Game On, Wrestlezone Forums - Triple H HQ

The 1-2-3 Killam

Mid-Card Championship Winner

I think that picture really says more than anything I could say, but I'll give it a try anyways. Triple H is one of the all-time greats
in pro wrestling. Whether you're ranking technical skill, ring psychology, character depth, his look or ever-important promo ability,
he's a conversation piece in all categories. Despite recent remarks by former Wrestlezone Tourament winner, Bret Hart, Triple H is
without a doubt, Hall of Fame worthy and among the best names in the history of the industry. Not in the top 1,000? My ass...

And here's the obligatory list of accolades:
-WWE/F Champion (8)
-World Heavyweight Champion (5)
-European Champion (2)
-Intercontinental Champion (5)
-Tag Team Champion (Austin- 1, HBK- 2)
-King of the Ring winner (1997)
-Royal Rumble winner (2002)

In case you're keeping track at home, that makes him not only a Triple Crown Champion, but only the second Grand Slam Champion in
WWE history. His non-numeric accolades include being the leader of two of the biggest factions ever - Evolution and Degeneration X.
He's responsible for making the careers of Randy Orton and Batista from a very young age. He's a pretty big part of the Attitude Era,
even if the DX presence has been slightly exaggerated over the years.

If Triple H encounters any opponent in a hardcore environment, I encourage you to review his Hell in a Cell and Street Fight matches
against Mankind, both of which he won. He's also defeated Chris Jericho, Kevin Nash and Shawn Michaels inside the Cell.

Our biggest mountain ahead is two-fold: Triple H has had problems winning at WrestleMania in his "prime", losing several straight years
starting with Chris Benoit onward. That may translate into a lack of fath being able to win the big one here. He's also
notorious - as a heel - for having ringside help and interference to win his matches. Shawn Michael, Chyna, Stephanie, Walman, NAO, etc.

So I'm gonna need all my fellow Triple H marks...or just NorCal...to join me. Are you ready? NO I SAID, ARE YOU READY!?

It's time to play the game...

I never said he'd win. I just said he's in the conversation. Maybe he's not a submission specialist, but he's damn consistent in the ring and has always been considered a "ring general". I mean all the word "technical" really implies is that one is attentive to the details of an art or process. He may not have Jericho's 1004 holds of doom, but I'd say in his prime has was up there in the more acknowledged of workers. People like Jericho - who is extremely "technical" - have put him over as having some of their best matches with him, and being extremely easy to work with because he's consistent and fluid in the ring. It's like a dance. It's not always about doing something different, but more often than not about doing something with consistency, and to the best of its ability.

YES

Triple H has my vote in this tournament. The man has ALL the tools needed to go down as one of the very best in the history of the business.

His list of accolades is pretty much untouchable, and although he gets criticised for "dominating the title scene" in the early 2000s, and "only getting where he is because he married into the McMahon family"- I say bullshit. Triple H is (or was) a world class performer. If Edge and Orton got so many title reigns without boning Stephanie, do you think Triple H would not have been treated the same, as he is better than both those guys? Of course he would.

He has the look of a star, and in his prime had one of the best bodies in the business. He has had great feuds with pretty much all the top stars of the last 15 years, including classic matches with the likes of Maick Foley, The Rock, Undertaker, HBK, and many more as well as helping to launch the careers of Batista and Randy Orton.

He led Evolution and D-Generation X, two of the most successful factions in WWE history, was part of classic moments such as the Invasion of WCW Nitro with DX, the love triangle with Kurt and Steph, the marriage to Stephanie, The parody of The Nation, and was brilliant in his role as the leader of the McMahon-Helmsley regime.

He was the most hated heel in the company and one point, but just look at reaction he got when he returned from injury in 2002- one of the best pops of all time. That shows the respect that true fans have for Triple H. He deserves it. He is brilliant on the mic, capable of playing a great face and evil heel, and fantastic in the ring.

He is THAT DAMN GOOD

Not even in my Top 1000 Wrestlers. But I love that he's holding the Diva's Title there.

He will get my vote in the first round, obviously depending on the opponent, but he's not someone I'll support past a few rounds.

Ladies and gentlemen, we now have found Bret Hart on our own forums.

It would explain the brain dead posting

I laughed for a second there, congratulations.

It was sarcasm, the top 1000 wrestlers part. Glad you all noticed.

Sarcasm again.

Sarcasm is just above your levels of competence. Right above avoiding prison again and writing shitty RP's.

I would actually back Triple H to a final 8 run. Probably in the hopes people vote Brock Lesnar there so we can watch him crush Triple H, before Triple H gets back his win at Mania

I imagine I could name at least 100 wrestlers I would prefer to see wrestle a match than HHH. I can name 1000 wrestlers with a better haircut.

He has a Motörhead song as his entrance theme song! Nuff' said, sorry Motörhead is above all of his other entrance songs (not saying that they aren't good but Lemmy is better)....I mean yeah Triple H is a fucking legend. Maybe not so much now with his short hair.

Haven't you guys heard? Triple H is married to Stephanie McMahon. Stephanie McMahon is Vince McMahon's daughter. Vince McMahon is the owner of WWE. That's the only reason Triple H ever won a match in WWE. He doesn't have any talent and isn't truly worthy of any of his accomplishments. If not for his marriage he wouldn't have going any further than Aldo Montoya.

Sorry, just getting you guys ready for all the bullshit arguments. At least I've seen him win a ladder match. He probably only got that win because he was going to end up married to Steph five years later but I saw him climb that ladder so he's already got an advantage over Hogan and Andre.

One of the reasons I like this tournament is because personal opinion can often change given what match the person is in. Triple H is always part of the running regardless but if he faces lets say Edge in a TLC match no way he's gonna win. Not necessarily because he shouldn't win but because the votes will be overwhelmingly for Edge in such a situation. I usually like who the winner is but getting there can be a bit of a headache. Everyone's entitled to their opinion but my god have I seen some lackluster arguments in the past in some match ups.

Then again its fun watching some of the WZ Forum veterans blow a stack in such situations.

Trips only won that match because the walk down the aisle left Rock too gassed to compete. Dwayne was sweating and everything. Shameful shit.

I already have my post for Triple H vs. Anderson prepared. It's not even going to be close.

After breezing past the Asshole, it's either going to be JBL or Booker T. I hope to god that somehow JBL sneaks past, because I'm not sure the forums are going to put Triple H over Booker in a WCW environment. And IF he can manage to get past the 5-time WCW Champion - which I think is possible - he'll end up in an iconic rematch with Mick Foley, or against Chris Benoit, a man who's beat him on the biggest stage of them all. Oh yeah, and a former WCW guy.

Wouldn't even put this campaign thread in the top 1000 however I'll vote for triple h in the first few rounds he looks like he has a pretty easy early run.
