I Think Triple H Was Right

And WCW was still TV-PG. Look it up on YouTube. Even after the nWo showed up there was no cussing, no sexual scenes, and lack of blood. Again family friendly and kid-friendly are two different things. The former means it has something for everybody which WCW did. The latter means WWE(at times) in 1995 and 2009-2010.

ECW actually lead WWE into the Attitude Era.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You constantly use the words "kid-friendly" in a condescending and insulting way.

It is as if you are saying, that children shouldn't be catered for, and considered by, the WWE, because the stupid little brats are causing you to watch something that doesn't have filth, swear words or girls flashing themselves.

This seems to be an attitude that permeates throughout these boards, that it is the kids who are ruining everything. Well, don't some of you have children? Would you want them to watch "Attitude Era" WWF or "PG-Era" WWE?

I could make the old joke that most of you don't even have children, because you still live in your mother's attic, but I won't. My experience is that wrestling fans come from all walks of life. I bet that there are doctors, lawyers and airline pilots whose "guilty pleasure" is watching WWE. You know who else watches it- children! So, should we expose children to someone like a "Stone Cold" Steve Austin? Would you want your 5-year-old, or 8-year old to copy him, drink beer like him, defy YOUR authority (e.g. You:-"Go to bed, Johnny!", Johnny:-"No! Because Johnny said so!")?

I will assume that most of you are probably decent, hard-working people, who want to raise your children right, and share your interests with them. Well, why shouldn't your children share your interest in WWE? You talk about it enough to constantly come on these boards, so why wouldn't you want your children to share your passion?

If you want them to share your passion, then what WWE do you want to expose them to, especially if they are ten years old or under? A WWE where a superstar sacrifices another to a "higher power", beer-drinking, the "bird" being flipped, women having Bra-& -Panties matches etc? Or a WWE wear they have a family-friendly guy like John Cena, a little dude like Hornswoggle and wear the emphasis is on the entertainment inside the ring?

It is all about role models. Society and the media is quick to expect sportspeople, celebrities and teachers to be role models for their children, but don't seem to care to set the example themselves. No, they would rather stick them in childcare, or smoke in front of them, or curse in front of them. So, what you watch when you have kids is important too. If you want to watch your old "WWF Attitude Era" tapes, then wait until the kids are in bed. But if you want your children to watch WWE with you, then I recommend that today's "kiddie-friendly" WWE is the way to go.

HHH isn't out of touch as such, but that was/is his opinion and to some degree I disagree with his opinion, I believe as fan we were spoiled beyond belief in the Attitude Era and expect a lot more and now we don't get it we're more easily pissed off when we don't get it.

The PG era in some ways was needed to get away from the Benoit incident but the product has suffered in doing so, I feel like nowadays I'm watching an updated version of the 80s-mid 90s product, good guy vs bad guy and it's passe' their is only so many times when the good guy can rescue the woman from the train tracks and WWE/Cena have beaten that storyline until it's death.

WWE can stay away from the Attitude Era yet incorperate some of what worked then into today's product.

1. Have a championship that covers the weaknesses of guys and gets everyone involved and you never know it might get them over. Hardcore Championship was a classic example of getting lower card guys over and WWE could easily keep the matches more to the falls count anywhere rule with the occasional hardcore stuff.

2. Keep the blood at bay we don't need it.

3. Have the superstars have individual gimmicks like they had in the Attitude Era just not a pornstar gimmick, let them have mic time and allow the fans to invest their interest into the guys and keep the crude langauge toned down.

4. Tag Teams... have plenty of them, use the guys you have that don't get used.

5. Bring back PPV's and concepts that worked like King of the Ring and drop the gimmick PPV's use them more effectively.

We'll never see WWE go back to trash tv but they could use some of what worked then in today's product but toned down.
