The WWF was on the verge of going out of business from 94-97. Vince cut costs after the steroid trial and most of his talent jumped to WCW because of it. If it wasn't for Austin coming in and saving the day we might be looking at a very different ladscape in professional wrestling today.

"A title at the title" and your talking about my grammar? Jarret did help turn TNA into a global promotion, Jarret being the smart business man that he is decided that the only way to compete with a billionaire is get your own billionaire to fund his business. Seeing as how Robert Carter knows next to nothing about running a wrestling company Jarret still handles most of the wrestling related responsibilities, such as promoting shows with major promotions in Japan and Mexico, as well as making it more popular then wwe in the UK.

She beat him at Jericho at Survivor Series and lost to him at Armageddon. You have no idea what your talking about so you should just stop while your ahead

Lol, Backlund is in no objective way superior to Jarret. You have something against Jarrett for some reason that I just don't know, but, whatever it is you need to get over it and realize that Jeff Jarret is an excellent professional wrestler and deserves to go over Bob Backlund in this tournament.

WWF may have been on the verge of bankruptcy I can guarantee it was in a better spot than WCW in 2000 and TNA in 2002. Do you have some hatred towards WWE or something or are you deliberately selling them short because you are drinking the kool aid.

Bro it had nothing to do with expanding it Jarrett got the money because TNA was oh so very close to folding. I agree like in 2009 when Jarrett was absent for months because Carter sent him home and he had nothing at all to do with the company good point. Anyway it doesn't have anything to do with Jarrett as a wrestler it just proves you're a buffon. The only reason TNA is bigger in the UK is because it's on free TV there as opposed to 1am Tuesday morning.

She low blowed Jericho when Kitty had the refs attention and may I add beating someone for a title means to actually win it from them.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I just lost all respect for your arguments there thought I had none but you dug yourself that little bit deeper. Only technically better, as a draw, being able to hold onto a title for 6 years and not losing it 11 times dude he lost the title 11 times. I don't hate JJ I actually don't mind him I just don't have my lips attached to his rear end like you do. Also you seem to be unable to spell his name.

[Jarret being the smart business man that he is decided that the only way to compete with a billionaire is get your own billionaire to fund his business.

My god, if only I had the smart business mind to go get a billionaire to finance my company, I could get that German porn wagon off the ground in no time! Solid logic that is, I'll go get the billionaire to help me out, that takes such shrewd business savvy

Lol, Backlund is in no objective way superior to Jarret.

Except that he drew more profit as a company than TNA has as a company?

Backlund goes over on this one. Say what you want, but Jeff Jarrett was never the guy unless Vince Russo was around. And even when they were together in WWF, Jarrett couldn't gain any traction. It took going to a watered down WCW that was losing its ass to get to the top.

And that died, pretty damn quick

Backlund's longest WWF title reign means more then every Russo-assisted or company that he owned World Title that Jarrett ever won combined.

Jarrett is a great classic heel who did well for himself everywhere he went(though extinuating factors often existed), but on Backlund's level he is not.

Even with legal guitar shots to the head Double-J is still out-manned here. Vote for Backlund, slapnuts.

Haha I can't believe there are 3 pages of discussion for this. I'll keep it short and sweet, Backlund is an absolutely genuine main event star with a hugely significant title reign. Jarrett blossomed in TNA and WCW during it's weakest points and other than that was just an upper midcarder at best.

People are underselling Jarrett a lot here. Everyone that praises Christian in the ring while insulting Jarrett are delusional, they are both very similar in style and technique. He's not an Angle/Jericho and his heel gimmick is kinda generic and one dimensional, but he's good and certainly deserved to go over Dynamite who accomplished zip in the business.

He's never beating Backlund though. I love Bob a lot. Can't wait for him Vs Race, if it was happening in the second round Backlund would of probably got my vote. It being a gimmick match could prove to be his undoing.

Jeff Jarrett is easily one of the most overrated main eventers of the past 20 years. To me, everything about Jarrett screams that he's a good, strong mid-card guy who was pushed to a level that he just didn't have the stuff for. It's true that Jarrett won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship 4 times in his career but I can't be impressed by that because he was the "top guy" in WCW when the company was one massive turd of a company that was circling the drain. He was also champion during a time in which it wasn't at all uncommon for the title to change hands multiple times each month. When I look at his time in TNA, I'm still not overly impressed with him as a main eventer. It's easier to be a multi time World Champion & main eventer in a company when you're someone who founded &, at the time, owned the company. Jarrett wasn't the guy to carry TNA as the top guy even though he founded the company with his old man. Otherwise, he wouldn't have had to sell out most of the company to Bob Carter.

Bob Backlund was someone who was fairly entertaining. His character of Mr. Backlund was kinda corny in some ways, but he really put himself into it. Everyone also knows Backlund's dominance of the WWWF/WWF during the late 70s through the early 80s. Backlund was WWWF/WWF Champion for about 6.5 years. Backlund was a FAR, FAR bigger draw than Jarrett ever has been at any point in his career, his career thrived in a thriving company.

It's just a no brainer here. The match isn't happening in TNA nor in Memphis where he & his father held major stroke. Backlund moves on.
