Dr. Doom

Arguably the quintessential Marvel Universe villain, Dr. Doom is the arch-nemesis of Reed Richards and the rest of the Fantastic Four, but he certainly isn’t limited to terrorising them. From Spider-Man to the Punisher to Dr. Strange to even Superman, Doom has crossed paths with nearly every big name there is in his universe (and even beyond).

Studying as an overseas student at Empire State University in the USA, the brilliant Latverian, Victor Von Doom developed a machine to communicate with the dead. Following a warning from Reed Richards, Doom’s former roommate who he disliked, Doom suffers severe facial scarring as a result of the machine failing violently. Doom is expelled, cast out and swear vengeance upon Richards. Thus begins his hatred of the future Mr. Fantastic and by association, the Fantastic Four.

In the aftermath of the accident, Doom returned to Latveria, having studied the way of Tibetan monks and crafted himself a suit of armour, complete with face mask to hide his hideously scarred face. Once back in his homeland, Doom conquered it, ruling with an iron fist, and plotting in Castle Doom. There he has hatched some of the most diabolical plots in history.

Whether scientific, mystical or out-of-this world, Doom has often plotted and schemed to increase his power, and found himself at odds with a number of both heroes and villains. Doom’s persistence is admirable, but often flawed. He has fallen out of favour a number of times in Latveria due to his quests elsewhere and is often defeated by his enemies, though none can rival the knowledge, power and thirst for more that Victor Von Doom has.

Powers:
• Superhuman Intelligence: Doom’s intelligence rivals, if not surpasses, most of the super-human intellects in the world. He is a polymath and he has proven that he can out-do even his great rival Reed Richards as his cure of Ben Grimm (A.K.A. The Thing) signified back during the Beyonder’s Secret War.
• Occult Abilities: While Doom’s mother was a sorceress, Doom’s own knowledge of the occult and supernatural surpasses hers as he has proven a number of times, mixing science and magic a number of times. He has also clashed with a number of others for the title of Sorcerer Supreme before.

Abilities:
• Hand-to-Hand Combat: Has moderate abilities with or without his armour. With he has his strength increased significantly and can stand-toe-to-toe with Spider-Man level super-humans. Without the armour he is capable of killing lions and the like.
• Strong Will: While most will bend to the will of those with telekinetic powers, Doom is able to resist those attempting to invade his mind, as the Purple Man, for example, found out all too well.

Assets:
• Body Armour: Designed for survival and conquest, Doom’s armour is more than a trademark. He can survive space and under-water due to recycling oxygen, food and water supplies. He can stand toe-to-toe with superhuman level strength beings (should he wish), can resist blows from superhumans like Iron Man, has a built in shield and an electric pulse running throughout, meaning if you touch the suit, you get zapped to death.
• Various Mechanical Marvels: Doom’s many quests for power, vengeance and destruction have seen him develop a number of mechanical masterpieces. Examples include time machines, devices designed to give and take away superpowers and of course numerous robots like...
• Doombots: Often believing themselves to be the real Dr. Doom, the Doombots are near exact (mechanical) replicas of Doom. Doom usually sends them in his place to take the brunt of a foes force.
• Ruler of Latveria: As the ruler of Latveria, Doom is loved by (some of) his people. Latveria also has a tendency to be an unstable country however and Doom can often find himself at odds with rivals for his throne. Still, he has those loyal to his cause and they are willing to die in the name of Doom. This also means he has diplomatic immunity outside of the country.
