Life's A Bitch, And Then You Mosh

After some discussion with Marquis, I think I'm becoming a fan of her's. I first saw her in The New Guy, and although it was a small role, she played it well. Then, I saw Yes Man the other day, and loved it. I'm a huge Carrey fan, but I can't help but notice that she was very good as well. She played the character better than anyone else I can think of for the role, and didn't over-do anything, as most people feel they need to do when working with him.

Then, today, while watching The Babysitters, I saw in one of the previews that she was in a film called The Go-Getter. While I haven't watched the movie, I plan to. She stars in a role similar to the one in Yes Man, and it seems like a fun indy-style movie. Has anyone seen it? I'd like a review, if possible, before I go hunting for it...

EDIT Don't go off-topic to review the film for me...Just PM me, or stick it in the appropriate thread...

I fucking love this woman. She is so awesome. She has a film coming out in a few weeks I can't wait to see, called 500 Days of Summer. Besides Public Enemies and Inglourious Basterds, there's not a film I'm looking more forward to seeing this Summer than that one.

Anyways, my favorite film of hers is a little Indy movie called Manic, starring her, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Don Cheadle. It's a great, great film and her performance is flawless.

Other films she was in that I loved are Almost Famous, Abandon, The Good Girl, All the Real Girls, Winter Passing and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. And then there are movies like Failure to Launch and The Happening that are giant pieces of shit, but she's still so loveable in them and makes the films worth watching at least one. The chick is just fucking great.

And I have yet to see The Go-Getter, but I remember hearing it wasn't very good.

I haven't seen most of the ones you listed, except for The Happening, and didn't even notice her in it.

As far as Manic goes, I'd love to see it. I've seen it for rent a few times, but I prefer to buy. If I ever see it for sale, then I'd definitely buy it. Gordon-Levitt is a good actor, and Don Cheadle is unbelievably under-rated. as far as the others, I'll check them out, if only because you said they were good. Not necessarily because she's in them. I have an extensive movie collection, and love any opportunity to expand it.

I absolutely loved her in Almost Famous, her character in the film couldn't have been played better by anyone. The first thing I probably saw her in though was the New Guy when I was like fourteen or fifteen years old. Stupid movie, but god damnit I still enjoy it so much. I pop that thing into the DVD player atleast once a year, super cheesy and awful and I still love it to death.

Zooey is mega-mega hot though. Her sister, who's on that show Bones, is pretty hot too.

I too am looking forward the 500 Days of Summer flick JMT, I'm a huge fan of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, probably because of Brick. Have you ever seen Brick? Of course you have, you probably love that movie I'm guessing. One of the best movies of the last ten years.

I own this, but have yet to watch it. Every time I get a chance, either my son has something else on, or my girlfriend finds something she'd rather watch. I've heard nothing but great things about it, and am dying for the opportunity to pop it in, and let it play.

One of these days, I'll have to start my own review thread, and go movie by movie on my shelf, and review them all...:scratchchin:

You should definately just say screw everyone and pop it in, like right now man. It's utterly fantastic. At first the dialogue strikes you as being really un-authentic and not at all how high-schooler talk, but that slowly becomes a part of its charm. It's got more awesome slang in it then a 30's gangster flick. Really, really great almost neo-noir type of film, Levitt is fantastic in it. Some people might dismiss it as pretentious, but trust me, it's great. At the very least it's worth a watch.

Plus the end credits have the greatest song of all time, "Sister Ray" by the Velvet Underground.

I would if I were home. I won't have any time tomorrow, and I'm going to a concert Thursday, and will be busy Friday. Hopefully this weekend I can give it a viewing.

This is way off-topic, but back when Ledger had passed, there was a lot of debate in the imdb forums about who would play Joker in the future. Someone referenced this film, and said that it was the reason Gordon'Levitt should get the role. While I don't agree with him in the role, it made me wonder just how good he was in this. It's the whole reason I bought it.

I love me some Zooey Deschanel. If she came up to me and said "Hey Steven, let's run away together and fuck and whatnot." I would call my girlfriend and say "Sorry, Zooey Deschanel just told me to run away with her and fuck and whatnot." And I pride myself on how faithful I am to my girlfriend, lulz.

The only reason I watch Elf is because of her, to tell you the truth. I singularly despise any attempt by Will Ferrell to do family comedies, but I will watch this one when I can work up the boredom. Just because of her, really.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was a good film. And Deschanel made it better.

Yes, Man was a good film as well, and Zooey once again made it much more worthwhile. I at first wasn't going to watch it because i saw Jim Carrey's back-asswards interview on Larry King where he outright accuses the medical community of purposefully giving vaccines to children they know will give Autism to children. I wanted to punch his head through a wall. But then I saw Deschanel on the poster, and I saw it anyway. Good all-around film.

Then there are movies like Failure to Launch where you just wanna kill whoever wrote the script and paid money to actually make the piece of shit. Those are the movies where i find myself thinking "Ok, get through this boring shit so that I can get another scene with Zooey's character."

Great, great actress. I love love love her. More so than Shannon Marie Woodward. And i would harm others for that woman.

Yes, yes... you guessed it right. I didn't like it the first time I watched it, but that was just because I didn't get it. When I watched it again, with the Sub-Titles turned on I must admit, I loved it. So, yeah, NSL... I highly recommend it, too. Watch it with an open mind, though. And pay close, close attention, otherwise a lot of shit is going to fly right over your head. Have zero distractions around you.

And X, I've been singing Levitt's praises since belonging to this forum. I'm a downright fanboy of his. I have nearly every movie he's ever starred in on DVD (Brick, The Lookout, Manic, and Mysterious Skin are my favorites), and the dude is just awesome.

I've loved Levitt since I was a kid watching 3rd Rock From the Sun. I still remember thinking "Awesome!" when he was in the opening scene of Halloween H20 (only to be killed with an ice skate within 2 minutes...awesome).

The Lookout is amazing as well, and is probably his best role to date. He played that character absolutely perfectly.

But yeah, go watch Brick immediately. It's a full five stars in my book.

Don't worry JMT, once the new GI Joe movie comes out I think the rest of the world will begin to catch on to what we already know about Levitt's awesomeness. He's about to break out any minute now. I mean, any actor that can make you sit through 10 Things I Hate About You all the way through deserves a world of credit in my book.

I won't start a new thread, because this one has already been derailed anyway.

I finally saw Brick today. Great movie. From beginning to end, everything was done well, and there was some great acting. The only thing I found not-quite-right about the movie, was the guy cast as Tug. Sure, he wa sa big muscle bound freak, but there was something about the way he played it that didn't appeal to me. When he's walking across the parking lot, he wasn't intimidating. When he was sitting down with The Pin at the end, he didn't seem threatening. He did good as far as the fighting was concerned, but otherwise, he was a little "meh".

Watched Yes Man yesterday night and found the film pretty funny. Zooey Deschanel is hot and she was pretty good in that film. However I instantly found something about her to be unbelivably annoying and thats is her voice. She sounds almost squeeky, I will have to check her out in other things before I can pass judgement. I also hope Gordon-Levit gets his big break out soon. I loved him in 3rd rock from the sun and Ten things, deffinatly underated

Ironically enough c2x I love her voice. It's a truly original voice all it's own. She is in a band called She and Him with singer/songwriter (And indie god) M. Ward, there music is fantastic, you guys should check it out.

As for the Go-Getter I've see that it's spectacular, great storytelling, sorry if that counts as a review.

Loved her role in Yes Man though it fit her perfectly, and Carrey played alongside her well.
