He's the best technician on this time, and one of the best in this thing (not on Team Canada). He's wrestled great matches around the world, and this should be a unanimous decision.

Iron Man ~ The Rock

Other than Samoa Joe, there was absolutely no clear choices for me. The Iron Man match is clearly the most grueling, and will be stocked with great choices from other teams, so I had to put Rocky here.

Falls Count Anywhere ~ Umaga

He's the most brutal of anyone on this team, so I didn't have a choice but to put him here. He can go toe-to-toe with anyone else that will end up here, so why not give him a chance?

Spin The Wheel, Make The Deal ~ Rikishi

I'm really not sure why. This was made more because I can't picture him in a Ladder match as easily as I can picture Manu.

Ladder/MiTB ~ Manu

After Rock and Joe got placed into their matches, he seemed the most likely to climb a ladder quicker than he can chow through a bowl of molasses.

I think it makes more sense to put them all together, then justify the team, which is what I'm going to do here.

Team Samoa

Rocky Maivia - Falls Count Anywhere
Samoa Joe - Iron Man
Eddie "Umaga" Fatu - Spin the wheel make a deal
Rikishi Fatu - Submission
Afa Anoa'i - ladder

SOmething interesting in this thread is that just about everyone has Rock in the iron man match. The Rock has had one iron man match, and he lost. Samoa Joe on the other hand has had a ton of one hour matches, and lost hardly any of them. That obviously makes Samoa suffer in terms of submission, but he wouldn't have beaten the Japanese or the Canadians anyway, so bronze was their most realistic target.

The submission match's loss is the falls count anywhere's gain, as The Rock has won gimmick matches against some of the best of them, including Mick Foley, which is certainly a good omen.

Umaga is a prety good all rounder, and has beaten most types of wrestler in his day, so I think he's probably the best shout for spin the wheel.

I've put Afa in the ladder match because none of them are going to win it. The Rock has won them in the past, but he won't beat Jericho or Shawn Michaels or whoever else he has to face. Afa is probably the worst of the team, and if anyone is going to get creamed, it should be him.

Finally, I don't believe I've ever seen Rikishi tap out, and he used to use the camel clutch when he was The Sultan, a shit gimmick if ever I saw one. I don't expect him to win a submission match, but it would be difficult to beat him.

Ironman (30, 45, 60 mins)

The Rock:
The best wrestler on the team, and ever in my opinion, so I decided to choose him for the match that requires the best wrestler in the group. Joe could have filled in here.

Submission

Samoa Joe:
He can actually take part in every one of these competition, but he's the best suited for the submission match. they don't call him the samoan submission machine for nothing, and I actually think he can get a place in this.

Falls Count Anywhere

Umaga:
He's a tough guy, and I think he'll be a handful when weapons are involved.

Ladder / MITB Match

Afa:
Really, this is the match samoa has no chance whatsoever in. So, let's waste Afa.

Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal

Rikishi:
Why? Because he was left over. I think he might have a chance of not coming last. Who knows. He might beat someone from New Zealand or Russia.

"I probably, like, way missed this, but question....why the fuck is the Rock on this team? He was born in California "

Yokozuna is team Japan. It's a kayfabe tournament, so we go by where heir characters were from, not the performers. Thus, Yoko is Japan.

And TM, Texas isn't a country.

^^^thats why, it was on the first page of this thread, when i saw the thread i was thinking the same thing but i read that and it made sense why it was Rocky Mavia and not the rock.
